i dowloaded "unrevoked 3" but when i plug in my evo, the program doesnt do anything. it just says "waiting for device" what could be wrong? what am i doing wrong? I followed the instructions. and to top it all off, i can't even remove the unrevoked 3 program off my computer.

For those of you who experienced an error, "is your firmware too new." It's saying you got an update from OTA (Over the air) to upgrade your phone from Froyo to Gingerbread. On top of that, it updates your "hboot." which is a firmware in your phone. There is no ETA when the new unrevoked update will be release for that firmware. Developers are figuring out how to exploit the firmware.

@jeffamorgan1924 your settings need to be changed. Make sure you have no passwords set and no lock screen timer set on the phone either. Set debugging on which can be found in the Menu > Settings > Applications > Development and when you connect you phone to the computer you have it set to CHARGE ONLY this will help. Are you on a Mac or Windows? This too can be another issue

If you get the error message: "internal error: installing package failed" i know why.

ok I finally got it to work after like 30 tries If you have the app Lookout- mobile security, backup your phone with that and then uninstall it. If your phone says low disk space or low memory you will get the error message: internal error: installing package failed. Make sure that you have enough memory then run unrevoked. The 1st time i did it with enough memory it started to work but then i got the error message again but I noticed that google maps had updated the same time i was running

I tried it on my Sprint EVO 4G running Android 2.2. Does what you say until the reboot. It never says it is pushing the reflasher and instead of going to the boot screen it just boots up normally. I tried a couple of times and same result. I then tried to manually reboot to Hboot USB but it never runs the HBoot sequence. Please advice

now that i've tried it again, i will run the program and have my phone plugged in. i click the connection setting and change it to htc sync as you do at 1:32. after searching for quite some time, i get the error message "unnable to find HTC Sync on your PC. please make sure that blah blah blah." I thought we were connecting to unrevoked, not the actial htc sync program...

what am i doing wrong?

yeah after i get past the plug in and connection to the unrevoked tool. im running a mac so there shouldnt be any other programs interfering.

anyway after htc sync, i guess it might connect, but then my phone reboots. it doesnt boot to the screen you talk about using the volume buttons to move around etc.

If you're on EVO 4G, we've seen this happen with some applications from the market that cause incompatibilities; try uninstalling other apps. If you're on Wildfire, then the message is as it suggests; your firmware is in fact too new, and has the vulnerability that we use to get root patched. Sorry.

@juztme24 I was having this same issue, What I did was backed up all my data and apps and did a factory restore of the whole phone and wiped out all data on the device, then before installing any apps or restoring the phone from backup I made, I ran unrevoked and it finally worked :) Developers think it's an issue with some apps that may be the issue, Just backup your phone, root, then re install all your backed up data. :)

You can NOT uninstall HTC sense if you're not rooted. That is what I'm trying to get at. There is NO way to uninstall unless you root your Android. I need to know exactly HOW to do that before running this program.  Shutting it down, and UNINSTALLING are two different things. And the programs WARNS you to UNINSTALL, not shut it off, but to have it UNINSTALLED in order to make sure this program roots properly. Again, I'll say it once more, how do you UNINSTALL HTC sense if you're not rooted?
