  • can this be imitated using Portal the video game?

  • Reminds me of that movie, Cube. I think a saw some blood and body parts on the 12th room.

  • isnt that from that awful movie "cube 2 hypercube"?

  • @elchapetas That movie was fine, and pretty scary in it's own kind of way.

  • @Destructoid17 its inside my category of "the shittiest movies ever", terrible conceptualization, terrible graphics, terrible amtosphere music, terrible actors and terrible acting, the ending was the most awful part, whats up with the lake in the warehouse?

  • the movie was better

  • @BlueNightmare3 ]:o ..... XD

  • At 0:14 the doors should have closed and the player should have been immediately incinerated.

Oh wait this isn't the movie

  • should be called 'life in side a rubix cube' lmao

  • this is from the movie hypercube it's so damn epic

  • im drawn to math people probably because i find it all incredibly difficult to understand..

  • What would a civilization of 4D aliens be like?

  • @TheLairOfRockwhales well considering humans live in 4 dimensions, probably not much different.

  • I've seen this movie.

  • this is the exact same design as the movie cube2- hypercube. The doorways and ladders are exactly the same.

  • this is that fail horror movie the cube rofl

  • @aids696969 it's not fail it depends of what movies do u like -_-

  • @tomattosfutleimierda your opinion is not valid

  • @aids696969 fuck you

  • @tomattosfutleimierda lol tell someone who cares

  • @aids69696 oh ok good for you

  • how can there be a fourth demision is we can not c it

  • I swear that is the exact same layout as in the film hypercube.

  • @CursedMonkey666 isn't that movie just called Cube? or am i thinking of a different movie? with the savant and the teacher and the cop and the criminal?

  • search for "Hypercube Trailer in English". If you havent seen this trilogy. and like mathematics and cubes. Then go see them!!!!!!!! NOW!!!!!!!

  • See the horror trilogy CUBE, CUBE 2 HYPERCUBE and CUBE ZERO.....man....horror for scientists............

  • Please, why are you doing an endless falling? I don't understand it.

  • Oh snap.

This is JUST like the movie of the same name, Hypercube.

So in each 3D space, there could be a different instance of a different time happening?

  • A real hypercube It is a closed, compact, convex figure whose 1-skeleton consists of groups of opposite parallel line segments aligned in each of the space's dimensions, at right angles to each other and of the same length!

    FAIL!

  • @angelmassb u sound like a nerd

  • Says ye watching a video about a hypercube

  • @angelmassb

Who are you saying has failed here? This is a first-person perspective from the "surface" of a hypercube, which is to be inside of the eight 3D rooms.

  • Comment removed

  • wtf ripped off the movie... still that isnt a good hypercube

  • Commenting partially just to drive Entropy insane. But sweet vid, reminds me of Cube 2 a lot (although that isn't entirely a good thing)

  • This is incredibly simple to explain. You'd expect each side of the cube to be a cube in 4D. But really, each side is just a line.

  • uh. hypercubes are actually 3d objects. google it. you're thinking of a tesseract.

  • @alanochanman I looked it up. Hypercube is a cube of ANY dimension higher than 3. Tesseract refers to the 4th dimensional hypercube. "3D hypercubes" can only be PROJECTIONS of hypercubes.

  • Exactly.

  • LIES!, the hypercube is kinda the equivalent of a wormhole and requires two hypercubes to completely describe in two diffrent parts of spacetime.

  • all this looks like is coloring the walls in the movie Cube 2: Hypercube... GAY

  • if u cannot persieve the 4th dimension then it does not exist. you can believe it exists and think it might exists but it does not untill it is directly integrated into your brain as you may say the 3rd dimension is

  • 2d thinkin

  • Lol, portal ftw.

  • looks like Portal.

  • Yeah this is probably that Half Life 2 based thing.

  • uhh iam only 13 so i dont know much about this...wtf isa hypercube? i saw the movie hypercube is it the same thing as what its used for on that movie, and if it is..why where the built?

  • omg if you saw the movie you should know... its a 4 dimensional cube.

  • i know its a 4 dimensional cube!! iam not blind >.>, i whant to know what is it used for? is it the same sorta thing on the movie or on the movie do they just make a death trap version of one? XD

  • No, it's not a deathtrap. It's a theoretical construct, it can't be used for anything, since it doesnt exist. What we see is a model.

  • They can't be built because we don't live in the fourth dimension, we live in the third dimension, So it is physically impossible in our universe. Think of it like:

"What if we did live in 4D, what would a cube look like?" And a hypercube is what you would get.

  • :o it just looked like cube within a cube, so on..

  • This is like Portal XD

  • oh, so in hypercubes, the sides are all connected, so if i were to go through one side, if i kept going in that direction i would come out the other end

  • lol it is the frame work of the movie cube2:hypercube. but you collered it and put it in a 3d simulator

  • This is like locking some 2D-entity inside a cube, and the the entity would walk on all surfaces (walls and everything) and believe it is all 2D ----- BUT, in fact, as we all know, it runs around in 3D.

  • this is just the set of the movie cube represented digitally...

  • that whole film was filmed inside just one cube

  • I believe it. they did a very good job. excellent canadian movie. math based horror is the best kind.

  • Hypercube + Half-Life x Windows 95 maze screen saver = THIS

  • This room is green....I wana go back to the blue room...back...i wana go back....Back....back..........

  • if i watch enough of these movies im bound to understand one of them lol

  • lol my thinking exactly

  • Yup, there goes my brain again......

  • wait...... so this is just the surface? So were not actually "inside" the cube?

    This is SO confusing.... :/

  • Thinking about the 3D analogy can help make this make more sense. With a cube, you have 6 faces. Think of each of those faces as a square two dimensional room connected to four others. In order for a 2D being in one of those rooms to move into an adjacent room, he has to go around a 90 degree bend in a direction that he cannot perceive.

  • @0xentropy I didn't really follow this, do you have another analogy? or possible rephrasing of this?

  • @Mrules4ever maybe the uploader doesn't know the definition of "surface"

  • this is not a hypercube at all, but rather a cubic lattice

  • haha this was a movie called cube.

  • My, this looks like a Doom 2-level taking place in Cube 2: Hypercube, and the player uses IDCLIP to move through walls :))) Nice work!

  • Woot Cube 2: Hypercube memories xD

All realities are going to collapse...

  • Nice portal engine!

  • Wait... In the info for this video, you are saying that a tesseract has 8 surfaces? Do you even know what a resseract is?

  • Would it be clearer if instead of surfaces I said '3D faces'?

  • If by '3d faces' you mean a cubical cell, which it's the ontly thing you could mean by it, then I should take back what I said and yes, it would be clearer.

  • @0xentropy Yes actually, in every reply and comment you have made you made it seem like it was the most advanced shit in the world, maybe be a little more clear for the average dip shit (Youtubers).

  • People should make this into a children's soft play area, really.

  • u so copied that from the movie, gj though it was a good movie

  • Duh...

  • This is not a hypercube. It's just a bunch of cubes adjacent to each other in 3 dimensions. This is like saying that a checkerboard is a cube. It's not. It's a fucking checkerboard.

  • Actually, I claimed it was the /surface/ of a hypercube. Which is indeed just a bunch of connected cubes. However, they are connected in 4 dimensions, just as the surface of a cube is connected in 3. The cubes are not simply adjacent in 3D space.

  • We haven't been moving in circles, the rooms have...

  • Yup.. you did claim that. Vindication! sweet : )~ The difficult (rather, impossible!) aspect of this is demonstrating the movment "around", into the next cube. That "movement" is what has to happen "into" the 4th dimension (just as 'wrapping around" a cube requires movement "into" the 3rd dimension). This 4D wrapping/moving around the "corner" CAN'T be done/shown in our 3D reality (much less on a 2D screen!). Nice to watch though! Although totally imPOSSible to effectively demonstrate ;-)

  • this made more sense that the actual movie, by the way hypercube SUCKED!

  • that came straight out of cube 2: hypercube, except for the colour

  • wtf looks like the CUBE movie :)

  • heh whats that its not or hyper cube what is that?

  • What program(s) are used here?

  • I wrote this program myself (C++ and DirectX)

  • Neat. Still got a copy? I'd love to mess around in a cube...

  • a tesseract is basically a number of cubes existing at the same time in overlapping positions. bad analogy...

  • Eh, I suppose, in the same way that a cube is a number of squares existing at the same time in overlapping positions...

  • Way to pretty much copy Cube (the movie)!

  • lol yeah, except that cube had an end. It's more like Cube 2 movie, but still.

  • Uh I doubt a 4th deminsional tesseract would look like that XD That is from the movie hypercube, a sequal to the movie cube, which was a sci-fi horrer, this is a tf2 map for it.

  • It might look like that if it was designed by the same people who designed the set for the film.

  • This is a team fortress 2 map...

  • wow...portal-ish. lol

  • yah this is ecaxtly the same thing as hypercube i hated that movie. Cube 1 was the best cube 3 was good too

  • watch this when you are on shrooms or something :D

  • i just watched that movie and didint understand one pice of shit of it, but alfter watching this, I tottaly understand now, wierd

  • lol

  • Anyone seen the movie Hypercube?

  • i saw the 1. part

  • that was used in the movie hypercube. good job

  • this hypercube was used in the film The Cube!

    Great animation!

  • wasnt there like a movie on this? where people go thru rooms and theres random shit in every room?

  • yes the movie is Cube ,also there are two sequels Hybercube and cube zero ( ive never seen, but heard they suck) the first movie was pretty cool.

  • Cube Zero is the prequel to Cube.

    Cube Zero

    Cube

    Cube 2: Hyperspace

  • hyper"cube"

  • no

    cube

    cube 2

    cube zero

cube zero was the last beeing filmed

  • I was typing it in the order it goes from prequel to sequel.

  • yes ;)

i got it on the moment

i was just saying the correct timings ;)

  • whoh, so 4D is like a endless road of rooms

  • oh this was THAT hypercube... im not much into horror...and the hypercube but me off it for about 4 years...rofl...

  • I wanna go back to the blue room.

    <3

  • i like this idea, esp. the ending.

  • nice one, i like it, looks just like the film, and it gave me a good idea of what its like to be inside a tessaract, thanks!

  • i like the second blue room better then the first blue room ;)

  • ey lol i guess i got the point xD

  • woah, this interior desing is from cube 2 hypercube, right? cool! i liked that movie... of course the hypercube in it was a bit more than just a tesseract...

i like this version better! 8 rooms right?

  • Yeah, I borrowed their room design and adapted it to actual tesseract geometry. There are exactly 8 rooms. If you check out the newer version of this video (see the video responses) there is a compass which shows how the rooms fit together better.

  • But other people is also developing a project like this. Here is another one made in Visual Basic and Direct3D:

    mircscripts(dot)org(slash)viewImage.php?cid=1374&v=b&p=2&r=0

    (dot) = .

    (slash) = /

  • Looks interesting, I'd be interested to see if they have the rooms interconnecting like a real tesseract and how they handle gravity (room local vs object local)

  • Did you see the screenshot?

Remember to remove the space between

    cid=1374&v

    and

    =b&p=2&r=0

  • I did see it... the artwork is nice, but the problem is it is hard to tell what is really going on from only seeing a still shot of one room. I saw a half life mod which had similarly styled rooms, but it just made a maze with them rather than actually connecting them like the faces of a tesseract.

  • Well, you can talk with Nooxer about it. Hes the creator of that Hypercube Game. Maybe you could have some good ideas to each other.

  • I have seen all three films, and like them very much (i own the 3dvd box set). Ive been looking for a game of any of the cube films for about 2 years!

Is there any chance you could send me the files?

I have visual studio (incase it has not been compiled into an exe yet!)

please reply, i am eagerly awaiting!

    It looks brilliant so far!

  • There is "game" in this videos tags.

What is the name of this "game"?

I am very interested in these things. ;)

  • This is a demo I made in one of my classes using my engine. It is not a full fledged game... at least not yet ;)

  • What languages is it developed in? And what Graphics Library?

    C++? OpenGL?

What platforms will/is it available for?

Windows, Unix-like (Linux, BSD, Solaris), OS X?

But keep the good work. ;)

  • C++ and DX9, so windows only.

  • Anyways, it can be emulated, since its Windows binarys. There is a Direct3D implementation for Wine (and CrossOver).

But i am triple booting with Mac OS X Leopard, Windows Vista Ultimate and Linux Ubuntu Hardy Heron. ;)

  • This is cool :)

    Good work :)

  • Looks like a good rail arena to me.

  • hahaah asd

  • thats off the film "cube 2: hypercube"

  • The surface of a cube is two dimensional, but you can't unfold it onto a 2D plane without tearing or cutting it somewhere. Similarly, the surface of a 4D hypercube is three dimensional, but there is no way that those rooms could be connected to each other the way they are if the cubes were not folded at their connecting faces through 4D space. Every time you go between two rooms, you make a 90 degree turn that is invisible to you.

  • and where is the 4.D?

  • how cube2 hypercube works
