@sciontcdude that won't happen. the pitcher can't do a set(go up to and touch the rubber) with out the ball in hand. that is called a balk. and the runner gets a free bag. so he would go from 2nd. to 3rd. :D

There are well over a dozen different things a pitcher can do that will result in a balk. This is considered a balk, I studied this at the umpire's clinic.

Technically it is a balk to step on the rubber without the ball, thats why you should wait until he steps on the rubber before you lead off.
