He didnt' give up on her. A) he was with Brooke, anda he didn't want to hurt Brooke, and he didn't act on his feelings becuase he was scared of being hurt again. He told her how he felt, and she slammed down his feelings. She wanted a fling, and that hurt him. It wasn't about moving on to her friend, it was about Brooke wanting him. Brooke didn't hide from him, and he did like who Brooke was, he was only 17. Love doens't work itself out over night, especiall when your a teenager.

I'm so glad that Peyton totally kicked Lucas' ass about this. His excuses are total bull. His pride got hurt when Peyton was honest with him about not being ready just yet and he acted like a little boy about it. It wasn't even really a rejection! This is the best acting so far that I've seen from Hilarie. I think Lucas is just being unreasonable. Between the two of them, Peyton has more logical reasons. When the episode was ending, i was expecting that despite the desperation, they will end up kissing because of all the emotions...hahahahha..wishful thinking or maybe in ep 7 :)

Have you ever been in a serious, long term relationship that then became long distance? If no, you have NO insight into this situation. In real life, peyton would have been absolutely right. A bi-coastal marriage is not fair or reasonable when both people are only 19!
Also, she was right that resentment would brew if one had to move. She could have believed in him and his dream of getting published, but sometimes it takes YEARS to get published and they would have spent the first, hardest years of their marriage thousands of miles apart. She was being realistic for their situation. I agree that she shouldn't have thrown the books though.
