  • Fantastic video! Although I would say that I am DISGUSTED with her behaviour at 1:21. Was it the necessary to touch the dogs fallace.

  • Why anyone would change the natural looks of Doberman's ears by cutting the sides off and erected like that. If you love your dog then you should love them the way it was born not how you want it just to suit yourself.

Nine months ago 6 lap dogs being taken for a walk with their butts shaved they had nothing to keep them warm and it was freezing like below zero.

Wanted tell the owner “don’t you know that’s cruel, how would you feel like it if I made a big hole in the butt side of your trousers!”

  • @flukeman022 A dog with natural ears, natural tail, and dewclaws still attached is more likely to become injured than one that has been docked/cropped short and dewclaws removed. A Dobermann doesn’t need natural ears, a natural tail, or dewclaws. It’s NOT like chopping off a leg. Some do it for cosmetic reasons, but others do it for working purposes. A Dobie that has been cropped/docked short and with dewclaws removed can work more efficiently than one that is natural.

  • @DiamondRavenChannel Yes unfortionatly some working dogs (rottweiler) has their tail chopped off to avoid being stepped on by farm animals which i do respect.

Dobie's ears should be floppy and it doesn't seem to be a problem so I don't understand how it can be more of a burden than a advantage and better of being cut and erected like that. If you know why please let me know.

    Thanks

  • @flukeman022 The Dobermann's ears are cropped short in order for them to not be used as handles for an attacker who may try to stop the dog from performing its guard/protection duties. In other words, when the ears are cropped short, it gives an attacker less to grab a hold of in order to stop the Dobermann from fighting off the criminal. Thanks for asking.

  • Jack Russell Terriers are the type of dog who’ll pull a lot of tricks on you. Dobermanns are highly trainable. Go to my channel and watch my video called "Second Dobermann I Trained". And also, Dobermanns originated as personal protection dogs, and later were used in police and military forces. For whatever reason, she never said anything about Herr Dobermann developing them for the purpose of protecting him so that he wouldn't be robbed of his cash. She told inacurate and left out information.

  • @Oreztar

LMAO. Spaying is just as cosmetic as ear cropping. Both have benefits and consequesces. Im aware of things like Pyo and mastitis. I would not live somewhere I could not have the option to crop, dock or spay or neuter. Thats my opinion. To bad Mr. Dobermann did not think to mix in a few more breeds with already standing ears insted of floppy.

  • I had a Doberman and he was 28 inches. 132 lbs. he could run 45 km hr.

and could easily jump a 7 Foot fence.....

  • @Xstatikfox

Cause they look like shit with floppy ears.

  • Why do Americans clip the dobermans ears

  • they try you? scary

i dont want to be tried by a doberman

  • doberman = athletic, strong, smart.

  • i got a doberman is half american doberman and half EUROPEAN and they r pupys and will attack if people they dont now!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This lady really knows her stuff

  • @RAVENakaR The collie one

  • @RAVENakaR These videos aren't very professional. A training friend of my mother's is speaking in one, and I know she isn't the most knowledgeable owner of our breed. In fact, she seems to develop a few claims that are almost entirely false. Some of these Right Companion videos aren't too bad, but it seems like they pulled names out of a hat to find speakers.

  • Did she say "we haven't bathed in 2 weeks"?......ugh!!

  • pinscher - not pinser

  • i think the ears are cut wrong their not always standing in the uk ur not allowed to cut dog tail and ears people stilll do it tho but i don know how to cut ears

  • she touched his dick wtf

  • H3rbman what a nuisance cutting dog's tails and ears. This is simply cruelty and by now abolished and prohibited in half of Europe. Probably not in America where they do whatever they like to the innocent creature - and hardly anybody gives a damn.

How would you feel if someone cuts your ears and something else? - Oh its just animals it seems - then you are freee to do so?????

  • @4orsaorsa I see you claim Europeans care so much about dogs to bad yall do not feel that way about colonization and genocide. I bet Native Americans would be glad I am African I know I would be hell I think the ocean life wish Euro peons would give them a break also

  • @4orsaorsa nothing wrong with the tail docking! ear cropping is wrong because you can have the ear revert back to being floppy which defeats the purpose of the cropping in the first place1 Also ear cropping was popular because those Dobbies were used in dog fighting

  • Comment removed

  • @gmellos Dobermans weren't used in dog fighting. If that were the case, the ears would be cropped very near to the head like a pit bull's. The purpose of the erect ears was for sound localization, since they were developed as a guard dog, and, along with the docked tail, to make it more difficult for an attacker to be able to grab the dog somewhere vulnerable. That same purpose could carry over into today, but the docking and cropping is usually just to make the breed look "neat" and leaner.

  • @K9Connection122

I understand what you said. It is just that for me cropping ears seems more cruel than tail docking. The reason I feel that is because with tail docking it is usually done when the puppy is 1-3 days old. With Ear cropping you have to wait til the dog in a few months old and then you have tape it's ears for a couple of weeks to make the ears stick up. That to me is excessive. That's all. I have had 2 dobies and both had their tails docked but not their ears.

  • @gmellos It's all a matter of preferences. If they're showing the dog in the breed ring, most doberman owners prefer the ears cropped. While the breed ring is very political, it can also be assumed that usually a doberman with natural ears won't win over one of equal standard with ears cropped. Either way, they have excellent temperaments that aren't affected by how they look.

  • @gmellos yeah but the ears make therm more intimdating and better looking in my opion and correct me if im wrong but it might make them more sensitive to sound

  • @K9Connection122 finally someone who knows what they are talking about! Dobermann was a tax collector and wanted a dog that would be able to accompany him while he was collecting taxes.

  • @Brittenour u mean to protect him and intimdate people to get his money

  • @K9Connection122 u know yr stuff but dobermans use to be very agreesive they breed them down but before they use to fight while they were in the show rooms so they crop their ears

  • @zafeamoon i think they should hav left the breed they should have nevr breed them down if they had not done that im sure they would be the top attack dog

  • @zafeamoon i think they should hav left the breed they should have nevr breed them down if they had not done that im sure they would be the top attack dog but maybe a camer temprement might mean their easyer to work with

  • @gmellos revert back to being floppy? What? I think what you ment to say was,"You have irresponsible owners, whom do not follow up with the posting until the job is done correctly. Which inturn leads to the dog having a harder time standing thier ears straight up". You can thank me later for correcting you lack of knowledge.

  • @4orsaorsa Ha Ha I like reading 100% opinion based posts. It makes me feel so intellismarts.<--- No, that really isn't a word.

  • @4orsaorsa Ha Ha I like reading 100% opinion based posts. It makes me feel so intellismarts.<--- No, that isn't a word.

  • I feel so bad for that poor dog. Dogs usually have their ears cropped when they are just 8 to 12 weeks old. At this stage in their development, the trauma of the procedure can have a strong psychological impact on the maturing pup. The process of taping and retaping a pup's ears to force them to stand erect after they have been cropped can be agonizing for the dog.

  • @MsLabMom you shouldn't use the word 'just' in a sentence that you are trying to make the time frame seem as though it is long or overdue. No, I'm not perfect, or an English Major. However, if I am going to criticise someone, I'm going to make sure I atleast make a coherent sentence structure that is able to be followed. You must work for PETA or be a stay at home that has nothing better to do. Feel free to contact me if you need any more lessons on 'How Not To Sound Dumb Without Even Trying'.

  • @Brittenour this is the internet not a english class who cares if yr grammer or whatever else u understood losen up

  • @zafeamoon I know, I know. I have to give people a hard time, when they seem as though they don't know what they are talking about. I have been in the military for over 9 years now, so I am used to not saying something unless I know what I am talking about. I don't just make garbage up and hope no one calls me out on it. For instance, the lines where MsLabMom says," At this stage in their development", "trauma of the procedure" and "strong psychological impact", has no facts to support her idea.

  • @zafeamoon Sorry, I ran out of room. As i was saying, "her idea"... The claims are not even from a Doberman owner. I have had my dog Kona since before we had his ears done. We took Kona back to the breeder when it was time to clip the eats. When my wife and I got him back, one full day after the procedure, he was the same playfully puppy as he was when we left him. The only time he seemed to mind having cups on his head (google the cup thing), was when he would bump against something hard.

  • @Brittenour Ha ha, I said eats instead of ears. Imagine eating the ears!

  • @zafeamoon I have so much info to give, and ran out of room again... When my wife and I took the stitches out, that also bothered him a bit, but nothing a treat didn't fix. After that, we waited a few days to post the ears to make sure they were healing fine. Posting of the ears, which I believe is something that was brought up in MrLabMom's post, umm yup it was, didn't really cause Kona much discomfort. I am able to back this statement up with a a supporting statement. Notice I said statement!

  • @zafeamoon I grind my dogs nails (claws) instead of clipping them. I believe clipping causes more discomfort than grinding. The only thing with grinding is that you have to be careful not to over heat the nail from friction. Here is where I support my previous statement about discomfort of posting ears... Grinding my dogs nails seems to cause him more discomfort than posting (and reposting) his ears. I would even say more discomfort than taking the stitches out. That is my arguement you decide.

  • "Release the hounds"

  • Arguably the most misunderstood breed in the AKC. Ours is a wonderful, sweet pet.

  • Oh dear the old 'cropping' argument. No point in arguing! Some people will crop etc for cosmetic reasons (new owners who like the look, or experienced owners/breeders who undertake the procedure for the fact it's traditional to have a Doberman(n) with cropped ears & doct tails, for show etc) & is LEGAL.

Ours are all 'natural' but just as alert, so I do find it amusing when people say 'what if a burglar came into your house & grabbed your dogs ears or tail?'

That I would like to see!

  • @Daized2009 Ha ha, that is funny. I have not heard that arguement... burglar grabbing ears, that is a new one for me. That is when you tell them that, while the burglar is grabbing my dogs ears, I am grabbing my Smith & Wesson Military & Police 9mm, and shoving it down the "burglar's" mouth.

  • I wish they wouldn't crop the ears so long. That "show crop" leaves the ears too long and heavy and you'll notice this dog's ears tend to fall to the side as he trots. I prefer the look of a working crop and it makes it much easier for the ears to stand erect. And let's not forget that the original purpose of cropped ears was to shorten an appendage that could be bitten by wild animals or grasped in the hand of human antagonists. A long crop defeats this purpose.

  • @JackKangaroo1 I agree. The shorter crops look better anyways!

  • do eny one know why its illegal to cropp the tail and ears in some countrys.

it is that inmy country but i thin that its only more beautiful white cropped ears and tail.

  • Love cropped ears on dobermans but the maintenance (Posting) seems rather painful which is what keeps me away from this breed.

  • @Tsanalretentive The posting is done at an early age and once it is done you never have to do it again. Like i have posted before, you have to make sure the posting is done correctly. You have some owners that don't want to follow up with it and the ears look bad. the posting is not very painful, more of a nuisance, like having your dog in a no-chew collar/neck cone.

  • dobermans are the best dogs!

  • most unpridictable dog there is.

  • is a female doberman better than a male doberman

  • Dobermans do pulls tricks lol. You have to be one step ahead of them. But I got to say I love my dobe to death. They are extremely smart and obedient, but at the same time they have a lot of personality! I love dogs with a lot of personality and Doberman defiently have personality!

  • that is one beautiful dobe. i want one...

  • she bathes once evry two weeks.... interesting.

  • @MaztaTing I can only imagine the smell.

  • @DobermansRock hehe

  • Wow that dog is amazing looking.

  • I am happily around children either and I am HAPPY about it...cant stand them.

  • I show a Doberman Pinscher in 4-H. He was abused, mainly by his legs. So its sort of a pain in the show ring when the judge always has to touch his legs and he becomes very jumpy :/

  • @AussiesAwesome If thats the case take a bad experience and make it a good one. Like have him stand there and be touched on the legs very softly. Show him he's not gonna be hurt and make him sit there, when he stands still with his legs being strokes reward him with food. But dont give up, you just need to help him develop trust. Ive helped a few abuse dogs by turning what they seen as abuse coming, into oh that means food coming, and than they no longer feared being touch or messed w.

  • i love my big dobie boy!!!

  • She is very professional in her presentation. So what is she says Pincer, she sold me on this dog!

  • "Doberman Pincer??"

  • @destructicon500 lol I hear that too! I was like did she really say pincer

  • @ScruffyBueno i dont get it ???? theres dobermans, king dobermans, and doberman Pinscher , i love the Pinscher's the best

  • @insaneclown33 King dobermans? sounds like a marketing gimmick

  • @HowToGetFreebies there is manm just bigger dobermans

  • @destructicon500 Pinscher sounds like pincer

  • Our Doberman male is very sweet-natured. He's equally mischievous! On those mornings when I forget to set my alarm clock, he only allows me to sleep just a few minutes late before gently waking me. We love him to pieces.

  • im gettin a doberman in a couple months and i've been thinkin of names and i cant find one to suit a doberman (female) some name that resembles something strong, affectionate , and loyal for instance my other dog was named gaya after the roman godess of the earth because she had a beautiful black coat , if you could please tell me any good names you have and if thay have meanings i'd appreciate it

  • @hobbsshouldpvp if its a male name it like umm idk rafi or leo. if its a female name it lily or dora. idk ive only had one dog and i still have her. she turns 4 this july

  • @hobbsshouldpvp - this probably late as you have your dobie named by now, but some suggestions anyhow -- Agena, Electra, Joule, Mika, Phoebe Selma (Divine Protector, German), Shiloh, Sierra, Vega, Vala. Gender Neutral: Dakota, Kaluha. Hope this helps someone.

  • @billca951 yeah i picked Lucy from the beatles song lucy in the sky but those are great nmes .. thanks

  • seeing this brings so many memories of my Dobie, Dakota, back... there isn't a day that goes by that i miss him. he was the best dog ever, my best friend.

  • well, if they r not agressive, you might be able to leave them besides children like durrr

  • haha 0:16 "and that such"??? that makes not grammatical sense, then 1:54 she said "family pest", this woman has the IQ of George bush crossed with vocabulary of Miss Teen USA 2007 - South Carolina

  • @ddbd wowee look at u go, arent u super smart? armchair warrior motherfucker look at ur own vocab first. cretin

  • this woman is chattin shit, they were not bred as a sentry dog as a protection dog for the army. typical american dumbas.

  • @ddbd Learn to spell, dumbass.

  • @AzzyWynn i see u kno how do spell dumbass, well, u have had more pratice at it than me, uve had to use it to sign ur name...Mr dumbass.

  • @ddbd Damn ! You stinging wit has left me disarmed!!! What are you, in fifth grade? I am gonna tell your mommy on you!

  • my doberman looks like this dog but like a darker black color and i named him Roscoe from "Oliver and Company" my favorite movie:)

  • @specialk42293 Classic.

  • This woman touched on alot of points that I often feel obligated to point out when someone is buying or has bought a Dobe without doing any research.

Something she should have mentioned was the reality of male-male aggression. Most breeders refuse to place males with other males. Wouldn't have hurt to include how important it is to seek (health and) temperament tested stock. A weak nerved Dobe goes against the standard.

  • this woman is correct! i had a dobie he could run 50kmph, he could jump a 6foot fence! no probs! he was 28 inches! he had beaten up german shepherds, rotties, ridgebacks, great danes, and wolfhounds! he lived 13 years! he could still run like that untill he died, my brother fed him meat, he choked on it, my stupid brother didnt cut it. and so he died.. i miss u big guy! : ( ..
  • some reason i think you lying

  • Comment removed

  • @rockandroll4life1 Awww that is very sad.....

  • Ear trimming and tail docking is like getting a circumcision, get it done at and early age.

  • @H3rbman You liken it to circumcision, You know whats funny, Im cut and I dont even remember that shit, nor do I hold any ill towards my mom having it done...if anything....women think its sexy....much like ear cropping Coincidence? I think not

  • @H3rbman

Remember, we are human, they are dogs (it's a fact!) Gotta say it's getting a little tiresome of people comparing circumcision to crops etc!

Sure an early age is the best way, (I would personally doc tails, but in the UK we are prohibited, I see no need for ears, though that is pro-choice).

  • @H3rbman I understand the tail docking but the ear cropping is in my opinion totally unnecessary! I have own 2 Dobies and both had the ear left natural.

  • @gmellos I bet they looked like hound dog muts.

  • @H3rbman its illegal in the uk. the uk are the bench mark in animal treatment of the world

  • @H3rbman A circumcision doesn't require an anaesthetic or stitches, or 'posting and taping' for months. Also, one is an ear, one is a penis. Nothing like one another. Ear cropping is more like getting a boob job; purely cosmetic and should not be forced on a being who cannot consent to it. It's illegal in many countries for a reason....

  • @Oreztar Mine had hers on for 2 weeks and she wasnt bothered by it at all you dumb fuck, it doesnt hurt them and it keeps them more healthy for the REST of their lives, dont say shit trying to act like you know stuff, beacuse in reality you just dont... k hun (:

  • @Oreztar That reason is that in the old days they cropped ears cruely without sedation. Do a little research on that you will find that is the reason behind most banning. Not a days medical sedation is greatly develpoed and cropping is NOT a terrible procedure. It is no different than spaying. Spaying is done to prevent litters, ear cropping was dont to prevent a hand hold on a dog as well as preventing ear infections.

  • @wgsdluver1 Thanks for assuming I've not already 'done research'. I've done plenty, thanks. Spaying is not comparable to ear cropping; spaying is done for the benefit of the dog, and future litters. It prevents pyometra which is a horrible and lethal condition in unspayed bitches. Ear cropping is, these days, purely cosmetic and of no benefit to the dog; its all about the owner's shallow desire to have a dog who looks a certain way. Ear cropping is banned here, as is tail docking, thank god.

  • @H3rbman Tail docking is not like circumcision. It takes away an important means of communication from the dog that will hamper it in socializing with other dogs for the rest of its life. Taking away a dog's tail is like taking away a human child's ability to smile, they lose a crucial signal of friendly intent.

  • @rtfirefly0 that maybe true but the doberman's tail is very long and can break easily. this helps out the doberman in the long run.

  • i have a 5 month old doberman puppy!!! i miss him cuz im in college :( we refused to clip his ears tho

  • blah blah blah....ear trimming is less painful than having his balls cut off.........

  • Maybe, but trimming ears it such an unnecessary thing to do. Purely cosmetics

  • so?

  • I think it's not ok to cut an animal just to make it more pleasing to our eyes. My dobbie stays natural even though I find Dobermans with trimmed ears nicer.

  • yeah, but its not as big a deal as you make it....they are put to sleep & have a small piece of the ear trimmed away

  • thank you, I love the cropped ears

  • @rack325i I hate cropping and docking. Natural is better.

  • Such a beautiful breed. I love Doberman's. 8D

  • defent garbage ger a gun or pepper spray for that

  • dude shut up, just giving some facts, no need to be bitchy about it. i actually love dobermans! i just know that they loose their sence of smell, becuz when i came home one day my dobie just started barking like crazy, and he usually never barks, wen hecame close to me he just started growling and was about to attack me.

  • I had a doberman that made it to 17 years he was everything to me and we had to put him down cause he had cancer, it started in the toe so we had it amputated but by the time we did it spread to fast.... puttng him was probably the hardest things i could ever do... one moment his eyes are open the next they are closed..... it was rough....

  • Ive got my doberman at 100 Euro and is a pure breed

  • My friend got a pure bred puppy for $350 from private sellers, he's getting it cropped soon.

  • If you're going to breed dogs make sure that you breed them properly and do your research.

  • hmmm....how much would a doberman cost??

  • like 800 to 2000

  • if you get a good seller you could adopt one for about 300 to 900 $

  • mine was $3300. not including ear crop which was $400

  • i wana breed dogs

    that'd be awesome

  • nikigurl08 your a fuckin idiot i lived in the ghertto never got robbed the second i got out i did shit happens everywhere

  • Well don't blame the dog, its not a Doberman fault you didn't raise him right. Many ppl won't set foot in a house with a Doberman in less they know its friendly. But go ahead and raise an unstable dog, like your plannin to do, which will end up hurting a poor kid. ANd also i'm not the idiot you are, your the one wanting to raise a dog to be unstable. WHich has dire consquences for the poor dog and YOU!

  • nice video, thanks.

  • The best breed ever, as long as there in good hands.

  • thanks

OrovilleTim im deciding between a rottweiler and doberman

  • 8kdub--- dobermans will grow some semblence of a winter coat when they live in the elements, and shed it out for summer. They should b housedogs, but most i've known willingly romp in the snow for hours playing with their people and each other. Much tougher than u'd think. And personally (i've trained many of both-) i feel dobes r way more intelligent than rotts- and have cleaner mouths-less drooley.

  • can you have one in the winter if you live in canada or do they freeze

  • They do have a very thin coat that wasn't meant for cold climates., but all year round they want to be "indoor" dogs close to their owner. We have taken ours to the snow and they LOVE playing it it, but as soon as the play is done, they can't wait to get back into the warmth.

  • 8kdub88: Dobes r NOT THAT sensitive 2 cold! They will not keel over from it. In cold climates, they should live indoors with their peeps, but r more than up 4 long days of cold outdoor activities. I'm a trainer, and a foster home for dobes, and some come thru here with really thick coats, caused from a lifetime outdoors. Most coats return 2 normal with proper care. but u should check out the ALL DOBERMAN sled team! I think they even did well in the Iditerod Race!!!

  • They use dobermans for sledding in Norway, and other places. This breed was developed in GERMANY, not a tropical climate. The european dobes r bigger boned and tougher. AKC screwed up American breeding....thinner, smaller sharp boned skull, more greyhoundy, milder, more nervous IMO. So American Dobe fur is silkier, finer, and can b more prone 2 cold than German/European stock.

  • Beautiful breed!

  • Im a professional all breed dogtrainer and we foster for a Doberman Rescue Group. If not inbred, they r highly intelligent. Most Dobies r EXCELLENT and VERY patient with children. I prefer the big boned body-type over the Americanized skinny greyhoundy type. I like the red dobes. u usually c the black/tans. Dobies also have a great sense of humor!

  • I've heard they're sensitive. What kind of sensitivity does the statement touch?

  • Each one is of course a bit different, but in general, they tend 2 pick up moods and subtleties from people, and they can also get their feelings hurt, and sulk, hold a tiny grudge if they feel wronged. On the other hand-they r SO resiliant, and bounce back from whatever abuses or neglect they have suffered, and will trust again. HUGE loyalty and love. Dobermans r perfect off-leash training candidates. I was told of a book called Brains & Beauty, about Dobermans, haven't read it yet.

  • So you say European [german i.e.] dobes are more intelligent?? I can imagine that, having experienced mentality of some schnauzers [pinscher-related breed]...

To be honest, I'll be looking for a middle-dominant and middle-energetic male dobe. Will the euro dobie do well being a companion of more energetic schnauzer bitch? She's quite sensitive so establishing dominance won't be an issue...But she's a bit fearfull, too so I hope the dobe's gonna cheer her up ;) What's your opinion??

  • Depends on how you raise your Doberman. They are dominant breed, but their not aggressive. They do have a lot of energy, so it'd be wrong to keep them cope up, and they belong either in fenced in yard, or big country yard. As far with your schnauzer, they'd be great playmates. As long as she's not aggressive towards bigger dogs.

  • Well my schnauzer barks a lot but she's a coward in fact. I'm willing to raise my further doberman to be a sledge/pulling/running dog.

  • Even this Vid says it---they can b apartment, condo dogs, as long as they do get 2 'vent' as she puts is. My best (and very 1st) dobe was a BIG red male, he lived in r little tri-plex apartment for several years, he was pretty old when we bought r 1st house. He was quite happy, cuz we hiked and traveled alot. He loved swimming, and running up and down beaches. But when he was inside places, he was very calm and mellow, just lay down out of the way. Alot of r rescue dogs have been like that.

  • So your 1st dobe was rescue, too? Interesting...

I'd be after a black male. The reason why I pick rust-marked coal is .... it's a good decoration for my sofa [the sofa is brown/red], besides since I live next to Germany my dog should represent more traditional style. I think I'll pick the dog from a german breeder. It costs, but it's worth it.

  • Yes, i grew up with bird dogs. Later, I trained all breeds, including dobes. I got my1st dobe from a shelter in '92. He was cropped, 30" at shoulder, red/tan, 6 yrs old, unneutered, cat-eater, dog-fighter-on death row. but i worked it ALL out of him and he was the best dog i ever had, trustworthy with ALL critters. He taught me so much. He died in 2000. I've also been a foster 4 a dobie rescue group for over 11 years. Seen all kinds. The black/tan is the most recognized 'uniform.'

  • I must admit you're quite a dog whisperer!

I'm working on stranger-human and motorbike-truck agressive st bernard mix. He has also issues with storms [hates that sound and flash]...

I found very hard to vaccine him at vet's, he doesn't like being itched at all...

He was mentally spoiled when they started giving him shots in order to cure his eyes [he got almost blind until they surgered his overgrown eyelids... fortunately he got cured

    Not mentally ;/

    Any tips ;D??

  • I live in the house but the dog won't be kept outside. I think guard breeds get spoiled while kept outside without interacting with owner.

  • I would NOT use the word 'spoiled'-usually reserved 2 describe over-indulged dogs. But yes, 'spoiled' in the sense that they will b ruined as a being. dogs r social pack animals, who get depressed living alone, neglected. A guard breed such as a dobe will get jaded, often vicious and unstable, if left outside with no interaction. Dobes r great family house-dogs. Of course spending the day outside while u r at work is fine- but not constant 24-7 outside living with no attention.

  • I wouldn't say European r more intelligent than American dobes, but i do think they r less nervous, less prone 2 hyperactivity, and a bit more stable temper, AND more courageous. OF COURSE -ALL R different--case by case basis. But a well tempered dobe-no matter the country- should b an excellent playmate 2 your dog--i recommend a male. it may surprise u-your Shnauzer may b boss, since it was her house 1st, and female dogs, even timid ones, often end up dominating the males.

  • Well she tries to dominate my tatra shepherd/st bernard mix, but her efforts end up on his growl ;D

    It's very funny anyway.

He is patient about her, but won't let her go for too much, food and attention especially.

    Thanks for the hint.

  • Another thing--there r PLENTY of happy well balanced HOUSE-dobies, they do NOT NEED a huge yard, or farm etc. They just need some exercize, and that may b as simple as playing fetch for several minutes twice a day. SOME dobes, especially the big ones, R mellow, and quite content 2 lie around much of the day, and i know many that r happy adjusted dogs with working owners, they wait 4 their peeps 2 come home, then have walks. It's not as complex or difficult as some would have u believe.

  • did that woman sound a little bitter about the kids

  • i have a blue doberman go to my page and you can see him in my video

  • I was raised with a Doberman.

My grandparents had a doberman i loved that dog she was 10 years old when i was 7 or 8 i know she would have lived more cuz my grandparents take excellent care of their dogs, but some bastard didn't like her and gave her poison it was sad to let her go she was a wonderful dog. and now that i am 16 own 2 dobermans my heart will forever belong to the Doberman breed!

this is video is 100% true!

  • you should have pressed charges, I hate assholes that kills animals

  • the thing is we didn't know who did it! it was horrible not knowing who did it. it devastated my grandfather not knowing who did it he actually posted a flier with a reward for anyone that knew anything about the killer.

  • man that sucks when some sneaky bastard poisons your dog.

i wish they would come and knock on the door and talk to the owner if they have a problem instead they act like cowards in the night.

my dog died 8 months ago the same way...

  • Yea I wish he/she had come to nook on the door that way we probably could have prevented her death

  • Ahh, the age-old nature vs. nurture argument. You know, there are people who have devoted their entire lives to studying nature vs. nurture in dogs. I would recommend Dr. Bruce Fogle, with his notable work, "The Dog's Mind," or "Dogs" by Raymond and Lorna Coppinger. Both are seminal works.

  • The only problem with doberman pinchers is their bad rep. People like me who have met and owned them know better, but it becomes a pain if your trying to find a place to rent and you own one

  • Exactly, that should be in the breed description.

"You will get silent stares or wild eyed enthusiasm every time you tell someone you want or own a Doberman."

I'm finally about to get a Dobe, after wanting one since I was a kid, and I typically avoid telling people what type of dog I'm getting because of the stereotype. People just don't understand.

  • I agree with you. My grandpa had a doberman that was the best dog I had ever seen. Now that my husband and I have a home we are going to purchase a Doby. They are great dogs and wonderful companions.

  • Dog looks cool,. You dress like a weirdo though.
