From the time I was only 8 years old, I would sing the hell out of her songs, sometimes I still do. :) Olivia was such a positive influence in my life, in so many ways. There will never be anyone else today, that could measure up to that.
i told someone a few days ago i dont like olivia newton john as a singer.... i eat my words. any chick that does this to a bob dylan song is alright in my book!
@jazzfan19605 Yes, the chords are being played mechanically. Just compare with George Harrison's 1970's superb version (don't remember if was George or Eric Clapton playing guitar there).
I suspect that Olivia or her producer may have been listening to the ALL THINGS MUST PASS album at the time she recorded this. Her version is not that all removed from the Harrison version. She also recorded Harrison's own "What Is Life" which was from.................. you guessed it..... ALL THINGS MUST PASS.
@hooeybrown John Farrar was her producer and also the guitar player on all these early records, he is quite under-rated in my opinion. I suspect her was into british invasion as well as Dylan and that crowd. If i'm not mistaken they were lovers, she young / he older, he may have had a lot more influence to her song selecftion than is spoken about.
George made it sound better - with slide guitar. And Dylan with better vocals. George gave it to Neutron Bomb - daughter of some Nobel physicist or something, I think?

I was 10 when this came out. I think she was my first ever crush, I'd look at her on 'Top of the Pops' in her leather catsuit and just melt !
