Great sound, great feeling, great style. Talented. It's pure heaven to hear someone who knows how to play those great instruments (synths are not only "cut-off and reso pots with sequenced bassline" ;) ). Thanks and keep on posting videos!
fantastic! i have a Jupiter 4, have only just used it to muck around on while playing with a grunge band, but since then haven't used it much. i read in the instructions there is a battery component to it, is it possible i have lost data and if so, is it possible to retrieve it.. anywhere i can get information as to how to use this instrument properly? cheers coralart_photographics@yahoo.com.au
@yvettealine Thank you! If the battery is dead you've probably lost whatever patches you had in there. Are you still able to save a patch and recall it while it is still plugged in? If not, this could indicate a more serious problem. Will send you some links to info about the JP-4 via email.
This is simply **fantastic!** Thank you so much for this; the delay was a nice touch. I wish I had a Jupiter 4... hold onto yours! They're pretty cool synths.
I only have a Juno-60, but I do enjoy its unique sound :)
@SexToyRocketLauncher Thank you very much! Yes, Terry Riley is one of my favorite musicians. His recording "Persian Surgery Dervishes" is amazing. It has had a major influence on my playing style and use of analog delay.
man its been a long time since i last checked this video out and seriously ur playing is killer, no joke your video here has been sparking inspiration for me on some material ive been working on i mean this is truly a remarkable piece you did on such a remarkable synth!
wow! excellent!...maybe add vocaloid software lyrics of hatsune miku project diva.....fan based synthpop renaissance movement to save music!...you are a genius...(become the wizard of oz the man behind the curtain hatsune miku is the godzilla you can control and unleash on the world via youtube)...if not you...who can?...if not now ? when?....it is in your genius hands I can't with only $200 flute...yet..
Great stuff. This is what I like. A musician learning his instrument rather than going on about this VCO, that VCA, what filter, which modular next, how does X do this, X is better than Y etc etc..
Learn the instrument you own inside out and treat it like a musician should.
Respect!! It's easy to get a modular or interesting old synth and fiddle around until something half decent comes out of it. This takes commitment and ability.
I know the chords from somewhere, dit you make famous trance-tracks before?
I like all good analog Synths and I have the Promars from Roland, amazing too!!
In my setup there are also the OBXa, ARP Odyssey, Axxe, Micromoog, System100, Paraphonic505, Korg ms20, Korg Sigma, Juno106, D50, Crumar Trilogy, yamaha CS50, P5 and a few I forgot,
I appreciate your comment very much! Some people believe that just because it's a Jupiter-4 I should be making it belch and squeal like everyone else. True, the Jupiter-4 can make awesome noise, but my goal in this solo was to play it like an acoustic instrument. For me, this is what is so special about the Jupiter-4. It's more than just a synth: it's an INSTRUMENT! Thank you for listening... and understanding!
Nothing wrong with that. I'm "just a piano player" myself lol! In fact, I still spend more time playing piano than I do synths. I have to admit though, discovering synths opened up a whole galaxy of sound for me that I could now not imagine living without. So I say, go for it: get yourself a synth. But be forewarned: it's like opening Pandora's box!
very cool little pattern in the middle there...i really ought to just suck it up and learn how to use synths...i'm just a piano player who plays keys and just plays them as a piano...lol
I just went back and listened to this again. Reminds me of early Berlin School a little, probably because the sound is organ-like. Combine with some Mellotron and I think you'd have a classic in the making.

Yeah ,I doupt your comment. But if he does he loves and not kills boys, everyone needs a little love y'know. Nah this is not a pedo man.. He may be gay as in happy though.
Studies have shown that a lot of closeted homosexuals tend to lash out publicly at those around them who aren't afraid to be expressive of their feelings. Makes a lot of sense, because it hurts when you can't express yourself, doesn't it losbrons?
Very organic. Reminds me to the special FX background synth sounds off the Floyds in Pompey. You know, simple sounds though a analog bridged cascade chip echo box. Very uplifting!!!
Nice, very slow and subtle changes to the tone. Too many synth users just blow their load instantly instead of relishing in the subtleties that make these synths sound so organic.
Bravo !! Your hands don't seem to want to part with the piano technique and that's not something to be sorry about . . (should you ?) your hands and arms are addressing an electronic instrument in the same way they do with a piano .. something like a bow/string relation .. and it surly is reflected in the cool timing of your playing.

the first 2 minutes were improvised, yes, up until the point where the "groove" kicks in. from there i had already worked out ahead of time where i wanted to go, but there were still a few "surprises" for me along the way. such is the nature of the jupiter-4. rarely can you be 100% sure what's going to come out of it. thanks for the tip about Ray Lynch. i was unfamiliar with his work. great stuff!

quick english lesson for you:
'your' is an adjective indicating possession. e.g. "your comment reveals profound ignorance"
"you're" is a contraction of "you are." e.g. "you're an uninformed prick, as indicated by your profoundly ignorant comment above."
got it? now go fuck yourself. (please note: one would not say "go fuck you'reself")
