The Spetnaz "Systema" hand fighting technique is based more on street fighting and total attack which is aimed at not giving the opponent no chance to resist and the Spetznaz soldier's superior strength, stamina and quickness. Other Spec Ops soldiers use matial arts techniques and agility. Most other Spec Ops will shoot in a 'double tap' technique and do not pick up spent shells while Spetznaz pick up every shell and shoot until dead. Spetznaz are the toughest. US Delta/Seals are smartest.

Mikhail used to tell us, "you shouldn't hate your opponent, but you shouldn't love them either, you need to be in the middle" -- because both ends of the spectrum cloud your better judgement. -- another good quote from Mikhail was "We give up from self pity" he was telling us this while we were struggling to do the sloooow pushups and kicking up in the ribs at the same time - those were the good ol' days!

@ghegozi Being a solider is about doing a job. With the right mental preparation you can be prepared to do what is necessary on the battlefield, and leave it out there. A well trained soldier doesn't need to bring back that same attitude. There is an excellent book out called Trigger Men which focuses on US Special Operations snipers in the war on terror. It goes into the mentality and training and why so many are brutally effective on the battlefield but they don't turn into monsters at home
