This is the same Michael Green that said "music is NOT the cause of violence" and was proven terribly wrong with the Columbine massacre. It shadows my appreciation for these talented musicians when I see a piece of garbage like him hosting the event.
The other pianist, with the violinist, is Rohan De Silva, from Sri Lanka. i've met him when he came to Brazil with Perlman, i was his page turner.... what a pianist!

I just feel sad that people with negative comments land up saying mean things but why....if you'll cant appreciate something good just dont say it at all....why demean yourself just for the heck of making a point.....isnt it childish in the first place....
These kids are great. And of course we know there are many more who did NOT get on tv. It's a shame that in a few years, when they are not "cute" anymore, most will be cast aside, regardless of how far they advance from here. Adult musicians of this caliber are not celebrated enough. Yes, these kids have talent, but there are SO many adult musicians in these genres that will never get recognized because they aren't kids. I wonder how someone like ladygaga fells when she hears kids like this
@petrocef Eldar, actually defied that fate. You can recognize a higher class of talent in his playing than in the standard child prodigy, and it developed so well as he got older.
tony royster is so much more talented than any of the other musicians. notic how hes on drums, the most dynamic instrument, and hes the only one who continues playing whilst talking - a hard skill. For his solos he also makes all the others stop and owns it up. And gets the biggest cheer.
Not to diminish the violinist's MONSTER skills, but she completely and utterly flubbed 1:59-2:02. Literally skipped every single written note (of many that goes there.) It happens though - the remainder of her performance is seriously outstanding in tone and technique at any age, let alone an 11 year old.
I'm just saying. They just had a lot of practice. Maybe 4 or 5 hours a DAY. I play that much in a WEEK! Kudos to them for being able to play in front of all of those people. Also, they may be very good at playing, but can they write music which is good. Anybody can play but only a handfull of people can write amazing music.
@Montops they probably wanted to practise that much.
it's not necceserally how much you do it, it's how much effort you put into it. I could go to a piano and start playing one single tune all day. where will that get me? i'll get the tune. that's it. nothing else. or, i could get the tune, and then move on to something more complicated
@Montops You sound very resentful. Serious musicians will put those hours in, so you can't imply that the kids are good just because they had a lot of practice. You offer them kudos for being able to play in front of a large audience, but not for developing their natural talent, dedicating time to it, being able to improvise etc. Also, for all you know they may have written more music than you. A lot of child prodigies do write, and very well. And you say anybody can play. Really?
@jazzforthepeople I believe that they put in the hours. Its all work ethic, which i dont have. But if anyone put in those hours, they would be as good as these kids. i belive that they would have written lots of music, cause i would have been writing music if i were as good as them. Just the one question is, do they have a life? And friends? Becasue I wouldn't if i were one of them. I would be holed up in my room playing and writting all day long.
@Montops I can only speak for the violinist when I say, yes, she has friends, a top-notch education, a successful career, and a pretty wide range of interests and talents, so watch it when you make assumptions like that.
Kay I've been playing piano since I was four (I'm 16), too and I'm nowhere NEAR that kid's skill. They're definitely prodigies. I also have a 10 year old sister (the violinist is 11) and yeah.. If you heard her play and then heard one of them, you'd either agree they're prodigies or think they're pretty darn close! Lol.
Its funny how they are called prodigys when they have just been practicing since they were 4 years old. That dosent mean that they are incredabaly talented, it just means they had a LOT of practice.

HOLY. That girl with violin is pro i tell you...i've been playing for 4 years and I don't think I can do that in 10 years. Or more. And that piano guy is pro too.
S'all about chops and playing fast and loud. I doubt these kids will really have an impact on music as we know it. I mean, Hendrix and Beethoven and Coltrane weren't prodigies.
You consider Joe Bonamassa in the same ranks as people like Hendrix and John Coltrane and Beethoven? Come on dude, seriously? And while your busy talking about Bonamassa, who is a great blues player at best. BY FAR NOT one of the greatest guitarists alive today. But then again you've probably never heard of Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ben Monder, Adam Rogers, Gilad Hekselman, Mike Moreno etc...
U are right, however, in my opinion half of these kids wil b great musicians.

Wow, suprised at people arguing over what a prodigy is. Does it really matter? Anyways, I was the Assistant Band Director when Tony (the drummer) was in high school and I can promise you that he was a child prodigy. I think he started at 3 and picked it up very fast. ...oh and Hinesville is not next to Atlanta. It's next to Ft. Stewart and Savannah.
