  • This was the flip side of their hit single, Day After Day

  • What a great song!

  • they should play this on usa radio

  • Yes I agree... Stan Polley should have been ripped off and all the money given to Pete Ham and Badfinger.......Dave

  • This song seems like someone put their soul into it...

  • Beautiful.

Beatles 2.0 as I think of them..

  • I liked acoustic lines.

  • hermosa canción!

  • beautiful melody brought out by the nice bongo beat...sense a little of the Beatles influence in this song, like Rocky Raccoon or Blackbird...

  • When George Harrison helped produce this band he should have joined them and replaced Molland. Harrison would have kept the band from getting screwed and given them better guitar leads and given them more songs... Oh well, just my thoughts...

  • I hear the song and I feel a great sadness remembering the tragic end of two of its members. Beautiful song and nicely played by Joey.

  • Great Guys, Great Songs. Thank you Badfinger!!

  • This is epic! How could this not have been a hit! How did I miss this back in the day? That's also tragic.....:>(

  • So beautiful. Proves Joey's songwriting was top notch, much under rated

  • joey looks a bit like paul mccartney

  • Wow, these camera angles hardly get around to Pete at all.

  • @greatsajby yes, you get a close up of joey playing guitar when it's pete actually doing the wonderful solo.

  • lindo mesmo.

  • Straight up was one of THE great albums

    Such a tragedy what happened.

    Proper musicians and songwriters.

  • Linda!!!!

  • i've seen the breaking of the souvenirs...

  • I always liked Badfinger, always loved this album, and always loved this song. This is the first time I see them play it live and their singing and playing is flawless. This brings a lot of memories.

  • Haunting and sad melody. Great acoustic guitaring.

  • I never heard this one by them..wasn;t a hit but this is a great song!

  • the prototype for alternative rock and grunge baby

  • @carancal and not forgetting Power Pop, either.

  • Still one of my favorite groups from the late 60s/early70s and their Straight Up album is one of the best ever put out by anyone.

It's tragic that they were screwed by bad management. Pete Ham was a great musical talent who died much too soon...oh, what we all missed out in.

  • Love Badfinger, dislike Joey tho! RIP Pete Tom and Mike x

  • Just .....BADFINGER!

  • nice picking, and cool to hear joey singing. such talented guys, tommy could play anything you handed the guy !!

  • Brilliant material came from Apple Records and their studios. Cursed, I think not, no more than any other inovative record studio around the world that had the best writers & musicians who did share problems of the day. I wish today's writers and artists had at least half the talent of these guys. As for looking or sounding "girly", they definitely had the 70s hair style & charisma, and as I, along with millions of others around the world enjoyed Badfinger & others, girly voices they were not!

  • Stan Polley is a complete fucking shyster. A piece of crap!!

  • Awesome post. Only thing I differ with is "Joey Molland's best tune from Straight Up". Everyone on the planet who likes rock n' roll music should do themselves a favor and listen to "Sometimes" as soon as possible. It doesn't get ANY better than that song, anywhere, by anyone.

  • @greatsajby

Thanks for the tip. I have the Straight Up album on vinyl but have not listened to it in years. I agree "Sometimes" is a great tune. The Badfinger things I have seen on youtube have been quite awesome. Their talent is deep, a very, very talented group.

  • First time seeing this. Thank you.

  • Brilliant band. They had an albatross-like "new Beatles" tag that must have weighed heavy on them though.

  • First time I hear this one and I love it. Great acoustic work this is why I love acoustic songs. Badfinger are one the best bands in rock without a doubt. god bless them

  • @fairyfellermaster I agree. I get really tired of people tagging. Dylanesque or Beatle-esque. If the song is good l- let it just be good

  • Badfinger's album "Straight Up" was, and still is a, brilliant piece of work. This song is just one of the gems on it.

  • one of my first 45"s day after day and my favourite song sweet tuesday morning on the b side,,,class...

  • THANK YOU!

  • Nice song. Was Paul McCartney Joey's singing / vocals coach?

  • As well as Pete & Tommy, Joey could also write great songs!

  • one of my all time favorite songs.

  • what a tune,were was this one hiding.pure melody .

  • ty rafer...

  • morning my love-r. x x x

  • great !!!

  • Polley was still ripping people off in the '90s... sounds like a real money-grubbing little nebbish.

  • What a deep song, today's music is an embarrassment compared to the music of this time period.

  • one of my favourites....and that's considering the beatles, stones, the who. the kinks...

  • Happy Birthday Joey.

  • FUCK STAN POLLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gran cancion!

  • You won't see anything as great as this performed on american idol by any of the contestants, they don't have the talent.

  • when i first met my hubby at age 17 he looke dso much like him it blew me away !!!

  • This isn't gay!

People are jealous that they can't write stuff like this, simple but catching!

  • @ItsRoozz Actually its not simple, like you said "stuff like this " a very well written song something a John Lennon would do. Great Song !!

  • The lighting reflections at 2:11 remind me of the lines on the English flag. Kind of apprapo for this group I think. :-)

  • It's really amazing to see all of three (of course Mike is a drummer) palying acoustic guitar!! Great !!!

  • @59simonh hey! your comment needn't have the yank thing at the end. wtf what does being american have to do with not knowing notes. take er' easy mary. I LOVE BADFINGER i know nothing about making music, i just know this is my favorite band ever. go on and argue about your B FLATS. what does cutting a loaf mean anyhoo?

  • I've seen Joey's Badfinger a couple times and yes its the closest thing to Badfinger you are gonna see today....I think he gets too much bad flak about destroying Pete and Tom though...True he made power plays to take band away from Pete and he had legal battles over Tom's deserved royalties but this stuff happens in R&R bands all the time. Bottom Line Pete and Tom were 2 massively talented tragic victims of the R&R business and it probably would have happened with or without Joey

  • "the closest thing to Badfinger you are gonna see today."

Well, since the other three are passed away now, yeah. Joeys a cool guy - he does get too much shit. Like Yoko, or something.

  • well... "pretty good|" is better than robharding useless!.You coud'nt cut a loaf!!!.....oh btw ifdick...where's the B flat?

the descending notes make the tune! These two posters are typical BAD badfinger "fans", they dont play they dont listen...they just mouth off...10 bucks says they're Yanks.....

  • @59simonh Just because someone doesn't play music, it doesn't mean they can't be a fan of music or good music for that matter. Also, being American or not being American has absolutely nothing to do with musical knowledge. Take a listen to modern country guitarist Brad Paisley. He's American and he's very knowledgable of music theory, etc. Of course, so is England's Albert Lee.

  • Dm, G, C, F

    Great progression.

  • as a musician joey was pretty good, but as a trusted member of the band, sorry he just does not cut it, he had his own agenda, pete ham and tom evans were the heart of the band, end of story,

  • Rob, I've seen your name on other Badfingers uploads, keep up the good work. I'm curious, what is your basis for your summation of Joey. I n my opinion Pete Ham is #1, but the other members are great too. The two best live songs on youtube from this band in my opinion are "Suitcase (the 7:58 version) and this song "Sweet Tuesday Morning". I'm just unfamilar with the dynamics between the members and hope you can fill me in with references to books, etc. Thanks.

  • Men had such beautiful hair in the 70's

  • The song is a very good taste of what Joey brought to Badfinger. There's often a lot of talk about Pete and Tom, and understandably so, but pieces like this show how valuable Joey was in the visions of greatness that came out of this band. A beautifully crafted song.

  • what's gay about it? few songs are romantic like this without being sappy. it's almost eerily beautiful and somewhat melancholy. they don't write them like this anymore. the acoustic guitars are exquisite

  • Most definitely. I grew up listening to Badfinger, and even as a young child, not yet able to even attempt to decipher meanings from poetic verses, I could FEEL the emotions and meanings of the songs. Badfinger is a rare band where every member seemed to have the ability to connect on such a level.

  • @MsSpider26 It is what it is .People are stupid when they make comments and they don`t know there talking about.Thumbs up.

  • @MsSpider26

    Well said MsSpider26!

  • this is really cool....but a bit gay...thank god for exile on main street :D

  • was this after Ham's death?

  • @NLF FILMS how can it be after Pete Ham's death when he is in the video at the begining and at the end!!

  • thank god we still have joe!! i am good friends with him and he is a verry cool guy!!hey joe how did you like southern culture on the skids? lol..

  • @TheHughjorgann. If you are good friends with him, please apologise for me as I joked about him marrying me when he was over here at The Burswood, Perth, Oz! I feel bad about that as I didn't know then his wife had died, & so recently. Probably I was one of many, but I wish I'd buttoned my lip! Great show Joey & Terry!

  • This is beautiful and the version on their LP record is even better and somewhat haunting. That version has accordian in it and what sounds like a mandolin.

  • What is this video from? id love to see the whole set. Suitcase and better days are also from this footage. great live versions. best ive seen have been this particular performance,

  • You know what I think, musicians are people who feel alot of emotins and show it in their music. Life is so emotional. They are sensitive people. Me too. Life is so hard when you can't cope with your emotions well.

  • such a sweet song!

  • Damn you for dying, Pete Ham.

  • Great, under-appreciated band; evokes a lot of good memories.

  • One of the great bands to come out of this era.. suxh huge talent.. such short time... they had such a great influence on me.. I've been playing since I saw them soooo long ago.... God speed all of them.

  • Hard to believe the singer, in this one video is the only surviving member. I recall 2 committed suicide, Pete Ham in 75, and Tom Evans, in 83 I believe it was, and both by hanging. The third member was most recent a few years ago. What a great group that was swindled from their profits, for providing all this hard work.

  • I agree RainySunday what a mess..

  • Why do many musical talents have to be tormented.

  • where did this video come from thanks alot for it. I'm always looking for more badfinger vids. This is awsom!!!

  • solitudeseeker, you echo my sentiments to a tee,

  • Badfinger was the most underrated band in history. The loss of Pete, Tommy and Mike is tragic

  • Came upon this recently and can`t stop listening to it.Nostalgic memories from liverpool.....simple chord sequences ,beautifully arranged..Joey`s got a piece of my heart and vote.

  • I new not a very long time agoo Badfinger ( frome Beatles Come and get it =D) ... well I like them very much^^

  • Everytime I listen to Badfinger it stirs so many emotions. Sign of a truly great artist.

  • Beautiful...I'm in awe of them... Thank you for posting!

  • ...RIGHT behind ya pal!

  • i feel like kickin back in a rockin chair, with jd in hand and closin my eyes and just driftin of to a sublime place with the aid of this beautiful song.. .. :) who wants to join me? ;)

  • Cheers for posting 5/5 class song great video!!!

  • Thankyou for posting 5*****

  • lovey song writen by joey

  • First time I heard this song I nearly wore out that 8-track tape version of Straight Up.That was 1972. Website "Badfinger to the Hall of Fame" vote them in.

  • this is f....n great song..the first time i heard this song way back late 60's, i thought it was the beatles with paul on solo..classic..!!can match beatles blackbirdk, here comes the sun and norwegian wood...

  • Oh I agree! Definite Hall of Fame. It is never too late.

  • Just plain Raw and Clean. Go Badfinger!

  • That was the B side of "Day After Day" in 1972. Such a beautiful folk ballad.

  • Oh hell yeah man ! I had it ,but some motherfucker stole it.

  • These guys should really be in the rock and roll hall of fame.

  • Why? Don't get me wrong,I dig them Big Time! But lets be honest, they're sound/style was "HIGHLY" Derivative. So "Originality" is stricken from their attributes...What's next?? Good tunes? Sure! But enough "Classic" Ones to qualify them for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame..???

  • Brandojack1369: Why not? Honestly, Madonna's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and she isn't even rock! Badfinger is perhaps one of the most deserving eligible artists out there.

"Day After Day," "No Matter What" and "Baby Blue" were all hits for Badfinger. In all honesty, all the members of Badfinger were much better than the Rolling Stones ever were and aren't the Rolling Stones inductees?

Plus, without Badfinger, Harry Nilsson and Mariah Carey never would have recorded "Without You."

  • Forget the R'N'R hall. Bowie won't participate because it goes against what rock is all about, rebellion. Alice Cooper isn't in but James Taylor is. That should say it all.

  • good point..i think when stars leave their handprint in the ground they leave a little bit of their soul behind.

  • Sadly I think the RNR is nothing but a pop contest. It's not about how good someone was or what they contributed to music as art. It's about who sold the most, who had the most artifices spread about, and of course, industry politics. I've visited the RNR, and while some of the displays of writings and colections from certain artists were interesting, the 'hall of fame' seems childish to me. Someday they will induct Greenday and Avril Lavine. Mark my word.

  • IT SURELY SOUNDS VERY ACTUAL

    great song

  • Sincere, heartfilled, and real, and not Fall Out Boy. :)

Great music, very few artists today compare.

  • One of Joey's most beautiful songs.

  • I think that if Apple records wasn't in such a shambles at that time, Badfinger would have had a different, more positive outcome.

  • @Spada56 Badfinger's problems were not because of Apple, but Capitol Records, specifically Stan Polley.

  • What a wonderful song, and sung wonderfully. Damn, I just love Badfinger music.

  • Listening to this song makes me want to learn the guitar.Very moving.

  • geniuses man.

sounds like dylan in a way.

  • what an amazing song... joey is a genious!!

  • only recently since I discovered badfinger, masters of their craft...

  • I've just discovered that I like most of their songs too, what an amazing group!!

  • Ahh, a day when musicians were talented and could craft a song without the label investing in special effects!

  • This folkloric simplicity with professional performance reminds me on those good old medieval poems, songs, lyrics, it's just amazing!

Makes me feel pure and innonncent.

  • Great song indeed

  • This song is absolutely brilliant just like Joey Molland.

  • Its so sad they ended the way they did

We could use a band like this now

  • Baladas para inspirar a un ser humano con mente, excelente grupo lastima que desaparecio como lo conociamos en finales de los sesentas, por el destino.

  • A beautiful ballad and incredible music from an underappreciated band. I love all of Badfinger's music.

  • Comment removed

  • sierraluz, so do i some outfit these guys were,,

  • its true

  • Every one of their songs are so magnificent.

  • I've always been in awe of this group. It's great to be able to see these old films.

  • Badfinger are simply, one of the best bands of all time!

    I have every album.

Great songwriting, great musicianship, great singers. What more could you ask for?

    Love them! :)

  • lucky english guys for your music, we french got the food... and johnny halliday! bouh...

  • Badfinger, as a group, deserves all of the great comments that it recieves. When you watch them perform on You Tube, you are only getting part of the picture. I saw them twice many moons ago and they were unbelievable. A truly gifted group of young men. My heart was broke when Pete died. Then, Tommy. So sad. I am glad that, through You Tube, their music lives on. They are gaining new fans. Pete, Tom, Joey and Mike are finally getting the recognition they deserve. All is well!

  • I've become a Badfinger fan, in the last 7 years. You will never find a bad comment about Badfinger. I can't say enough about Badfinger. Their music is far better, than so many artists. F - Todd Rundgren, F - Capitol Records, F- so many that don't appreciate them.

  • I've always liked this tune. The first eight measures bear an unmistakable resemblence to "Rocky Raccoon."

  • Not a bit like rocky raccoon! Great song though!

  • I agree. Read they were well connected with the beatles so influence must have been mutual at times.

  • You notice how bands like Badfinger and songs from this era never get hateful comments?

  • Stunning song by Joey Molland. Beautiful. Pete was and always will be my eternal favourite in the band, but Joey wrote a keeper with this song. All the members were so talented and gifted. They deserved so much better than what they got. I am so glad, however, that their wonderful music lives on.

  • Well said.

  • This is also one of my favourite songs.

My brother bought the single "Day after Day" in Australia in the very early 70s, and I always perferred the 'B' side which was, of course, "Sweet Tuesday Morning"

  • this might be my favorite song.

  • Thank you, one of my favorite songs,

  • The greatest album of my life. I stayed here with Joey in Brazil during 2006 and had a chance to stay on the backstages with him. I think it´s not necessary to say how much strong was this moment....Pictures and assign of my copy of straight up which is one special place in my home....What chemistry this guys had when they played together !!!...Definitely the best.....

  • Lovely song from a great album by a fantastic band.

  • A wonderfull song from Straight Up album ( 1972 ) ! Here in Brazil was B Side of Day after Day single ! I miss that good times ! Thank you !

    Muniz ( bass )

  • Vintage beauty, thanks so much. My admiration for them keeps growing stronger, 30 years after I first started listening to them. Gotta add though, one thing I liked best about Sweet Tuesday Morning, on the LP, is that the awesome Day After Day was coming next!

  • Awesome! I LOVE Badfinger! Thanks for this great post :)

  • Great. Do they do Baby Blue on this?
