Technically speaking, this game IS part of the Metal Gear series. Its set between MGS 2 and 4, to actually show how Raiden becomes a cyborg. Of course its not part of MGS series, its Rising, not Solid. Nothing much of Solid Snake's suppose to be in this game.

Well, the Gekko sounded enough like a Gekko to me and the ! sound was correct, too, so hope!

It's cool for change, playing solid snake a lot gets old, I liked playing Raiden in MGS2 SoL, so maybe Raiden fans want to know more about his story. Like we did for Big Boss, in MGS3 SE. Raidens not about stealth like in 2, in MGS4 he never stealthed, he was always in the front of the action slicing and dicing. So why all the scrubs complain about this? Yah the graphics kinda suck.

@o27001 Not a spin off more like a second season. It was called Metal gear solid:Rising but if you remove the stealth and espionage then the SOLID gets removed. They will probably do more than one of these. Like a part two...or a prequel like they did with MGS3.

I'm looking forward to this spinoff. The game play looks like it could be rather fun. And to everybody complaining, it's a spinoff. It's not Metal Gear Solid, it's Metal Gear Rising. Kojima is overseeing it so it'll still have a good story.

The only fact that one of these robots appears in the game, or in the story of the game which we don't know anything yet, is enough for it to have "metal gear" on the title. Plus, the game is from Konami, produces by Kojima himself, so if he wants it to have "metal gear" on the title he can do it, even if it's a game about a pony who likes roses...

Its Raiden's Side of Story now. just because it shows all that slicing action doesn't mean it aint gonna be the original stealth game its supposed to be, there could be parts in the game where u have to use stealth too. ALL OF THIS WAS DONE LEGALLY, AND THIS GAME IS STILL PART OF THE METAL GEAR FRANCHISE. So calm the hell down man. Kojima wasn't involved in this because his crew was developing the FOX game engine.

i just finished watching MGS4 cutscene's and I didn't played any of the games before also, and it is... i am speechless that game breed's in awesomeness and breed's out epicness. I am very happy that Metal Gear Rising: Revengence is coming out for PC but they have to do HELL of a JOB if they want to achieve the same quality as MGS4 not to speak if they want to surpass it :). If i had the money to buy i PS 3 and decent HD TV MGS4 would be my first game and all other games from the series.

@o27001 Not a spin off more like a second season. It was called Metal gear solid:Rising but if you remove the stealth and espionage then the SOLID gets removed. They will probably do more than one of these. Like a part two...or a prequel like they did with MGS3.

I'm looking forward to this spinoff. The game play looks like it could be rather fun. And to everybody complaining, it's a spinoff. It's not Metal Gear Solid, it's Metal Gear Rising. Kojima is overseeing it so it'll still have a good story.

@SGTRaffaele "metal gear" is the name of the gaint robot, be it metal gear rex or metal gear ray. The only fact that one of these robots appears in the game, or in the story of the game which we don't know anything yet, is enough for it to have "metal gear" on the title. Plus, the game is from Konami, produces by Kojima himself, so if he wants it to have "metal gear" on the title he can do it, even if it's a game about a pony who likes roses...

@Pikintool No it won't, in the interviey the story writers said they changed the story from between mgs2-4 to post mgs4, so platinum games would have more freedom to implement more gameplay styles and elements

and just to let u all know, metal gear truly became a TEA (Tactical Espionage Action) when Metal Gear SOLID came out. the game METAL GEAR while based on espionage, was not considered one. so a variant of METAL GEAR could for example be a "hack n' slash"

Its Raiden's Side of Story now. just because it shows all that slicing action doesn't mean it aint gonna be the original stealth game its supposed to be, there could be parts in the game where u have to use stealth too. But dont complain too much about it just because they switched to a different path. the game took a struggle in development in 09 so Kojima sent it over to Platinum games.

@VideoLogDotCom Actually in an interview, Kojima said his original team wasn't making the game fast enough, so they handed everything they made to Platinum Games, a company speacializing in action games. The story was completely rewritten (between mgs2-4 to post mgs4), gameplay style changed, etc.
ALL OF THIS WAS DONE LEGALLY, AND THIS GAME IS STILL PART OF THE METAL GEAR FRANCHISE. So calm the hell down man. Kojima wasn't involved in this because his crew was developing the FOX game engine.

As long as they aren't planning on doing this with upcomming games (ideas) such as another story with big boss or solid snake. Those games has to stay stealth games. As for Raiden, I guess he could have games like these hence he's a cyborg after all. Tho I hope this game will have long cutscenes like the other games. Though I doubt... The story is what makes the mg series so great.

i just finished watching MGS4 cutscene's and I didn't played any of the games before also, and it is... i am speechless that game breed's in awesomeness and breed's out epicness. I am very happy that Metal Gear Rising: Revengence is coming out for PC but they have to do HELL of a JOB if they want to achieve the same quality as MGS4 not to speak if they want to surpass it :). If i had the money to buy i PS 3 and decent HD TV MGS4 would be my first game and all other games from the series.
