  • We won, thats all that matters!

  • good luck to the bin men

  • Good luck to all the bin men/ladies on catching up with the back log. If any of you have time can you take a a vew vids pls.

Happy christmas and Happy New year to you all

  • The equal pay law has been in for years, employers have carried on discriminating instead of solving the issue, now they are being faced by court action they are trying to solve this by bringing mens pay down to womens rates, these employers hide behind "modernisation" which seems to be the new management buzz word meaning more work for less pay,of course themanagers are all desk jockeys on £40,000 plus.

  • leeds bin strike would have not happen if the council was run by labour

  • I have to admit I'm curious about something.

Point A - 5% ( depending on when you live ) of your council tax goes on refuse collection.

Point B - When on strike you don't get paid

So if people in Leeds have had no refuse collected for near 3 months wheres all that money gone .... and thats alot of money 5% of council tax from over 700,000 people.

Sure there are still costs when the operation isn't running but still, if it were me I would deduct £50 from my next bill.

  • At the moment it seems like refuse collectors and road sweepers are the only jobs going through recruitment agencies and they pay you £5.80 an hour and you need to work 45 hours a week and you need to start at 6am. The frightening thing is people are accepting these positions!

  • wot a nasty vindictive person you are

  • Maybe you would like to do the job for a month hey? Walking over fifteen miles per day in all weathers and putting up with the stick and abuse one gets from the general public.

All that for £13,000 per year, it is a bad joke, there would be more dignity in becoming a benefit bandit.

  • you take stick from the public .and its not that easy when people pack about 90kg in there bin and that is a lot .i want to do the job .its not as hard nowadays .

  • Tosser.

  • more power to the Leeds binners, it's a shitty job but some one has to do it, so why should they do it for less money, it's immoral and an insult to working men and women to devalue their jobs by dropping their money all because the council have been illegally under paying the female work force for years... good luck and stay srong

  • worcesteradam83, Sun reader are you?

I thought so. The ruling party is LIBDEM. The Labour party (not "New Labour) have been trying to get the issue resolved, but were told to go away by the LIBDEM's. Before you open your pathetic mouth READ THE STORY, Moron.

  • cut the council employees pay, and send them into debt, how can they keep up with the cost of living and the stresses this is putting upon families.

110% support for them, the trouble is it's going to get worse. :-[

  • equalise = paycuts

    HA HA HA

    stupid labour voters

  • Refuge contractors in Leicestershire only get minimum wage and they're lucky if they get a 30 hour week. It must be the same in most places.

  • Is this Africa?

  • Funny how these idiots never seem to examine the unintended consequences of their policies.

Just as long as it makes them feel good.
