@Melvin0082 Metallic Hardcore has REAL punk and metal influences whereas Melodic Metalcore, with the exception of bands like Between the Buried and Me and Anterior, have watered-down riffs to appeal to wanna-be tough guys and skinheads with Double-Digit IQs (kind of like you).
@Melvin0082 Okay. First of all, put your thoughts down in a coherent manner so it's easier for the rest of us to understand. By what your post is getting at, it seems that you're agreeing with me. Thrash Metal (Metallica, Slayer, Sepultura) has Metal song structure with Punk Attitude. Metallic Hardcore (Converge, Integrity, etc.) is PUNK song structure with METAL attitude.
@LiNaK37 I know, right? That's because this is more 'Metallic Hardcore' than 'Melodic Metalcore.'
These guys are actually a great 'Metallic Hardcore' band, with real Punk and Metal influences resonating throughout their songs, unlike 'Melodic Metalcore', which are bands like We Came as Romans and Attack Attack!, you know, the shit ones: Pseudo-Punk influences and watered-down Gothenburg Melodeath Riffs.
@MetalRagnaroc you make me fuckin'sick by putting everything in a fuckin'case, its more hardcore than melodic metalcore? youre soJERK ,, metal (hard) core, is already coming coming from hardcore punk, who that coming from rock that coming from blues so WHAT% this is music shutthe fuck up about gender, because you are not able to analyse it /// metallica was influenced by punkcore band like DR KNOW .. ...so was SLAYER and sepultura..anyway,, one thing is true, punkcore to grindcore is ANTIFAscist
Can't follow any of the lyrics on Jane Doe. I swear the lyrics that have been given are poetry which matches the feel of the song and the band has other lyrics which they really used. Either way love this band.
Funny, this is probably the worst song off this album. I've still probably listened to it over 30 times, the worst song on the album is still THAT GOOD.
@Squeglee this is hardcore, but... it's pretty acceptable that the lyrics a different because it's CONVERGE, not because of the genre. Just because a band shows you what they're saying doesn't mean it IS what they're saying. Somethings are just not meant to be understood, or they choose to not let people know what they're saying for whatever reason..
@MrFicction The whole album is about Jake Bannons (the singer) realationship that broke up before they recorded this album. "Jane Doe" is a name given to an unknown female person by the police. So the whole album is about that he never even knew the girl that he loved. She was just a "Jane Doe" to him.
At first, when this album won best of the decade on Sputnik I thought they were crazy. I thought all it was, was people screaming and smashing their instruments, but for some strange reason, I keep coming back....
The lyrics sound completely different from what he's saying. The cleans at the beginning sound something like "That's where they shine". Awesome song anyhow.
i don't see why people hate on this band this is my first time listening and i have to say that its really good. they have a really origional sound to me.
FUCK!!!!...the music is probably my favorite in Jane doe...but...I can't follow the lyrics for shit....you fail me....no problem...axe to fall...one of the easiest....same goes for no heroes...older stuff though...not a chance...petition the empty sky i can follow up to certain points...but forget about the older stuff....as far as lyrics go...as far as witnessing the progression in their music...incredible...like watching a rose bud bloom....beautiful even as the bud...ecstatic as the bloom...
Ben Koller's performance in this song is just RIDICULOUS. He's like a machine... except when he plays insane songs like this, he smiles through the whole thing :D (saw it live... :) )
i would listen to this album after my bad breakup...i don't do it that much anymore for those reasons though. i listen to it to kick myself in the face in order to wake up.
@Gorglazon Those are the booklet lyrics. The lyrics in the booklet aren't the ones he ended up using in the recording. It's more of an additional poem that related to the song.
@Gorglazon They may purport to be the lyrics but they do not appear to be what he is singing: it starts with something like "That's where they die, that's where she outshines..." - every song on the album is like that.
wow i like their music but i can never seem to follow the lyrics, not even with them up here... maybe they should make them into "karaoke" style videos.
First song by Converge I heard. Still my favorite.
