  • i have you in my mind, mariska :)

  • out of bed

  • perfect chords. played so effortlessly aswell....... i hate that haha :D

love ya don. your partly why i started playing guitar

  • this is much the finest mojo

  • Never knew Jerry Garcia was still alive and kicking...

  • Amazing song. I guess if I want it to be this low i need to tune The baritone would have been CGA#D#GC. or C#G#BEG#C#

  • Holy cow!

  • I like him better looking like this than clean shaven :P

  • Who would have known you could tell a story with a guitar so well

    Absolute amazing song

Don is a very intelligent guitarist

  • Brilliant performance; especially kudos for such consistent tempo.

  • this man is amazing

  • People!!!Try to watch his website & you`ll the tunning for baritone guitar - BEADF#B

  • such a genious Don. im pleased to see people are starting to recognise. this tune's been on my favourites for well over a year (perhaps 2) but its never got old. jus more familiar. kik arse fellow musician

  • I've been trying for 2 days (time I usually use for any other song) to tab this song by ear and I can't get passed the first 10 seconds of the solo!!!!! This song is just perfect. Don you're the best!!!!!

  • I think this tuning might be C#G#BEG#C#

  • @rogiermusic I think it might be CFBbEbEGC (that's a half lower)... basically EBDGBE two whole steps lower. I say that because the lowest note he seems to be hitting is a C.

  • @DuskY1991 Yeah, but I tried it and altough it was al long time ago, I was the closest to this tuning with C#G#BEG#C#. Why that F in CFBbEbEGC? Isnt it a G?

I still have to learn this song.

  • @rogiermusic Yes, I was thinking G but I typed F... haha. I still have to learn it too.

  • Official Don Ross -> With You In Mind : EBDGBE. set it & play it!! its correct.

  • God this man is fanominal! I would love to hang and watch him play-could listen for HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Master! :)

  • i want more and more don ross songs!

  • but this is not baritone guitar, or?

  • it is

  • this version is waaaaaaay better than the album version.

  • The intro is something else 0:12 brilliant!

  • stanndard tuning except the 5th string the A tune up to a B carefully, or replace it with a D string and lower it to a B. the rest of the strings are standard.

k this mkaes it pretty clear

  • watch?v=6ckcwL8gd5k&feature=related

  • How do i do to tune the 5th string from A to B?

  • Very carefully !

OR.. this is what i have done. I got a thick D string and replaced the 5th A string with the thick D string which makes it easier to tune to the B. It benefits aswell especially for other songs like Andy Mckee's where the A string needs to go to a C.

  • hi, I'm just trying to understand the question...do you mean tune the A up to B ? if so, I do this regularly when I tune to open E with regular strings . I wouldnt go up to C though, if this is what you mean??? Thanks.

  • okk the dude was asking how to tune the A string up to a B which is what is needed for this tuning. basically either try tuning it up carefully and try not to pop it or restring the 5th string with a thick D (4th) string and its so much easier and you can get up to higher tunings.

  • 1. Listen to the sound of the guitar ... That alone gives it away that it's not a classical.

    2. Look at the tuning pegs ... Those aren't the types of pegs used to tune classical guitars.

  • ofc its acoustic...little brother was on my pc..

  • Steel string classic?Right...

  • Half man, half owl.

    100% god.

  • hahahahahahaha. I know exactly what you mean.

  • GREAT!

  • ugh...amazing...need to learn how to play this.

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • the slide from one note to another is just amazing...

  • perfect....with you in mind...

  • one of my absolute favorites from don ross....

  • Absolutely marvelous.

  • Go don ross! yea yea yea :D

  • This song is a modern day masterpiece. Thx for posting!

  • Jazzy sound, love it so much!!

  • nick830668, if this is a half step up on the baritone, the tuning would be CGA#D#GC

  • Saw him place this live tonight with Andy Mckee... WOW

  • Man I especially love how he hit the harmonics every so often, but more so at 4:06

  • If you think this is good, you should hear the studio version!

  • Awesome song

  • This is exactly what makes Don Ross so great. How he's doing that funky little drive, having that half-jazzy Steely Dan-like thing going on harmonically, seasoned with nice flageolettes. This is funky, other fingerstyle guitarists with their sugar sweet pop harmonies are just left behind by this.

  • Like the painter (Bob Ross) you can really make a nice portrait... "just some little happy notes" :) i thought i even saw your guitar smile on this one!

  • This is in the key of Whoa!

  • whats the tuning for this on the baritone? i just bought one and i want to learn it

  • BF#ADF#B

  • :D yeeeeaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!

  • OMFG this is 2 much. I would give anything in this worold to play this in front of every women (and guys) of my office xD.

    hahaha, awesome tune indeed.

  • I didn't know Hagrid played that good !!!

  • if you listen to the harmonics the tuning is clearly CGCGCD

    the firs chord is 020300

  • its a baritone so its different

  • the tuning of this song is standard is EBDGBE so in baritone that would obviously be BF#ADF#B and the first chord is 040032 haha

  • its a baritone thats why its lower, its ebdgbe

  • great sound!!!

  • CGCFAD sounds ALOT more like Don's tunning in this one then EBDGBE.... if you have any EAR whatsoever, the 6th string is obviously NOT an E. I'm still not 100% convinced CGCFAD is the correct one, but I'll see if I can't figure it out & post it. CGCFAD is very close though.

  • ZeroG83 and JonnyCrah: your ears are right, but that's not the tuning. The tuning on a *standard* guitar is EBDGBE. The confusion comes because in the workshop where this was recorded, Don played the tune on his *baritone* guitar. Baritones are usually tuned 3.5 steps lower than standard (altho' I don't know what Don's usual tuning is on his baritone). So you are right: you hear lower notes than standard pitch, but if to play this on a standard guitar you'd tune to EBDGBE.

  • @guitarmusic1 : My belief as always been that a standard tuning was EADGBE, not EBDGBE.

  • @docteurneo You are right, standard *tuning* is EADGBE ... but that's not what I said. I said that if you are going to play this tune on a standard *guitar*, then you tune the guitar to EBDGBE. In this video, Don is using a baritone guitar, so although pitches between the strings are the same, the tuning you hear is a lower pitch.

  • Tuning: EBDGBE

  • Actually, the tuning sounds more like CGCFAD. I could be wrong on one of the top strings (it's hard to tell just by listening to him play) so don't quote me, but it's definitely lower than the standard E tuning scale. Amazing song. My hat is off to Mr. Ross.

  • Nope, as I posted in the vid summary, and as someone posted below, the tuning is EBDGBE ... standard tuning with the A raised one step to B. No question about it.

  • Sorry, man. I'll read the summary next time before hand. Maybe I need to get my ears fixed.

  • Your ears are fine. I have my keyboard beside me here. but I don't however understand what he's saying about the *baritone* and what not :]

but you're hearing CGCFAD. At least the first ones are for sure.

but again. I don't know what he's explaining. I'm sure he's right tho haha :] I'm just saying what's on the vid

  • Baritone = guitar with longer scale than usual with bigger strings and lower tunings. This tune is almost standard tune except for the 'A' string (second biggest) that is tunned one whole tone up. So on a regular guitar, this tune would be, from low to high, E, B, D, G, B, E.

  • someone have the tab for this song ?

  • With chords from space!

  • Beautiful, beautiful piece Don. Could you let us in on the tuning? Anyone?

  • =) i love it
