The only reason the financial collapse didn't hurt me personally was that in 2008 I had nothing to begin with. My parents lost the home I grew up in, but me personally I was on the outside looking in for years before the crisis.
@ArtificialRed1083 I hear ya. I often turn my car off if I'm waiting for my son to get out of school or any other time I'm sitting idle just so I can save gas, often we avoid going to visit family & friends because we can't afford the gas to get there or have to decide between getting gas or buying food.
Financial intuitions are getting ready to collapse because of the yoyo effect in the stock market. The stock market is an old and antiquated system that doesn't work any more and we are stuck with it . It's a good thing that the wall street types didn't get their hands on the social security fund, can you imagine the hit we would have taken.
wtf you idiots talking about people losing money? LOL If any of you 'fat-cat' bashers got even 5 minutes to read...you'd learn about different ways to make money on the way down. I'm sure more fat-cats got even fatter during this crash.
fast eddie, look a little closer the fat cats lost nothing. The American People bailed them out. Wall Street OWNS the Government & by extension... all of us.
these were the good ole days. I love to see fat cats on wall street lose money. I'm hoping for many more days like this one. Maybe they'll know how a blue collar working schmuch like me feels
@fasteddie847 Well, if it only were fat cats losing money in this drama it would all been al right, but since this was the starting shot fot a financial crisis that effected the whole world, I do not fully agree with you. Everyone from workers to fat cats from america to europe lost their works and cash. No more days like this!
It wasn't just CNBC who was expecting the market to open down -1000...so were the futures. That was a very confusing and scary morning for everyone on the trading desks, especially when you can't trade index futures. And you clearly don't have much money invested in the market if you say the market "only sinks" 400 points.

this could have only been oct 8 or 9 2008 or Oct 27th timeframe. Given the reaction of the people used to it I think the 27th.
