Gawd just put those galaxies there to amuse us when we invented telescopes. And created the light in transit to cover up the fact that although they were created 6012 years ago they are millions of light years away. What a prankster, eh?

They are pretty, though. Awe-inspiring, in fact. If the Babble had told us of them and promised that in thousands of years we'd invent instruments that would let us see them, I might take it a little more seriously.

Pictures such as the one you had shown in this video remind me of the mathematically produced fractal images in that the details look as if the objects are really much smaller than they actually are. I mean much much smaller. Is this just my mind drawing conclusions that are only conceptual or is there something actually significant about that observation?

hmmm. download the full resolution TIFF file and you can see the clipping paths from where they stitched 4 or 5 of the photos together.

Thought it was interesting that they would save it with the clipping path. Not only can you see evidence of stitching, but it increases the files size too!
