how old he is in those videos he has good vitality in his body which shows that he constantly does some breathing and posture training.the day he would not too those things his hand gestures would be very slow and he cant movie so quickly.i hope he never loses his training:)
Just because you can bend in a certain way doesn't mean you've reached some higher sense of mental spirituality.
I think goofy belief systems like this are people's strange way of explaining away something they don't understand or making something out of nothing based on their inborn arrogance spawned from something they can do that others cannot.
Your thinking sounds very christian : "mental spirituality"?!! Nonsense. Learn about integrated mind-body relationship. Your experience reflects your are dead in your body. The only arrogance I see here is your sense of all-knowingness to judge what you dont know!!! Have you done yoga?!! Have you experienced anything? If not, stop pretending like a philosopher to others..
I only ask if you have contemplated what you have said. Is it your true belief that you know exactly what Iyengar Yoga is all about and it does not have any philosophical basis whatsoever? If not, then please do not go about preaching your misguided percieved philosophy to all the indifferent people out there.
I have been an Iyengar Yoga student for 12 years and I know that there is a basis to all his assertions that have been tested and passed on for generations. You do not have to believe in them, but don't go about writing things that YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT...
In any case, the foundation of Iyengar Yoga, the reason why it is different from the other schools of yoga (at least at the beginner's level) is because you can be of any shape or size and still practice the poses because it invented the use props which can help support the body for different postures if your body finds it difficult to perform the pose. So your body does not always have to be able to "bend in a certain way" as you so aptly put it.
I disagree with you. But even if you somehow win this argument you're still a moron for arguing over the internet.
I stand by my original comment even though you can't read deep enough to realise what I'm actually saying. Instead you attach a label and go nuts. I'm not preaching anything. I'm giving an opinion and if you don't like it then you can eat a nice frothy bowl of shit.
bks iyengar always encourages his students to read, an cultivate the mind at the same time of practising yoga. read the tree of yoga, and you will discover his deepest human being.
