The comment I posted six months ago, was out of line, especially in light of how many Southerners are fighting in Iraq, and Afgahanistan. They're fighting beside men and women, from every part of the nation. That's more important, than a war fought over 150 yrs ago.
My GG grandfather fought under the Flag of the Great State of Virginia at Gettysburg...In fact, he fought at most battles with the Army of No. Virginia...But a couple of my people were, in fact, killed at Gettysburg under the Flag of North Carolina...It's good that you see the error of your ways...I forgive you....You'll have to wait til you get to other side to find out if they do...
...just don't confuse my apology, with support for the Confederate cause, in any way.
If you were aware of the Confederate army's behavior towards Pennsylvania's black citizens, you might think twice before bragging to a native of the Commonwealth, about your ancestors' participation in that invasion.
You may find yourself doing a fair amount of apologizing, once you make it to the other side, yourself.
Its okay woldencrow, I would never confuse you with a supporter of Confederate history.
I am willing to wait about oh say thirty or forty years when Confederate history and heritage become mainstream and recognized as part of the multi-cultural heritage of Americans as a whole.
When you wake up and realize then, like the next generation hopefully will, that good and bad, Southern heritage deserves to be honored, I will be honored to accept your apology then.
In thirty to forty years, I will be fighting the devil for control of hell, and much of what is good about the USA, will be gone, thanks to multi-culturalism.
I wonder how many Southerners will have woken up and realized that Southern heritage transcends Confederate heritage, and the history that has been taught to them, by the SCV, and UDC.
