That would be fuckin AWESOME if you could get to edmonton in 5-6mins. Imagine the kind of parties and competitions the cities would have all the ppl travelling back and forth just to party. DAMN.
But even commercial airliners don't fly that fast!
@Sonic7997 The advantage you have in Canada is that you have PLENTY of space LOL so it shouldn't cause a problem to build a line. In Europe, because the space is so small that it causes some troubles with local communities whom don't want to see any high-speed trains passing nearby their hamlets or towns
@thesix107 Yeah there is definitely a sign, I just usually make this drive when its dark and the sign tends to catch me off guard. It's gotten better now though, I just hate having to go through all those lights on Gaetz!
@ClubCrew Edmonton is a shit hole, it's called the Canadian Detroit :) I agree with you about the general aspect of Calgary, I would say I disagree about the way they drive. Alberta and Ontario are the two worst Canadian provinces regarding driving habits
@philthybear I was a long-haul trucker and I passed through Detroit and Southern Ontario many times.
There is just a HUGE difference of urbanism and culture between Edmonton and Calgary. How can people say Edmonton is a nice city where most of it is surrounded by industrial areas? And for a visitor, the first thing you notice is the journey between the airport to the city center. As for Edmonton, passing though Gateway Blvd until geting to the Old Strathcona isn't that thrilling.
lol ya. but where i stay. before you get to paved roads. you have to drive on a dirt road for about 13 hours. i stay in inuvik n.w.t. so it sucks when i wanna drive down south. but im kinda used to it. get 2 flats going down and aleast one coming back up.
That was a pretty cool video buddy. It looks like you were passing alot of vehicles. What was you average speed? I've taken this highway a million times and I usually average about 140 Km/h. I can get from city to city in about 2 hours 20 mins. If you do the speed limit, it would take you about 3 hours.
so... i have a canon sd750 - and one of the features that it has is a timelapse mode that takes a shot every second or two seconds. i duct taped the camera to the dash of my car and headed out. i would recommend duct taping a little tripod to your dash instead, because it would be more stable. and maybe pick a stretch of highway with more scenery :)
Is this what highspped rail between Calgary and edmonton wil be like?

Alberta looks very flat except in the west because it's closer to the most beautiful Canadian province "British Columbia"

@thesix107 If you would have one of our high-speed trains we have in France, you would reach both cities in less than an hour :)

Why do people insist on driving in the middle lane when there are 3 lanes? Keep right except to pass on a highway! Terrible driver...
pofthek 1 year ago
@pofthek On a six-lane highway, both two on the right are traveling lanes, the far left is a passing lane. This driver knows what to do.

@MarshallAchtymichuk There's actually a sign there though. I think it does come quick, but yeah, straight to go red deer, left to edmonton.

I live right outside Edmonton and I have to agree Calgary is better. The people there know how to drive. Also I would say Calgary is a LOT cleaner.

Man, if only it actually took 5 minutes to get to Calgary from Edmonton, or vice versa. :-p Warp speed, Number One!
Oh well, it's not the most exciting drive, but I supposed it beats driving through a deserted wasteland. At least it's green and the sky is pretty.

Driving at 3,000 km/h will net you a fine of about $67.8 million dollars.
