  • absolutely fantastic

  • the beginning was great real neat how they do that

  • This is very good... wish I knew how to attempt this!

  • They should have a contest at the BBc to develop a new title sequence. There is a lot of talent out here

  • That is brlliant

  • This is CG correct? What did you make it with?

  • Lightwave 3D.

  • I want that but it's to darn expensive. Ive tried getting the Cracked versions and tested them on a Library PC but the Cracks had Malware so that was a Lucky Escape

  • Nicely done, I like this one. It's hard to imagine how mind-blowing this technique must have seemed to 1968 viewers of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

  • Thanks. It must have been so good to see the 2001 sequence for the first time on a big cinema screen.

  • I didn't see the original, as I would have been negative 7 years old, but I did see the year 2001 re-issue in 70mm. it was spectacular.

  • Ahhh, that would be a problem:-) I'd only have been 3 myself. Managed to see it in the cinema eventually. Sort of wish I'd never seen it on TV and just seen that sequence for the first time on the big screen.

  • This is really cool! I want to make something like this... but I have no idea how... ah well

  • Hey I really love your work here. I've been messing around with after effects for days now trying to get this kind of product and was wondering in if you could let on what program you used and maybe some pointers in a place to find a tutorial.

  • Hi. Glad you like it. The program is called Lightwave 3D. It's a 3D (CGI) modelling and rendering programme. I believe there is a plug-in for After Effects which produces a slit scan effect, I've never used it so don't know how good it is. I don't know of any tutorials, but do a google search on slit scan and there's some sites that explain how the technique is done with a real camera. Also '2001 star gate sequence', gives some sites that explain the time tunnel effect. Cheers.

  • You use Lightwave? Fantastic!!

I've been trying to make a working tunnel for forever--you royally rock.

  • I love your stuff! I was so inspired i got myself a copy of lightwave. is there a tutorial you can point me to on how to do this?

    Well done, brilliant!

  • No tutorial I know of. Made it up myself. Tried to send you a message with info on how to, but it got blocked. (friend lock? or something).

  • let me check, would love to know how to do this. this is cool!

Ill pm my email to you

  • well i think its pretty brilliant!

  • This would make a Great Doctor Who movie openning sequence-enough time for all credits.

  • Hey peggymount, great doctor who old school intro was wondering how you did it? I have for the couple past months been making a doctor who tribute video but with a different name "professor what" as the title. Could I please copy your process of making the classic doctor who intro

  • Sure.

  • where did you get the full theme music from???

  • THAT WAS FU**IN BRILL!

  • It is indeed done using lightwave. It's a really simple scene set up.

  • i luv it! i wish i could make one to muck about with!

  • Thanks for all this Peg (any new sitcoms in the offing?). I was going to something like this with the Pertwee howlaround titles myself but I guess you're going to beat me to it! This vid here is genius (and I don't use that word lightly) getting some of the 2001 A Space Odyssey elements in to the 'mix'. Well done (this is even better than the current series intro).

  • No new sitcoms I'm afraid. 'I'm resting'. Thanks for your comment. I really like your mix of the Baker Pertwee titles. Nicely done. Am working on a David tennant title sequence at the moment and want to use the old diamond logo, but it seems so out of place. And I can't stand the new logo. Oh what to do, what to do.

  • Ah well, give my regards to Pat(Coombs)! Thanks for the comp! I'm fairly new to the digital animation game but stuff like this is a real inspiration. The new series logo does suck but I'll forgive them for now because the show is so good overall. Looking forward to your Tennant versh!

  • WOW!!!!

  • Love that Dr. Who music!

  • It's great isn't it. can't seem to post a link to the site, but if you do a google search for 'doctor who good as gold mix' you'll get a site with a few Dr Who mixes. mediatrax it's called.

  • Nice work, I like this alot! Have you tried using the black and white howlaround titles as a texture?

  • Thanks. Just gave it a bash with the Pertwee howlaround titles. Doesn't look too bad in places. It's interesting as it's a moving video sequence rather than just a static pattern. Will give it a go with Hartnells. The sequence above uses modified stills from Colin Bakers titles. And an Amoeba or two:-)

  • That was cool if weird!

  • Thanks! Weird is a compliment.
