In discovering Chopin's music my top favorite was changing all the time. Each time an even better one popped up. Nocturne 19 is my last favorite and it could very well be my final one. This piece is just incredible. How is it possible Chopin had to die first before it was released?
I will definitely record my own version no matter how long it takes to learn it.
@xarmil Passion yes, but excitement not so much. I just started learning this piece and after listening to it so many times the soul of the song seems to display tranquility, emotion and sadness. Leave the excitement for a nocturne like op. 9 no. 2 or the minute waltz. Just my opinion.
Every time I say "this is my fave nocturne" I find another one even better.. WHY are Chopin's nocturnes (as well as all the other pieces) SO BEAUTIFUL??!
@love4nana707 After listening to so much of chopin's music you begin to hear the similarities. I think that every note he ever wrote down on paper was always in respect to his very unique composing style, something you will not find with other composers.
My girlfriend gave me this link after her disapproving my playing … I have just realized how wrong my approach has been all these years. How infinite infinitesimally shamed and inadequate I feel …
I can only play two of chopins nocturnes and this is one of them. I love playing it, its so relaxing and you can just switch off into your own little world lol.
Nostalgic... This composition touches you in the deepness of your soul. It makes me think that early or later, the time takes away everything you had know, and everybody you had love. I'd like to say the Miss that appears in 2:18 sec. is most beautiful thing I ever saw on the earth,
This is one of my favorite Nocturnes to play. Those of you who are criticizing did you listen to the whole piece? It is brilliant towards the end. If this were one of my pupils I would tell him or her to bring out the left hand more.
She is a Japanese, well trained, but her music is not great. This is not the problem, but much more worse, she doesnt know this and the audience, too.
I very much agree your view. She is not good pianist at all. If everyone think she is superb pianist, everyone must see ear doctor. Or, they know nothing of music at all. She is not at level of professional musician by any means. Even this nocturne makes up fall asleep. A nocturne should not be a sentimental lullaby, although I feel this is not as abysmal as her Ravel Pavanne, at least. BUT, I enjoyed very much the movie of this video. So, all in all, I feel that this is a good video.
she have skill but no spirit...she is not playing she is operating, music is not medicine,in other ways she is ok but trully borring, sorry baby,,,she is not emotional no empathic ability no currage no self identity in another order not too much...this should tear your hart out not bore you to death...if you want a savant explination i dont have to much time but...ok all the respect
"music is not medicine" :) and I say medicine is as much an art as is music. I agree with you, she is perhaps not bad technically but much is missing in expression. In my opinion, Biret does the best job of Chopin's Op.72.
expression is a *wing of spirit* in any arts...sure in music too...is nice to see that all these tehicians are not getting it...i mean the ability to be free interpretating others creations...no good can be in adulating tehicians in arts...also in music...the joy of music is missing in her play...sad but true...evolution must be a triky thing...

I think it's not bad technically, but it just lacks a bot of nuances. A bit of feelings perhaps.
