I am an American who has lived in Saudi for 5 years. I wish everyone could know around the world the kindliness of the Saudi ways. These are one of the most peaceful, warm-hearted people I've ever met with genuine smiles that will lighten your spirit. @MeredithWaters i was in saudi arabia recently, briefly in a long layover from singapore, i went to get coffee and while i was ordering an old saudi man just started talking over me to the guy behind the counter and waving money.... the poor coffee guy basically had to serve us both simultaneously.... this happened twice in my 6 hours in SA... was i unlucky or is this some cultural thing? for what it's worth everyone else was ridiculously friendly... and that's airport staff!
@honkyxadonis I wouldn't judge cultural norms by what you see at the airport, where everyone of every culture is trying to make their flight or car. Like I said, I lived in Saudi for 5 years and have met warm and friendly people. At the bank, going out of their way to help and offer me and my husband a cup of tea while we waited. I can't imagine that ever happening in the US!

I am dating a guy from saudi arabia at the moment at university. I am from Australia. He is a nice man, intelligent and respectful. Our cultures are so different though. Arab women seem very fragile and they embrace their femininity. However, their dress is somewhat restrictive.
