  • While "Surfer Joe" was the "A" side and"Wipeout" was he "B" side, clearly "Wipeout " was the better of the two songs.

Nothing wrong with "Surfer Joe" bt "Wipeout is better.

  • my aunt had original 45,A side is "Wipe out"

  • the a side is surfer joe not wipe out , wipe out was the b side

  • You are right, Surfer Joe was the "A" side and Wipeout the "B" side. In Lansing, MI when Wipeout finally ran its course, the radio stations started playing Surfer Joe as if it was a new release. Unless you had the record and knew both singles were on one record, you would have thought that the Surfaris had released a new record.

  • Surfer joe was a hit first and then dj turned it over and wipeout became a hit but if you look it up on billboard you won't find surfer joe, but I remember 1962 real well and surfer joe was and still is one of my favorite songs

  • Love that blue 1949 Ford Woodie!!!

  • I haven't heard this song since I was taking R&R at China Beach with another guy from my outfit. He went out to try the surf and this song was playing on the loudspeaker system... This is one of the good memories I had of Nam... Thanks

  • umm...that was cool i guess

  • yeah this is so cool

  • ahahahaaha

  • Hard to believe this was the "A-side".... Wipeout was the "B-side."

  • Back then, they probably thought Surfer Joe was better than Wipeout when they first made the record. They didn't know how much people would love Wipeout.

  • Reminds me of my trip to the land of HELL.

  • the Wedge!!!

  • I live 20 minutes from the Wedge, I often ride my bike there and remember the days when I was a lifeguard there and could safely go in for some BIG WAVE body surfing. Now I just watch. As Clint Eastwood said: "A man has got to know his limits."
