Such terms have nothing to do with "race", but with cultural things, like language (even the French are technically "Latin", since they speak a Latin-derived language.) The majority of the people who in the US get the "Latin/Hispanic" label are actually Amerindians and Mestizos (i.e. mix of Amerindian and European)

Under those three main races there are ethnic divisions. Which is what I think is where you my friend are having a problem. They might be Hispanic because they speak Spanish, which is what the term Hispanic denotes. Or Latin because their language comes from Latin as does French, Italian and Portugese.

@Alk3mist85, actually many Spaniards are just as white as the British Royal family. Look at pictures of the king of Spain. He did not descend from Moors or other Afro-Arabic tribes. Certain Spainiards did, but they do not like to admit it. (Blacks do not exist to them.) Some people see "Spanish" as non-white due to thier perception of native people from Mexico. It is dumb, yes, but an on-going mistake that gets annoying fast.

The "Anglo" Americans are said to even have spread them on purpose, unlike the Spanish, in order to decimate the Amerindian populations faster.
