  • That was actually a quite good New England accent. I was expecting a southern accent, which would have been horrible.

  • Is it just me or do you pronounce Atheism as Theism? Am I just not hearing an A?

  • Wait, isn't British a term used to describe EVERYONE living in the United Kingdom? Regardless if they live in England, Scottland, Wales, or Northern Ireland? If so, then technically wouldn't any accent from those countries be considered one type of a British accent?

Anyway, your American accent was good!

  • @NiWiPe36 Absolutely. A Scottish accent is a British, as is a Welsh one. The problem arises when people think that ONLY an English accent is a British accent... that an English accent and a British accent are the same thing.

PS - A Northern Irish accent is not a British accent. Northern Ireland is in the United Kingdom, but not Britain, as Great Britain is the island containing England, Scotland and Wales, and no part of Ireland is part of Great Britain.

  • @LatumWay Yes, most Americans don't know what the difference is between England and Great Britian and the United Kingdom is. (I'm from the US). Don't call me stupid, lol, but actually up until this year I didn't know Scottland was its own country, I though it was like just a region. Most people over here just generally think of the Island of Great Britain as one country instead of three. And many people don't even know that Ireland is divided into two and the small country is part of the UK

  • @LatumWay And I think the reason why more people mean an English accent when they say British is because that is the most exposed, or most commonly heard of accent on TV, for the US at least, and so in turn they think of that one more often.

Oh, and it's REALLY hard for Americans to immitate a Scottish accent, just because of how different it is pronounced from American accents, you know?

  • when i was learning how to skateboard i prayed to land a kickflip also

  • You're accent was pretty good. Still had obvious English undertones though. You sounded like someone who'd lived in the US for several years but was raised in the UK.

  • Your accent is really good. The way you pronounce your rr's is a lot like the New York accent.

  • When I was religous I prayed to the Christian God that my teacher would not be in to take in the homework twice and both times the teacher was not in to take the homework. It could be coincidence but chills man.

  • Your American accent is kind of nasal sounding, but not awful, I think. My English accent...is terrible. :D I have a combination of a Dominican/Texan accent. It's like Spanish with a country twang, lol.

  • The accent was pretty good! But i really don't know why when most Europeans do the American accent they sound so nerdy :P Do we really sound like that?! haha I think not but good try anyway :]

  • your voice switched back a couple times

  • For me, I had been raised in a secular home, but our religious neighbors and growing up in a religious society meant that I had much exposure to it. And of course the ritual and the songs make a good impression, as well as the sense of community. Moreover, not much was talked about in my household, so I had no definitive info either way. As a result, I tended towards real spirituality, read the bible and realized it was bullshit.

  • Pretty Good Accent! It's a little nasally though...

  • Very good American accent!

  • I like the accent man. I'm from the U.S.A so i know how to sound boring.

  • Good American accent!

  • Comment removed

  • As a Californian, I'd say you'd pass that test!

  • It's very good. But non-rhotic, by that I mean it's your "r"s that give away your british accent.

  • Ahhh I'll have to work on them. Whats wrong with them anyways? Do I not pronounce them correctly? Do I pronounce them at all?

  • @LatumWay Your American accent is pretty good. But yes, sometimes you slip with your r's. For instance, an American would say "murder" not "meudah."

  • it really depends on what sounds preceded or followed it, for example at the start of a word like "regret" there is nothing before it. So you would say it with a hard r sound, but the 2nd r is after a consonant so it is is also hard. In a word like "American" the "e" is surrounded by consonants, so it would sound like UH-MEH-RIH-CAN. It's hard to say why I think your "r"s don't sound right. I might just be overly picky. I sure as hell can't do a british accent :D

  • One serious question. Does the American (Hollywood) accent sound as cute to British women as the British accent sounds to American women. If so, I know where to take my next vacation. I am coming for your women!

  • I have no idea, so you'd have to ask them. But I would have thought so. Generally I would assume that any accent other than the one the hear all the time would be appealing. So go for it.

  • @michalchik no, generally speaking women in UK go for the Italian accent in my experience, with some preference towards the French. Where as men tend to go for the Russian or Scandanavian accents, although there has been a slight interest in the Holywood girl accent in some guys. Think Buffy The Vampire Slayer and you can see where the interest comes from, but that's not what I'd call common. Remember though this is just my circle of friends I'm talking about.

  • @TornadoCreator Damn it! Well, the truth can be brutal. Thanks for the info.

  • The American accent wasn't bad. It is actually the Hollywood accent which is the most common one seen on the media and has become the standard nation wide. There are a lot of regional accents and even subcultural accents in the US which I expect you have withing England not to mention the UK as a whole.

  • Your accent is incoherent. It's your own language and yet... I can't make it out. How come you ugly Brits have such rotten teeth and wrinkles at 22?

I bet you don't have the guts to rail against Islam. Do you approve of their treatment of gays and women? You attack Christians because you know they are civilized and won't cut your throat for insulting them.Take on Islam...coward!

By the way, stop using America's inventions: internet, electricity, computers, and...everything else. Duh!

  • Ugh....

  • Just... what?

  • Dude you need your ears checked. I am an American with the standard American accent, (Hollywood). I have zero problem understanding him. Maybe you just need practice listening to things outside American TV.

  • Your american accent was sick xD.

I'm australian, could you try ours? :D

    <3

  • Maybe i will. I've always thought I was good at it because I watch neighbours a lot, but who knows...

  • your school sounds exactly like my primary school. We used to pray for the most ridiculous things simply because we were so used to ending an assembly on a prayer.

Really i think we all used the "close your eyes and put your hands together" as a short nap.

  • Great video all around. ^^

  • Decent attempt at an American accent but I could tell that you were forcing it slightly and your normal one kept trying to creep back in. Still a good effort, I always thought that you reminded me a bit of a younger and cuter John Barrowman and with that accent you actually begin to SOUND like him too.

  • That's basically the same reason I became an athiest. I also tried LaVeyan Satanism for about 3 weeks about 2 years ago. . And it was more stupid that trying to be a christian . . I think another reason I'm an athiest is becuase I'm too independant to believe that there is someone that I have to rely on when I have problems. I also had a big problem with the church I was going to, they all found out that I was gay and basically told me not to come back, which pissed me off. .

  • Sounds rough.

  • Life is rough. :P

  • i was raised in a devote catholic family, during my teens i was asked to help the church, this is when i started to doubt god, "its his church why does he need this much money". another major factor was question of suffering, i developed my anti-theism later when i became aware fundamentalism in the united states.

  • 3out 5 stars on the accent. Pretty good.

  • Nice American accent.

  • 5* for not doing a southern or texan cliché well it's not really a cliche but people doing it is kinda

  • raised a fundie baptist christian....after a little college education, alot of marijuana, some profound self inflection, and a good rewatching of the matrix ...i decided to take the red pill and become an atheist

    your american accent is hilarious

  • In a good way or a bad way?

  • good way

  • Not a bad American accent. How aboot a Canadian accent, eh?

  • When you did the American accent, I expected a texan one. XD But that was really good though.

  • And that American accent was actually good.

  • kick flip with god win . . . after 6 months.

Good video. I broke out of Catholicism just over 2 years ago (19 right now). Now an atheist.

  • Good fo' yo'.

(I'm from the streets so thats how I talk)

  • I went to a Roman Catholic school for 10 years. The majority of the time I did not believe in God.

  • My music teacher who was a priest stuck his thumb up my arse in the name of Christ. That's about the time I stopped believing in the baby Jesus.

  • I don't know whether that was a whimsical joke or a harrowing recollection.

  • I wish it was a whimsical joke mate.

  • You really do well with the "American Accent" thing. My loving partner is English (Northeast Teeside area), and connot do anywhere near as well as you.

Cheers! Keep up the good work.

  • i hated praying and hymns, bloody pain.

    cool video!

  • Fantastic, far more realistic than my english accent would be!

  • Well done on the accent.

  • That was a great accent. You would fit into Michigan very nicely. (We don't have accents here, other places in the U.S. have them.)

    LOL

  • I'd love too dude.

  • Theres... an American accent? Thats not how people are supposed to talk!??!

Hah, that was so odd to hear that accent though. Was good, it sounded the part.

  • wow!

    GREAT job!

i could never speak american that well!

  • Pretty nice "American" accent. Everyone always seems to pick that regional accent that you did. I'd think a more Southern accent would be easier to do. I'd love to hear you try that one :) Or maybe even a Boston or New York accent.

  • I've also thought that a southern accent would be easier to do! You don't really hear it as much on tv, though.

  • Very well done American accent, except it's not an accent it's English without an accent. :p

  • not exactly true, english free of accent would be the queen's english. accents occur when people do not put the effort in to pronounce each sound in a word without replacing the wih something more muted.

and sorry i accidentaly hit spam instead of reply :S

  • Not bad but then again Im danish LOL

  • yea.. me too :P would love to see him pull off danish accent... i think it sounds so horrible when a dane who can't speak english :P...

  • Like kIm Larsen.. his accent is horrible!

  • That American accent was okay, you could probably pass for one of em if you were over there.
