Lynch should have tooken the best play award. As a play, Lynch's run was much better, not to mention the stadium triggered a minor earthquake during the play. Anytime a play triggers an Earthquake in a game where you might not of even been in if you didnt win the previous game, where you were supposed to get blown out, and break 9 tackles is deserving of the best play.
Soccer gets barely any love in the States. It's too bad, the game has such style and grace. Unlike other sports you really have to be in shape to play it and watch it. Maybe that's why America doesn't like it. People are just too lazy.
@Music65through85 i see you haven't played any other sports. Every played football? My brother plays for an under-aged group for Everton FC. The conditioning we do is much tougher than what he or any other sport i've seen does.
You see all the other nominees for best play of the year......some were scored where it was almost impossible to score.....that takes skills. Not saying that Wambach's goal was not good......but it shouldn't have won over the other nominees.
@mcpn2011 Rapinoe to Wambach is the most exciting score I have ever seen in any sport. Making a play like this when it counts most makes it so special.
Its not about being in the right place at the right time.. Abby called for the ball and did what she does best and head the goal.. Rapinoe made the cross of her life! Just an amazing goal, not being lucky, but doing what you do best!
HOW IS THIS BEST PLAY OF THE YEAR??? It MAY be a "clutch play" of the year. Wambach was just at the right place at the right time following a miss by the brazilian goalie.
USA did a fantastic job this match. The odds were stacked against them but that didn't matter cuz they never gave up and if they can beat Brazil with 10 players I have a good feeling about the game against france tomorrow. France are formadable opponents indeed and I like their crossaints but the USa team is strong, determined, plays very hard, and has a fighting spirit that can never be put out. I think and I hope USa makes it to the finals for the 3rd time! USA! USA! USA!
2 things I just noticed in your description... 1) You have Wambach's name misspelled, you should fix that and add a tag to the video too. 2) "Just is served?" I think you mean "Justice is served." :D
@L8onL8on Hahaha. Fair enough. I thought I fixed them all. Sorry, was in a hurry to post it as I running out to the pitch to play a game myself! Thanks.
Ian Darke wasn't the announcer for last year's Men's World Cup, it was Martin Tyler. Tyler is the top announcer for Sky for their Premiership coverage. He did worked for ESPN for the World Cup because Sky didn't have the rights in England. He will be back for Brazil 2014. Ian is now the lead announcer for ESPN's USMNT coverage and MLS.
@LocoChopper Darke was the commentator for USA-Algeria here in the States :). Not sure if you were referring to that but if you notice he says the exact same line: "OH CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS?!" :)
This actually beats the Donovan Algeria goal in terms of epicness due to being at 122' vs 90+1'. To think, I never thought Donovan's goal could be surpassed. My eyes were watering too. Absolutely EPIC.
@jakeklop assuming they're both single maybe thats a future couple lol. And then maybe Howard and Solo. And maybe there's someone willing to be with Jermaine Jones.
See you in 5 and a half hours Japan

@nguyensasian Brazil fans. After this game, I think Brazil was the only country to like Brazil - even the crowd turned on them.

I never imagined that Donovan's goal would be upstaged in my lifetime for a U.S. team. It only took a year! what a goal!
