  • I am not against electric cars actually, I have seen a future LMP concept that was all electric and I thought the Citroen GT is a really cool car but was diappointed the concept had a a gas engine in it though...

    Sorry to cause a ruckus...

  • @ MrMotorsportsFanatic: Apologies for my overreaction. I've been in a sour mood. I've removed my previous caustic comments.

  • This car had absolutely no soul, sounds terrible, very whiney. Hear a Ferrari or an Aston Martin sometime, that is soul and passion.

The reason this car died was ultimately (yes some people liked it) that there wasn't a huge market for it. But come on, it can't suit eveyone.

The car would've cost GM to make $75K-$100K, and they based the lease payments of a price of $34K, and that was over 10 years ago.

Plus, $33K is expensive, people desire reliability and practicality.

  • LOL the traction controll light was on untill you hit 42.. Awesome!

  • The electric motor sounds makes the ride great, we are so unlucky to have such cars.

  • theres more money to be made on big SUVs and Hummers

ev-1 was the most advanced electric car and now look where GM is and who is the #1 car maker TOYOTA

  • If i had an ev1, i would be doing burnout all day long, and not have a worry in the world. Electric drive has tonnes of torque through the entire rpm range, and has minimal moving parts to break

  • While the EV1 is no longer around, the video is definitely a great idea of what it would have been like to drive one.

(In the age of $4.00 gas prices) That car would have been profitable, if GM actually gave it a chance

  • that video make me sad to see them long gone

  • looks like it goes so well!

  • AC induction drive motor, great sound

  • well once again its fricken OIL that drives a lot of good ideas down the drain!!!! i just saw a movie on this car you should watch it very interesting!!!

  • Do you still have the car ? Can you drive it?

The GM EV1 would have done so well in Australia.

  • Dead right it wouldve mate yes, it would be more than suitable for my needs, and thats even the 12 year ago original model.

  • GM recalled all the EV1's in 2004 to be ultimately destroyed.

I have no idea why, I blame fossil fuel lobbyists and corporate pressure on GM

  • GM only leased out the EV1, so no one could truly own one. They then repossessed ALL EV1 cars, and crushed them in whole. Why? They were all fully functional and safe. There is much conspiracy behind it. Look it up!

There actually are some people who have used the decommissioned EV1's, and rebuilt them back!

  • there is only 1 left in the world and it has been dismantled

  • Not true! There are around 40 left and some are even revived!

  • nearly 1200 sold...

  • i tottaly agree..get like a bunch of hummers and crush them all

  • Agreed a lot of H2's and H3's

  • How was it to drive an EV1? Please be honest.

  • Will I ever drive an EV1 before I die?

  • Alas, that's unlikely. All but a few have been destroyed. I feel privileged to have driven EV1s on two occasions - both birthday present rentals from my wife.
