I guess this all happens because some countries have also a distorted self perception. Nobody calls Japanese, or South Koreans as exotic Asians. So I guess there is some slum dog complex in some Latin countries. And as we can see in eastern Europe, they are also treated as second class citizens. I like the Expression in Portuguese and Spanish: estadunidense.
