Thai Airways does on of the best maintenance in asia. Tg-961 may be a bit old but dont worry, i´ve been flying with it for 5 years and never had any problems. SAS has many more problems than Thai and in maintenance. Thai use an 747-414R between ARN-BKK wich is the latest model of the 747 to this day. Have a drink (wich are free) enjoy and relax.
