I use a flail against him, preferably Dao of Pow, but Sunfury works too. Just jump up in the air (wings, jet boots, or low gravity work best) as he approaches, throw the flail opposite of where he's approaching, lotsa damage.

Also, pronounced Wai-vern (-ai being like "high").
