Haha I believe I know a bit more about viedo editing than you... Being I have 3 years experience in Adobe After Effects. There are easier ways to explain this. Some blob or some stuff fell there and below air pockets from a broken gas line started building. That explains the moving. Later air pockets get blown so it moves down again.

Also I believe someone wouldn't take his time editing a few weeks a video like this.
