  • Nice! Its 2003 but it looks 1960s. Super 8 is cool.

  • that beautiful kodachrome red!

  • I was wondering, how did you get this on the computer?

  • @Bighairyballz The super 8 film was scanned via flashscan direct to HDD.

  • this is beautiful. im a analogue photographer getting my first super 8 soon. this is perfect. i what i wanted ot ask though was how many roles did u shoot to get the final thing? i think im under the illusion that im gonna take one maybe two rolls on a weekend holiday and get nice 3 minute clip edited at the end of it! i have a feeling your gonna tell me thats not the case!

  • @DJarkham Many thanks for your nice comment. The clip is edited mainly to fit the music track length from an original 10min holiday short. I seem to remember x6 rolls shot in total = x4 K40 & x2 Tri-x (b&w) & only the best scenes used here:) Best of luck shooting your holiday!

  • really nice! did you use a b&w film for those bits or did you change that in premiere?

  • Many thanks! Kodachrome K40 film - which is now sadly no more...:( Other film stock used here: Kodak Tri-x (B&W).

  • Wonderful atmosphere!

  • This is simply amazing!

  • Beautiful

  • Spetacular!

  • Classically Beautifull.

  • Nothing touches your heart the way a super 8 can.. This is truly beautiful.. i felt alive the whole time.. thank you

  • i just ordered my super 8 cam, does all super 8 film cartidges fit all cameras?

  • Great shots, super 8 is beautiful!

  • these are really great quality images almost unrecognizable as 8mm in sections!

  • Wow. What a work of art. Can you still get super 8? I was doing standard 8mm for a while and processing it myself. Came out with some beautiful footage of my kids. I left that hobby, though. Wife got made at all the time I was dedicating on it. LOL

  • Ektachrome 64T is still being produced by Kodak.

  • Wonderful ! RIP Kodachrome K40

  • This is brilliant and all, but did you edit it digitally?

  • Thank you! All footage edited using Adobe Premiere Pro software

  • how did you capture the images from super 8?

  • This video is fantastic, good music and good recaptures!

  • I'm sorry, but as good as HD, and DV, and all the new technologies are , NOTHING will ever beat Super 8 Film. The look, speed, quality, it's all just great!!

  • Yeah but Super 8 films are expensive. Developing makes them even more expensive.

  • @mcgovernmatt

The unique quality has never been produced digitally very good imo.

  • what is the music? Sibelius?

  • The music is part of the soundtrak from the Werner Herzog movie "Nosferatu the vampire"

    Music by Popul woo.

  • The music is Das Rheingold by Richard Wagner

  • This is so cool! I want a super 8mm camera sooo bad! (That and a Speed Graphic 4x5!) Digital be damned, for me it's film all the way

  • soooo nice !

    moremoremore

  • Brilliant, really lovely! I think I've just been inspired to buy a....

    ;)

  • Thank you fo sharing your beautiful journey. So sad that this film is gone.

  • That came together perfectly. It's lovely!

  • how many minutes does a 50ft film last?

  • A single super 8 film roll at 24fps = 2.5mins or 18fps = 3.3mins (approx.). Regards.

  • Just lovely. Warm and lovely.

  • I don't see a reason to shoot a vacation any other way. I wish I could afford to use my super 8 more

  • Thanks for sharing this. I didn't realize that people were still shooting Super 8 and it brought back wonderful memories for me. I also liked your choice of music.

  • beautiful!

  • hey thats a great video, so what was the process used to get it into digital format for computer

  • Many thanks for your comment! The processed super 8 K40 film was telecined via a Rank Cintel Mk III TK machine/unit to DigiBeta and MiniDV tape formats for digitizing into a PC for editing. Good luck with your filmmaking!

  • was ist das für eine melodie?

  • hallo, mit was für einer kamera wurde der film gefilmt?

  • es steht in der videobeschreibung...

  • Beautiful colors, Beautiful shots.

    Try doing THAT with digital.

  • ahhh i love the super 8 look

  • beautiful video! which song is that?

  • it's GREAT!

this summer (4-7 july) I've visited Rome as well, with my kodak instamatic m4 - super 8 camera. The film isn't digitalised yet, but it looks quite similar :) the film I made has been shot on a kodak plus-x 7276. as well out of production :(

  • magnificant!

  • Super 8 and Italy work well together. Nice job. R.I.P. Kodachrome, how we miss thee.

  • Fantastic footage!!

It really is a shame that Kodachrome won't be produced again. It's always been my favorite.

  • Nice video. Thank you for posting this, brought back some good memories of the places I've seen about 5 yrs ago. I think Italy's one of the coolest places in europe at the moment, and you seem to have captured that here.

  • Wat kind of Camera did u use?

  • Excelente, gostei muito dessa forma de mostrar um fim de semana diferente, elevando à filmagem uma categoria profissional. Particulamente falando também gosto muito do SUPER-8.

  • too bad youtube quality sucks the way it does

  • 3it;s great but weird woohoo

  • this was great! I was just in Rome for a day and it's amazing how different it can look on film

  • and now paul simon will have to create another song called "ektachrome"

  • Awesome.

  • why, oh why did kodak dump the greatest filmstock on the planet, wonderful vid, the reds are to die for, thanx for sharing.

  • Because the proccesing of the stock was very polluting for the atmosphere. Yup, no joke.

  • I love kodachrome...
