I have to admit I hated the change of costume, the first one is far better in my opinion :P On a closer look, the Dark Knight suit (the mask particularly) looks ridiculous!
I think both Bat costumes look silly; the armour on the DK costume reminds me of the chest detail on Kilmer's suit! Batman Begins bored me; Dark Knight was fantastic even though Bale's Batman is not that great
hmm , the old batman in Begins looked a bit more.. meatier and Buffer! But at a terrible price.. the bulkiness of the suit slowed both the character down, and the actor portraying him. Even tho TDK's costume is a lil skinnier, Batman is more agile now and able to do more stuff. That's what always annoyed me about most BAtman films, it appeared that he was too heavy and slow because of the suit
I love Begins. The way the costume was design was to give you the feeling he was always moving forward. Like he was going to pounce on you at any second. At times he almost look like a giant black panther. In dark Knight the outfit made him look smaller and less powerful looking. I hope they make some changes to Rises.
@b7r7u7c7e It is the very same suit!! And I agree with what you do, the Begins costume was better, he really was intimidating, scary, menacing and most of all A BAT!!! In TDK he looks like a SWAT team with a cape and a cowl!! Moreover, you can hardly see his eyes, he looks like a blind maul, and even if he should look like a blind bat, he is not as menacing as a bat!!!
Dark Knight was a better movie (the Joker made that movie though), but Begins had a better costume. Why care if he can't turn his head? He's not Owlman.
i like begins better because its more about batman and you see the dark badass side to him. tdk was awesome rip heath ledger :( hes role was amazing, but im more of a batman fan then a joker fan and tdk focused to much on the joker and not enough on batman, i also like batmans costume in begins way better!!
I am NOT a fan of Nolan's Batman films, but I did like Batman Begins ALOT better than The Dark Knight. It had an actual storyline that was somewhat interesting and Bale's Batman voice wasn't as annoying as in TDK.
You are entitled to your opinion of course just like I am. The only movie, one that I've seen anyways, that I liked Bale in was American Psycho. He was great in that. But Batman, no way. I could not stand how he portrayed Batman. But Batman Begins was a little better than The Dark Knight.
TDK suit is better because of its flexability and ability to hide more gadgets, but it's more grey than black like begins. and as cool as it is, i prefer the BB suit simply because it looks more like batman and he looks bigger and darker. plus (I know the TDK suit is better for what he does but it does leave him more vulnerable to bullets and blades whereas BB will stop them with ease.
i'd have to say that dark knight suit is better, but not caues of how it looked or anything, more due to the fact that batman can actualy turn his head which wasnt possible with the begins costume. As well as this the broken down plates actualy give him more flexability then the original whick was prety resrticting. The DK costume also has hidden gizmos and weapons on the suit while begins was prety much just a suit, so speaking in practical terms yeah the DK costume wins
I think the right one looks much better, which I think is begins...the left just looks ahoy wierd, I think the mouth cut out is also too small and round
Begins is better, much better pacing and the origin story is probably the most interesting part of both films. Plus TDK felt a little like a Michael Mann film at times, like it was trying to copy a different style. Begins felt like it had its own style. I think Nolan himself understands this, cause he said he is not only making TDK Rises come full circle with the first movie, but also said it will be more in the style of the first one. They are both v good films though.
@Kilox1000 I disagree, people may think TDK is better cause it is more recent and had ten times more hype, but more and more people are starting to think batman begins is actually the better film. I agree with these people. Its a personal opinion, and both films are great. But in terms of pacing, and story structure, begins is a better film.
there is one thing i miss from batman begins, it's that batman made scary to other, he used fear as weapon. But in the dark knight, now nobody is afraid of bats... yes, bb was epic with ras al goul ... the secend one too, ant the third, no doubt on it. i miss just the fear as weapon. it was so realistic, a real ninja. i hope bats will reminds what ras al goul teached him for the next movie. (i apologise for my bad english)
there both horrible the Dark Knight batman is to bulky he doesn't look swift and stealthy it looks like you would hear him coming from a mile away and he has a big nose, and with Batman Begins its to thin I looks like an anorexic batman. Michael Keaton is truly the best serious Batman (Adam West is the best Batman overall deal with it) but Dark Knight was the best movie though weird.
@superseth39 that is one of the weirdest comments I have ever heard. It didn't make any sense... " and with batman begins its to thin I looks like an anorexic batman? Really?
And you say you can hear batman comming from a mile away, in batman begins he is like a cat. I think you are joking, you must be. No one can be this stupid. Michael keatons batman is like a 100 punds with a tiny voice. Even my sister could kick his ass. Get a grib my friend
Batman Begins costume looks way better but, the Dark Knight costume is shot better in The Dark Knight Rises trailer so it looks good there. But still, Begins costume is much better.
I like the cape on the Batman Begins suit a little better. It acts more as a cloak. But the cowl in The Dark Knight is more awesome: the head's sleeker and the eyes are creepier. It beats the hell out of the one in Batman Begins, Batman and Robin, and Batman Forever. Maybe even Batman Returns. The overall suit is a toss up for me between The Dark Knight and Batman. The ONLY thing that sucks about TDK suit is the boots. Get those to blend with the rest of the suit and you have a winner.
A year ago A girl named Kathy was hated by everyone. Everyone made fun of her. She was ignored. Even by messages. more.... One day she decided to kill herself. Because even her parents ignored her. . Kathy haunted them. She made them suffer like the way she did. She hung them slowly and stabed them over and over very slowly so they could suffer like she did.
If you don't send this message to 15 diffrent comments you will die tonight by Kathy.
@kacapar Batman Begins is the best Batman movie. Batman returns is a good movie but is nothing like the comics. Batman stuck a grenade down someone's pants and then threw him in a well and killed him, batman doesn't kill. Ra's is a better villain and we actually establish Bruce Wayne rather then just character pieces for the villains. Batman 1989 is even worth comparing
Batman Begins was a near perfect Batman movie. The Dark Knight didn't focus on Batman, or any Batman themes, the city didn't look like Gotham, there was no BatCave, the suit was not iconic, the voice was too gravelly, Katie Holmes was replaced, they screwed up Two-Face, and it just felt like a Court room style movie.
@EdwardNygma1 Where was Batman Begins close to near perfect? It had a great origin story, but lacked a proper villain.. TDK had Batman themes: Ever heard of Escalation? That's a constant theme in Batman: The Long Halloween.. Madness and Chaos? That's a constant theme in a typical Joker story.. The only thing where TDK loses points was that the city was not all that Gotham-esque.. And BB falls majorly because they fucked up Scarecrow who was more cooler and interesting than Ra's Al Ghul
@Mordor6121512 How did it lack a proper villain? It had Ra's Al Ghul as the main villain, with Scarecrow as a pawn. The Dark Knight only had themes of chaos really...that's it. The Dark Knight loses points because it fucked up Gotham, fucked up Batman's suit, fucked up Rachel, fucked up Two-Face and killed him off, had no BatCave, and most of all, fucked up the themes of Batman! It didn't feel like a Batman movie!
@EdwardNygma1 Batman Begins did not suffer from what Spidey 3 did, but it would have had it not been an origin story for Batman.. The villains kept shifting from Ra's Al Ghul to Carmine Falcone to Scarecrow and back to Ra's Al Ghul.. I think Scarecrow should have been the only main villain.. And TDK did well on the themes of Batman: It was dark, chaotic (Joker) and had themes of Escalation just like in The Long Halloween.. I don't need to repeat myself, so please stop being ignorant..
@Mordor6121512 No, it really wouldn't have. It didn't keep shifting around every 5 seconds. It was a system. Falcone was working for Scarecrow, and Scarecrow was working for Ras. It was a cool reveal for the first time watching, and just a cool system overall. Scarecrow being the only villain would have eliminated the epic origin story and climax...
@EdwardNygma1 Scarecrow being the only villain would have made the movie more better.. And who said Chaos does not make work well on a Batman story? Joker unleashes chaos.. And if you didn't like The Long Halloween, well its your opinion.. Now I can see where your distaste for The Dark Knight comes from.. To me, both BB and TDK delivered well on being Batman movies, more so than the old ones. I think Nolan did a better job in being more closer to the comics than Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher..
@Mordor6121512 No, it really wouldn't have. Without Ra's there wouldn't have been the damn good origin story. There wouldn't have been the damn good climax. It's very ignorant of you to say that Scarecrow should have been the only villain, honestly. I was all for the Scarecrow coming back and being in full costume for a sequel, but they fucked that chance up.
@Mordor6121512 Chaos is an element in in Batman stories, but that's not what it's all about. It shouldn't be shoved in your face. The Long Halloween fucked with canon and gave bad character portrayals. My distaste for The Dark Knight comes from it not getting the themes of Batman across clearly. I don't know how many times I have to tell you that. TDK is better than the older movies but it's not a good Batman movie.
@EdwardNygma1 Like I said, your opinion.. You have a distaste for the source of TDK's inspiration, I wouldn't be surprised that you dislike the movie also.. Millions of Batman fans agree Nolan succeeded in making both his Batman films more closer to the comics than Burton or Schumacher
@Mordor6121512 Not my opinion at all, just facts. No, that is a generalization. If you asked someone who knows the Batman stories, they would tell you that Nolan's movies are highly inaccurate and something he created himself most of the time or took from graphics novels.
@EdwardNygma1 You mean its a fact that The Dark Knight sucked? Look bro, 99% of the world loved TDK more than BB, that's a fact.. Your distaste for TDK is just your taste.. Comic book adaptions are not meant to be note for note adaptions, the comics are just a source of reference for the filmmakers..
@Mordor6121512 No, it's a fact that it sucked as a Batman movie. As a regular film it's not bad. 99% is not an accurate percent, that is just you and your generalizing. My distate for The Dark Knight is my good taste. lol. In the case of Batman, you are right about it not needing to be note for note, cause otherwise we would have Spandex. But Nolan crossed too many lines, fucked with too many characters, got rid of themes in TDK...
@EdwardNygma1 There have been many batman writers and artists over the years and there will be many more to come, each telling their own story of the caped crusader. So there is no such thing as 100% accurate batman. Nolan is merely adding his own version to the grand mythos, in a way its his own story and interpretation of the character. Why would I pay to watch a movie that is an exact retelling of another persons interpretation of TDK? That would be very redundant...
@EdwardNygma1 I'm telling you for the seventh time he didn't get rid of the themes.. I can see themes of Escalation and Chaos.. And if anybody is crossing a line its you.. Sure it may not be as accurate as BB as you claim.. But its not 99% inaccurate, its not as innacurate as the Shumacher.. You just want to see a Batman movie which is 100% accurate note for note.. Hell even the many writers of the comics retold the characters in their own way, I shouldn't see why Nolan shouldn't do it
@EdwardNygma1 Tell me which other character did Nolan fuck up besides Two-Face? He basically retold Two-Face's story his own way (though I admit wasn't all that great).. Rachel was an original creation, his and Ledger's interpretation of the Joker is one of the best ever..
@Mordor6121512 Ledger's *characterization* of Joker was awesome. Nolan's writing and reinterpretation of the Joker and his storyline, even to the point of making his clown face makeup, was unnecessary and bogus. I have no problem with taking artistic license on a storyline... until you diverge SO far from the source material that you might as well write your own story with new characters with names of your own creation.
@todmeister You have no idea.Nolan took the ORIGINAL Joker from his first appearances and based the storyline off some of his acts.If you don't believe me look up Batman #1 comic. The Joker removes his make-up to disguise himself as a police officer to kill someone he threatened to kill, announces his crimes before commiting them, turns a mobsters plan into killing him into a backfire, and plants a bomb in a jail to escape the prison. All of which he did for unleashing chaos and terror just like TDK.
@todmeister I don't think Nolan diverged from the story at all.. He borrowed many elements of the Joker's acts from the Batman #1 comic, like Joker robbing and double-crossing criminals, and then announcing his murders etc.. Hell he even borrowed alot from the Joker in "The Killing Joke" where Joker wants to unleash madness.. Nolan's did an amazing job in interpreting the Joker.. It was basically Batman #1 retold in "The Long Halloween" style of storytelling
@biggeridiotthanu Well, not necessarily that he remembers it differently. In TDK I think it's pretty clear that he simply makes up his past every time he tells a 'scar story'. Nolan wanted the Joker to be an entity rather than a real person; much like how Batman is a symbol for justice, Joker is the symbol for chaos.
@Mordor6121512 Burton, Schumacher, and Nolan all failed in being comic book accurate. The difference is that Nolan succeeded in Batman Begins. He failed in TDK though and will fail on par with the old movies in The Dark Knight Rises.
@Mordor6121512 And no, The Dark Knight did not deliver well on being a Batman movie. You need to accept that. Chaos does not make a Batman movie. The Long Halloween is bad reference for a Batman movie! I'm not being ignorant, you are the one who is in denial of the facts.
@EdwardNygma1 TDK had many elements of a perfect Batman movie with its dark undertones, its complex story which reminds me of The Long Halloween, and of course The Joker as the main villain.. BB would have suffered the Spider-Man 3 syndrome had it not been for its origin story.
@Mordor6121512 I realise you put "IMO" there but you're starting to sound like you're just making everyone else seem wrong or something. Praise for the TDK yet nothing but bad points for the first. You keep on loving TDK, we'll keep on loving Begins. That's the beauty of film, it's subjective. Even the most terrible of movies can be great to some and seeing as, to me, Begins was the perfect Bat movie, TDK will remain Bat Heat, no matter how many times comments about themes are thrown about.
@Mordor6121512 The Dark Knight didn't really have a complex story. And Batman Begins suffering from Spider-Man 3 Syndrome, that's a bunch of bullshit.
@EdwardNygma1 "we'll keep on loving Begins"? You're probably the only one here since most fans of Begins would also say TDK is a better movie.. And TDK is considered superior worldwide.. TDK only fucked up Gotham, and no BatCave.. I did not really care about Two-Face as a villain because well, it was all about Joker.. But it played well in the themes of Batman.. You of all people would have to know how many themes and elements would be adapted from The Long Halloween, and The Killing Joke..
@Mordor6121512 Begins placed more emphasis on Bruce Wayne and Batman as the main character(s). It also showed the similarities between Ra's and Batman in terms of their goal, with their differences being the means to achieve said goal. Personally, I can't decide between the two, but belittling Begins isn't helping your case.
@Mordor6121512 Just because more people agree with you doesn't mean your opinion is an undeniable fact. You need to stop being ignorant yourself before claiming others to be. Like I said, movies are subjective. Stop letting your own opinion get the better of you. Fact is each Batman movie is perfect, great, crap, okay, mediocre, boring, exciting, etc, to many people. Right now, you're trying to argue someone else's opinion is wrong. Quite frankly a pointless thing to do and a waste of time.
@Mordor6121512 I think you're mixing up my comments with TheSteelStallion...way to go. You should care about Two-Face though, he could be a good villain if done correctly.
I liked Batman more in Batman Begins, now which movie is better, I would still give the edge to The Dark Knight, even though it's close, TDK had better fight scenes, more action, way more going on, more struggle with Batman, and of course, Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker. But it felt like it was a bit cluttered with all the action crammed into a movie, and Batman Begins was simpler and not so crazy and fast-paced, plus his voice was better as Batman and it was awesome to see his origin.
I was actually hoping for some sort of evaluation, perhaps some points got presented, ideas were exchanged...I was obviously mistaken...well, that was a waste of a coupon.
Batman Begins looks cooler but I prefer TDK suit not because of the look but because of the function here's 2: he can now actually turn his neck and when he gets caught by some crook choking him with a pole he can just shoot hi in the face with those things on his gaunclets
The batman begins one has a really big neck, which obviously we all know that Christian doesn't have that big of a neck. Mouth is good. The Dark Knight one, the neck to me is a bit to enclosed on his neck, but that would probably help with it's movement. And the mouth is to also pretty enclosed....that's probably how he got fucking throat cancer too. But this was my opinion, I like them both. I'm just kinda on the fence on this one. BUT I LOVE THE MOVIES!
Batman begins suit is freaking scary the dark knight suit looks like a joke just imagine to run into batman from TDK at night umm not so scary now imagine running into the batman begins batman Holly Shit ! please don't hurt me mr. bat !
BB was closer to the original but in TDK he needed a better developed suit with a turnable head so it changed into that. I think I prefer TDK suit. TDK was definitely the better film but ONLY because BB set it up so perfectly. It gave the audience the introduction of Bruce Wayne and made the audience understand the character and the tribulations he goes through to do what he does and so TDK was given the licence to be all out madness and the better film. The trilogy will be the best of all time.
well he cannot turn his head in Dark Knight and all in all its more practical... but its far, and I mean far less intimidating than the suit in Batman begins! In BB he seems terrifying, and thats what Batman is meant to be, people sould be scared shitless and believe he is a super natural creaure! In DK (dont get me wrong, its a great movie!) He clearly and visualy is a martial arts specialist with high-tech weaponry in an high-tech suit!
Begins all the way. The voice, the suit, the story, it was all original stuff in it's final form. TDK. I loved it at first but once all the hype had worn off, problems showed up. Fear, theatricality, intimidation, mystery. It was all lost on the focus of a detective story. Batman, despite having the ability to take on 20 armed henchmen in BB, having trouble with 2 thugs in the middle of a party in TDK. If I wanted to watch Heat, I'd watch Heat.
@TheSteelStallion TDK is actually better than BB.. Story, action, fight scenes, performance, TDK outshined BB.. BB built a great origin story but it lacks from having a consistent villain, everytime it shifts from Ra's Al Ghul to Scarecrow and then Ra's Al Ghul again.. And I would have very much preferred to see Scarecrow more because he was definately a more interesting villain..
@TheSteelStallion TDK on the other hand has almost all the elements of the perfect Batman movie.. Its got the dark chaotic theme which is central to many Batman stories, its got the sheer complexity that reminds us of Batman: The Long Halloween, its also got The Joker as the main villain portrayed brilliantly by Heath Ledger..
Begins was a great movie, but it loses points for its lack of a consistent villain, and the wrong choice of villains
@Mordor6121512 That's where our opinions differ I guess. A lot of people liked it, I and quite a few others on the other hand thought TDK was overrated. Not every movie needs to focus on one villain. Each villain in BB had a role to play in my eyes and in TDK, every person and set piece felt too centred around the Joker which made fleshing their characters out a no go.
Each movie has it's strong points and weak points, just a matter of opinion which people think is actually better.
@TheSteelStallion IMO The Dark Knight was comic book perfection.. If you notice most superhero movies tend to focus on the villains.. And yeah when it comes to superhero movies, they need to focus on one villain: You saw how Spider-Man 3 suffered, it kept shuffling between Sandman, Venom and New Goblin.. Too many villains results in a bad movie.. Luckily BB played great on Batman's origin story that saved it from having the reputation before Spidey 3
I liked the voice better in Begins... Bale seemed to miss the mark just a little in TDK. I like the suit better in TDK because of the sonar eyes (looks more like comic book eyes) and because you could actually do the things Batman does in the TDK suit... not true of ANY of the prior movie suits.
@smellypoti Well in that case The Dark Knight suit wins. But in the scene where he's talking to Dent and Gordon his mask looks like it is a facial shell and looks awkward if you know what I mean
Batman begins showed more of Bruce Wayne. Dark Knight showed more of Gotham City. Batman begins made Batman more of the hero we grew up with. Dark Knight made him like some special ops police officer who hunts criminals. Also in Batman begins, Gotham City looked more like an actual metropolis in disaster, but in Dark Knight, Gotham City looked like any other downtown (mainly Chicago since that was where it was filmed)
I like the suit from Begins way better than the one in Dark Knight. The one in Dark Knight is too mechanical looking. Too much like armor in multiple pieces rather than one threatening creature looking suit.
I think both movies were incredible but i think what Batman Begins didn't have, TDK did. And the things that TDK missed, Batman Begins had. Thats why I think TDKR's is ganna be the one to merry the best of both movies!
The Batman Begins suit is better because it shows more of the mouth area. The Dark Knight suit has the nose part too far down and too near to Bale's upper lip. Bale's voice was better in Batman Begins because it was not over done. The fight scenes were clearer and less cut in The Dark Knight. In Batman Begins, they keep changing angles every second of the fight scenes, making them hard to watch. A good fight scene is one that shows all the movements clearly and where the hits landed.
I have to admit I hated the change of costume, the first one is far better in my opinion :P On a closer look, the Dark Knight suit (the mask particularly) looks ridiculous!

But in the dark knight, now nobody is afraid of bats... yes, bb was epic with ras al goul ... the secend one too, ant the third, no doubt on it. i miss just the fear as weapon. it was so realistic, a real ninja. i hope bats will reminds what ras al goul teached him for the next movie. there both horrible the Dark Knight batman is to bulky he doesn't look swift and stealthy it looks like you would hear him coming from a mile away and he has a big nose, and with Batman Begins its to thin I looks like an anorexic batman.

@kacapar Batman Begins is the best Batman movie. Batman returns is a good movie but is nothing like the comics. Batman stuck a grenade down someone's pants and then threw him in a well and killed him, batman doesn't kill.
EdwardNygma1 1 month ago
@EdwardNygma1 Where was Batman Begins close to near perfect? It had a great origin story, but lacked a proper villain.. TDK had Batman themes: Ever heard of Escalation? That's a constant theme in Batman: The Long Halloween.. Madness and Chaos? That's a constant theme in a typical Joker story.. The only thing where TDK loses points was that the city was not all that Gotham-esque.. And BB falls majorly because they fucked up Scarecrow who was more cooler and interesting than Ra's Al Ghul
Mordor6121512 1 month ago
@Mordor6121512 How did it lack a proper villain? It had Ra's Al Ghul as the main villain, with Scarecrow as a pawn. The Dark Knight only had themes of chaos really...that's it. The Dark Knight loses points because it fucked up Gotham, fucked up Batman's suit, fucked up Rachel, fucked up Two-Face and killed him off, had no BatCave, and most of all, fucked up the themes of Batman! It didn't feel like a Batman movie!
EdwardNygma1 1 month ago
@EdwardNygma1 Batman Begins did not suffer from what Spidey 3 did, but it would have had it not been an origin story for Batman.. The villains kept shifting from Ra's Al Ghul to Carmine Falcone to Scarecrow and back to Ra's Al Ghul.. I think Scarecrow should have been the only main villain.. And TDK did well on the themes of Batman: It was dark, chaotic (Joker) and had themes of Escalation just like in The Long Halloween.. I don't need to repeat myself, so please stop being ignorant..
Mordor6121512 1 month ago
@Mordor6121512 No, it really wouldn't have. It didn't keep shifting around every 5 seconds. It was a system. Falcone was working for Scarecrow, and Scarecrow was working for Ras. It was a cool reveal for the first time watching, and just a cool system overall. Scarecrow being the only villain would have eliminated the epic origin story and climax...
EdwardNygma1 1 month ago
@EdwardNygma1 Scarecrow being the only villain would have made the movie more better.. And who said Chaos does not make work well on a Batman story? Joker unleashes chaos.. And if you didn't like The Long Halloween, well its your opinion.. Now I can see where your distaste for The Dark Knight comes from.. To me, both BB and TDK delivered well on being Batman movies, more so than the old ones. I think Nolan did a better job in being more closer to the comics than Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher..
Mordor6121512 1 month ago
@Mordor6121512 No, it really wouldn't have.
EdwardNygma1 1 month ago
@Mordor6121512 Chaos is an element in in Batman stories, but that's not what it's all about. It shouldn't be shoved in your face. The Long Halloween fucked with canon and gave bad character portrayals. My distaste for The Dark Knight comes from it not getting the themes of Batman across clearly. I don't know how many times I have to tell you that. TDK is better than the older movies but it's not a good Batman movie.
EdwardNygma1 1 month ago
@EdwardNygma1 Like I said, your opinion.. You have a distaste for the source of TDK's inspiration, I wouldn't be surprised that you dislike the movie also.. Millions of Batman fans agree Nolan succeeded in making both his Batman films more closer to the comics than Burton or Schumacher
Mordor6121512 1 month ago
@Mordor6121512 Not my opinion at all, just facts. No, that is a generalization. If you asked someone who knows the Batman stories, they would tell you that Nolan's movies are highly inaccurate and something he created himself most of the time or took from graphics novels.
EdwardNygma1 1 month ago
@EdwardNygma1 You mean its a fact that The Dark Knight sucked? Look bro, 99% of the world loved TDK more than BB, that's a fact.. Your distaste for TDK is just your taste.. Comic book adaptions are not meant to be note for note adaptions, the comics are just a source of reference for the filmmakers..
Mordor6121512 1 month ago
@Mordor6121512 No, it's a fact that it sucked as a Batman movie. As a regular film it's not bad. 99% is not an accurate percent, that is just you and your generalizing. My distate for The Dark Knight is my good taste. lol. In the case of Batman, you are right about it not needing to be note for note, cause otherwise we would have Spandex. But Nolan crossed too many lines, fucked with too many characters, got rid of themes in TDK...
EdwardNygma1 1 month ago
@EdwardNygma1 There have been many batman writers and artists over the years and there will be many more to come, each telling their own story of the caped crusader. So there is no such thing as 100% accurate batman. Nolan is merely adding his own version to the grand mythos, in a way its his own story and interpretation of the character. Why would I pay to watch a movie that is an exact retelling of another persons interpretation of TDK? That would be very redundant...
Miloazn 1 month ago
@EdwardNygma1 I'm telling you for the seventh time he didn't get rid of the themes.. I can see themes of Escalation and Chaos.. And if anybody is crossing a line its you.. Sure it may not be as accurate as BB as you claim.. But its not 99% inaccurate, its not as innacurate as the Shumacher.. You just want to see a Batman movie which is 100% accurate note for note.. Hell even the many writers of the comics retold the characters in their own way, I shouldn't see why Nolan shouldn't do it
Mordor6121512 1 month ago
@EdwardNygma1 Tell me which other character did Nolan fuck up besides Two-Face? He basically retold Two-Face's story his own way (though I admit wasn't all that great).. Rachel was an original creation, his and Ledger's interpretation of the Joker is one of the best ever..
Mordor6121512 1 month ago
@Mordor6121512 Ledger's *characterization* of Joker was awesome. Nolan's writing and reinterpretation of the Joker and his storyline, even to the point of making his clown face makeup, was unnecessary and bogus. I have no problem with taking artistic license on a storyline... until you diverge SO far from the source material that you might as well write your own story with new characters with names of your own creation.
todmeister 1 month ago
@todmeister You have no idea.Nolan took the ORIGINAL Joker from his first appearances and based the storyline off some of his acts.If you don't believe me look up Batman #1 comic. The Joker removes his make-up to disguise himself as a police officer to kill someone he threatened to kill, announces his crimes before commiting them, turns a mobsters plan into killing him into a backfire, and plants a bomb in a jail to escape the prison. All of which he did for unleashing chaos and terror just like TDK.
ImmaTwoFace 1 month ago
@todmeister I don't think Nolan diverged from the story at all.. He borrowed many elements of the Joker's acts from the Batman #1 comic, like Joker robbing and double-crossing criminals, and then announcing his murders etc.. Hell he even borrowed alot from the Joker in "The Killing Joke" where Joker wants to unleash madness.. Nolan's did an amazing job in interpreting the Joker.. It was basically Batman #1 retold in "The Long Halloween" style of storytelling
Mordor6121512 1 month ago 2
@Mordor6121512 he also borrowed another thing from the killing joke which is the joker remembers his past differently
biggeridiotthanu 1 month ago
@biggeridiotthanu Well, not necessarily that he remembers it differently. In TDK I think it's pretty clear that he simply makes up his past every time he tells a 'scar story'. Nolan wanted the Joker to be an entity rather than a real person; much like how Batman is a symbol for justice, Joker is the symbol for chaos.
OmegaOwA 1 month ago
@Mordor6121512 Burton, Schumacher, and Nolan all failed in being comic book accurate. The difference is that Nolan succeeded in Batman Begins. He failed in TDK though and will fail on par with the old movies in The Dark Knight Rises.
EdwardNygma1 1 month ago
@Mordor6121512 And no, The Dark Knight did not deliver well on being a Batman movie. You need to accept that. Chaos does not make a Batman movie. The Long Halloween is bad reference for a Batman movie! I'm not being ignorant, you are the one who is in denial of the facts.
EdwardNygma1 1 month ago
@EdwardNygma1 TDK had many elements of a perfect Batman movie with its dark undertones, its complex story which reminds me of The Long Halloween, and of course The Joker as the main villain.. BB would have suffered the Spider-Man 3 syndrome had it not been for its origin story.
Mordor6121512 1 month ago
@Mordor6121512 I realise you put "IMO" there but you're starting to sound like you're just making everyone else seem wrong or something. Praise for the TDK yet nothing but bad points for the first. You keep on loving TDK, we'll keep on loving Begins. That's the beauty of film, it's subjective. Even the most terrible of movies can be great to some and seeing as, to me, Begins was the perfect Bat movie, TDK will remain Bat Heat, no matter how many times comments about themes are thrown about.
TheSteelStallion 1 month ago
@Mordor6121512 The Dark Knight didn't really have a complex story. And Batman Begins suffering from Spider-Man 3 Syndrome, that's a bunch of bullshit.
EdwardNygma1 1 month ago
@EdwardNygma1 "we'll keep on loving Begins"? You're probably the only one here since most fans of Begins would also say TDK is a better movie.. And TDK is considered superior worldwide.. TDK only fucked up Gotham, and no BatCave.. I did not really care about Two-Face as a villain because well, it was all about Joker.. But it played well in the themes of Batman.. You of all people would have to know how many themes and elements would be adapted from The Long Halloween, and The Killing Joke..
Mordor6121512 1 month ago
@Mordor6121512 Begins placed more emphasis on Bruce Wayne and Batman as the main character(s). It also showed the similarities between Ra's and Batman in terms of their goal, with their differences being the means to achieve said goal. Personally, I can't decide between the two, but belittling Begins isn't helping your case.
ginganinja714 1 month ago
@Mordor6121512 Just because more people agree with you doesn't mean your opinion is an undeniable fact. You need to stop being ignorant yourself before claiming others to be. Like I said, movies are subjective. Stop letting your own opinion get the better of you. Fact is each Batman movie is perfect, great, crap, okay, mediocre, boring, exciting, etc, to many people. Right now, you're trying to argue someone else's opinion is wrong. Quite frankly a pointless thing to do and a waste of time.
TheSteelStallion 1 month ago
@Mordor6121512 I think you're mixing up my comments with TheSteelStallion...way to go. You should care about Two-Face though, he could be a good villain if done correctly.

The90slim90 1 month ago
I liked Batman more in Batman Begins, now which movie is better, I would still give the edge to The Dark Knight, even though it's close, TDK had better fight scenes, more action, way more going on, more struggle with Batman, and of course, Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker. But it felt like it was a bit cluttered with all the action crammed into a movie, and Batman Begins was simpler and not so crazy and fast-paced, plus his voice was better as Batman and it was awesome to see his origin.

Batman Begins looks cooler but I prefer TDK suit not because of the look but because of the function here's 2: he can now actually turn his neck and when he gets caught by some crook choking him with a pole he can just shoot hi in the face with those things on his gaunclets
3271westy 2 months ago
The batman begins one has a really big neck, which obviously we all know that Christian doesn't have that big of a neck. Mouth is good. The Dark Knight one, the neck to me is a bit to enclosed on his neck, but that would probably help with it's movement. And the mouth is to also pretty enclosed....that's probably how he got fucking throat cancer too. But this was my opinion, I like them both. I'm just kinda on the fence on this one.

AJELOR 2 months ago
Begins all the way. The voice, the suit, the story, it was all original stuff in it's final form. TDK. I loved it at first but once all the hype had worn off, problems showed up. Fear, theatricality, intimidation, mystery. It was all lost on the focus of a detective story. Batman, despite having the ability to take on 20 armed henchmen in BB, having trouble with 2 thugs in the middle of a party in TDK. If I wanted to watch Heat, I'd watch Heat.
BB > TDK
Sadly I can see TDKR following suit.. :/
TheSteelStallion 2 months ago
@TheSteelStallion TDK is actually better than BB.. Story, action, fight scenes, performance, TDK outshined BB.. BB built a great origin story but it lacks from having a consistent villain, everytime it shifts from Ra's Al Ghul to Scarecrow and then Ra's Al Ghul again.. And I would have very much preferred to see Scarecrow more because he was definately a more interesting villain..
Mordor6121512 2 months ago
@TheSteelStallion TDK on the other hand has almost all the elements of the perfect Batman movie.. Its got the dark chaotic theme which is central to many Batman stories, its got the sheer complexity that reminds us of Batman: The Long Halloween, its also got The Joker as the main villain portrayed brilliantly by Heath Ledger..
Begins was a great movie, but it loses points for its lack of a consistent villain, and the wrong choice of villains
Mordor6121512 2 months ago
@Mordor6121512 That's where our opinions differ I guess. A lot of people liked it, I and quite a few others on the other hand thought TDK was overrated. Not every movie needs to focus on one villain. Each villain in BB had a role to play in my eyes and in TDK, every person and set piece felt too centred around the Joker which made fleshing their characters out a no go.
Each movie has it's strong points and weak points, just a matter of opinion which people think is actually better.
TheSteelStallion 2 months ago
@TheSteelStallion IMO The Dark Knight was comic book perfection.. If you notice most superhero movies tend to focus on the villains.. And yeah when it comes to superhero movies, they need to focus on one villain: You saw how Spider-Man 3 suffered, it kept shuffling between Sandman, Venom and New Goblin.. Too many villains results in a bad movie.. Luckily BB played great on Batman's origin story that saved it from having the reputation before Spidey 3
