  • ignore the ignorant. enjoy the talented. and forever remember that we we blessed to have the man even if it was for a short time. the angels had their say, now stevie and jimi play for them to this very day...

  • Haha! Stevie has so much more imagination and power than this person who is only using his licks! This guy is very good but there's no Stevie's MAGIC! This sounds like Stevie in sleep...

  • @arnonurmisto1 You can even hear Stevie talking at the end you fucking idiot.Your comment is only an insult to Stevie.

  • why all this dumpass gomment if you dont like what you hear close it again an shut up an dont speak bad about SRV idiots who dont know anything about musik at all

  • SRV,,,

  • it's clearly lenny with the first part of the intro missing,it's not rocket science you lot..hear my train a coming is completely fucking different

  • 12 strings of total bliss..........nothing finer

  • @arai59 their is a speciality to 12 string guitars you know what..........2 times as much pussy as on a 6 string..

  • So... half the video didn't upload and you thought you'd just call it quits?

  • Learn your music man, thats called jamming.

  • SRV!!! forever muthufuckers, one of the best ever, r.i.p. baby.

  • seems like the intro is jimi hendrix's" train a comin" with the acoustic swag and then later it goes into lenny

  • Hi Mick! Nice video even with the problem at the start! Enjoyed it!! Joey Vaughan "World Blues Attack"

  • I'm a big SRV fan I think his twelve string guitar was out of tune by making it seem like he wasn't playing up to par! It's really risky playing a twelve string live not too many people successful in pulling that off but Jimmy Page and he wasn't always in tune with his twelve string always either. I think a twelve is better to be used in the studio for recording. That's just my opinion. If your are to play one live go with the Ovation

    Twelve!

  • Now I can go pee

  • I have to go pee, but I just can't stop listening! :(

  • I've been listening to SRV for 27 years now. His fret work is unmistakeable. I absolutely love this!!! What a rare gem!!!

  • ultraawesomenessplus

  • No fake at all. We can feel his genius immediately. One SRV, ever.

  • Nice to bad this was not played on MTV unpluged

  • Nice song Mick!! So very smooth!! Joey Vaughan "World Blues Attack"

  • this is a great version - just love all of SRV's playing!! interesting in how it is being played in "D" - he must have tuned it down that far due to the heaviness/gauge of strings and still wanting to bend, like he did with his electrics, which he tuned to Eb for the same reason. Love at the end how he says "this is the first time I've ever done an acoustic set so, just bear with me OK" right after playing the shit out of Lenny! such a humble man. RIP SRV

  • huh?

  • Great video! I Love it.so sweet S.R.V

  • @sebamullerrosas Over 40,000 views and you've been the biggest prick out of all them people.Grow up you idiot and stop posting stupid repeating fucking comments. The people that really know Stevie know this isn't fake,Obviously you know Jack Shit.

  • This sounds more like Hear my train a coming

  • @clearasil11 I have heard lenny and hear my train a comin, this sounds more like hear my train a comin than it does lenny.

  • @clearasil11 Yeah it does but it's not sadly.Click and read the link that pops up on the video neart the start and that will clear up the confusion I hope

  • Comment removed

  • @Carthsgtr Listen to the other video I have it contains the actual intro to this song and it's clearly Lenny,The only reason you think it sounds like hear my train a coming is because he's using a 12 string. If it was a cover of hear my train a comin',I would have named it ''Hear my train a comin' cover''.Now,Fuck Off.

  • @clearasil11 first off this isnt fake,i know stevies playin anywhere.thanks for posting.yes it does sound like hear that train a comin,by jimi.

  • wow cool version

  • GUILD 12 STRING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this song sounds so different acoustic, I didn't even recognize it at first.

  • Hear my train a comin' yeahhh hear my train a-coming... take me...from this.. lone-some pla-ace yeah. See ya'll in heaven Jimi and Stevie.

  • What idiot didn't like this.

  • guess it doesn't matter if its tha name of his guitar or his wife...it just matters that his legacy lives on....and also his inspiration....cuz if it i inspires you....that's all that matters....go play guitar...and sing...pretty sure that's all of the greats want...rite?

  • @busybeeness Yep...it's what they did.

    Peace.

  • Lenny is the name of his guitar......not his wife

  • @mikesoros Its actually both, Lenora was his wife whos nickname was Lenny and he named it after her. She and some friends bought him the guitar for his birthday during the first year they were married cause he loved it but couldn't afford it. He then stayed up all that night while she slept and wrote the song Lenny and played it for her when she woke up the next morning.

  • @spacepenguin89 and she acutally though tpride and joy was made about one of his ex's so he wrote it for her

  • @Sly6035 I thought he wrote prode and joy for his #1 guitar?

  • @WaltonWembleyMusic no his wife

  • @mikesoros Lenora is his wife's name which can be shortened down lenny..

  • @mikesoros its also his wife

  • @mikesoros - no it's his wife Lenora also known as lenny.

  • @mikesoros lenora was the name of his first wife lenny is what they called her

  • @Sly6035 it was also the name of his guitar.

  • @rawjokes yes ik that

  • Thanks!!!

  • his wifes name was lenny

  • wasnt this song dedicated to his girl?

  • The original SRV guitar had a muffler plate and his initials carved into it.

  • @MrBluesman14 what is a muffler plate?

  • Sorry. it's just the metal ending n the muffler.

  • never copying, but always identifying.

  • Per SRV's guitar tech Rene Martinez: "He broke so many tremolos that one time only a lefty was available, Stevie said "cool, like Jimi's." ..."the empty spot on the right was filled w/ small plug of wood." from Guitar World Mag interview w/ Andy Aledort, Sept. 1997. "(Bro) Jimmie had JLV stickers on his, and I asked If he cared if I copied it, He said he copied it from a black dude, and go ahead...replaced when wore off" SRV quote in Craig Hopkins biography "Day by Day, Night After Night".

  • Very first time to hear this, great stuff. Thanks!

  • During the Unplugged session.

  • I don't think SRV played life by the drop live. Can anyone tell me?

  • this is possibly the greatest piece of acoustic blues improvisation that came from SRV, in my opinion.

  • jammin

  • amazing, heartfelt, passionate, and emotional = the blues

  • Dudes normally I think Lenny doesn't borrow from JH at all, but this one has some "Hear My Train is Coming" to my ear. But it could be just blues and not so much to do with JH at all. Thanks for listening to some great music all! Peace!

  • you idiot guitar egos need to shut up, stop arguing, and go back to playing "Stairway to Heaven" at your local guitar shop.

  • yes stop arguing, music should not be analyzed just feel it

  • Well that was my point to start off with. Some idiot says he can hear a Hendrix influence. He's full of shit.

  • hahaha, i'm sorry but this is so stupid.

and man, tbmintz, from reading this you just sound like the biggest prick, and you were a dick to that kid. sorry man, you're just as guilty as everyone else.

agreeing with the guy below me ... JUST FEEL IT

  • Oh yeah Phil? What part do you "REALLY HEAR" the "hendrix" influence. By the way what Hendrix influence? You act like Stevie studied under the man or something.

  • @tbmintz Well, Stevie Ray did study Hendrix's work, although I don't think he ever had direct contact with him. But he covered multiple Hendrix tunes (ie, Voodoo Chile, Little Wing, and planned to do some with Clapton before he died), so obviously he was influenced by him. And this piece's guitar part has some noticeable similarities to Hendrix style rhythm, which most like DID come from his tendency to listen to and learn from Hendrix. So I would agree with @Phil5150rocker .

  • I'm not doubting in anyway that Stevie listen to Hendrix, as do all guitarist, But to say that you can really hear a Hendrix influence in this song is going too far. Don't forget that Stevie studied players that Hendrix studied as well. You could just as easy make an argument that there is a Buddy Guy, BB King, Albert Collins, Elmore James or Eric Clapton influence can you not, My question was what part do you hear the hendrix influence and your answer is style rhythm. Sorry I don't hear it

  • Man Stevie loved Hendrix so much that he specially placed a left handed tremolo on his #1 strat. He did it that way so he could have an "upside down" tremolo arm like Jimi did when he played a right-handed strat left-handed. He was so influenced by Hendrix that he once said in an interview that Jimi had taught him licks in a dream but he would wake up and not be able to remember the lick. He was VERY influenced by Jimi Hendrix!

  • Definetely influenced, but not his #1 influence cause Stevie had many influences and nobody becomes somebody out of one or two people (I mean musically). And after all, Stevie was a guy with his own voice, style, tone, licks, approach, etc... Never really copying anybody, he had his own thing going on from the very start.

  • Yeah, I'm definitely not saying Stevie copied Jimi, he drew influence from lots of guys (Albert & Freddie King, Clapton, Hubert Sumlin, Jimmie Vaughn, Lonnie Mack and many others I'm sure). His sound was a mixture of everyone he listened to, therefore he was very unique. As for who his #1 influence was, none of us really know, but Hendrix was pretty far up there for certain.

  • So much was his own style, that often the members of the band were left in the dust. Stevie would just take off his own direction during a song, and they were never quite sure where to go with it.

  • Ofcourse Stevie was influenced by Jimi, but that wasn't the reason that he had an left tremelo on his #1 strat. The tremelo was broken and a left one was the only one in stock at the moment.

  • Yes it was!! Man I've read about it where Stevie himself said that's the reason. Not to copy Jimi, but because he thought it helped Jimi by playing upside down. Stevie wanted to continue playing right handed so he could reach all the frets but wanted the upside down arm. Look it up, man I'm not just saying this, I'm stating facts. By the way, you don't just "install" a lefty trem on righty Strat, you have to make all new cuts to make it fit.

  • Yeah, he was never copying Jimi. He was himself always.

  • Looked it up, here ya go -

"Soon after he got the guitar, Vaughan tried to change the guitar over to a 'left-handed' tremolo to imitate one of his idols, Jimi Hendrix. Because the quality of his 'transformation' was so poor, he went to a truck stop to find something to cover the giant hole he chopped in the body, hence the "CUSTOM" sticker across the bottom of the bridge. He also found some large, prismatic stickers to spell his initials "SRV" on-

  • Thank You! Never in this whole little argument here was I trying to say that SRV was directly copying Hendrix. But Hendrix WAS the reason for the left handed tremolo!

  • @HDbiikerchick thats for number one the stratocaster!

  • @MrYoter and Buddy Guy he once said if there was no Buddy guy there would be no Stevie Ray

  • @MrYoter Well that story is actually a common misconception. Stevie didn't switch to a left-handed tremolo arm to imitate Hendrix. One night he was playing no. 1 with the original tremolo arm and he broke it because he was playing so hard. It had to be replaced, but the only one they had was a lefty tremolo, so he decided for that so he could play no. 1 the next night.

That's the actual story, or at least what I've heard and read. There's so much mythology about that guitar. Who really cares?

  • @kassemir Yeah i hear you.... who really cares? I don't. I do know that SRV made unbelievably gorgeous music with every guitar he played - and that's what I care about.

  • @MrYoter Well put. Like Billy Gibbons said "it's all in the hands". And Stevie had the best set of hands in the business. Period!!

  • @kassemir No doubt about it!!

  • @MrYoter hell yeah, and just friended you as well, thanks for the invite any fan of Stevie is a friend of mine!!!

  • @kassemir Yah thats EXACTLY what happened! The trem arm broke off with part of it still inside the hole so Rene Martinez (Stevie's long time tech & buddy), decided to put a completely new bridge in, & like ya said, all he had was a gold plated lefty in which Stevie thought was cool cuz it was a lefty like Jimi's. & also like ya said, WHO CARES really!!?? Although its sometimes fun to exchange lil tidbits of info like that! I guess if your not a fan, ya dont really appreciate the stories! Rock on

  • @jasonjones71 Ha, well nice to have that cleared up. And that way it was kind of a combo between both stories which just makes it even cooler.

And yeah, little pieces of trivia like this is fun and also interesting. And yeah, I'm a huge SRV fan and I really care about the stories.

And yeah rock on dude and thanks for adding to our speculations and clearing things up!!

  • @MrYoter Yes, I agree that he was very influenced by Hendrix but I've no idea who or what influenced him here. His studio version of Lenny is lovely but this sounds hellish. Lousy playing is lousy playing no matter who's doing it.

  • @lewars1912 You sir are very off your rocker.

  • @youtoober808 You've offended me terribly lol.

  • @MrYoter i think the harshest criticism he ever recieved was people calling him a jimi hendrix clone, im sure he took it as a compliment!

  • you can really hear the Hendrix influence on this one.

  • I had to listen Is it Stevie or not. Ok it was. But I wasn´t too impressed.

  • really cool indeed, no doubt about this one: 'Lenny'

  • Awesome!!!

    Grandma mary

  • i dont see how this is lenny, doesnt sound like lenny to me.

  • listen to it carefully.........its lenny alright :)

  • Thx very much for this!!

  • wow. Ive got this show as well. Ive always imagined what it looked like when listening to it. I wasnt that far off. Thanks connie
