They told my Ma if she didn't get a new kidney within 5 years of starting dialysis that she'd be dead by then. My Ma was on dialysis for 25 years. After 10 years had passed they told her she had too many anti-bodies in her blood that she's never get a transplant. After 25yrs of dialysis my Ma got a transplant. 3 years later they decided to give her a new anti-rejection drug which, you guessed it, made her body reject the new kidney and she died. PKD is a sukey MO-FO!!! A former colleague of mine has it as well as his son. For all kinds of amazing reasons, he was matched with a living donor and had a transplant. I know this is a dark evil meanie disease that you are stuck with but hopefully, over time, the network of both cadaver and living organ donations is improved (for all organs) with technology and educating the public via social media.

I really hope everything goes well. It really sucks that you (and many others) have to go through this. Hopefully time is on your side, and you get the kidney you need. No way to tell if time is or is not on your side though, so just be positive and enjoy life, especially since it's hard to tell how much longer you can actually do that. Best of luck to you.

My grandpa has been on dialysis for more than a year along with MANY other health problems. He takes nnitroglycerin for his heart like there advil and has almost died several times. He's been on his death bed for years, so if he can keep ticking with his medical problems I'm sure you can beat yours. Also he's been a bastard all his life and deserves everything that's wrong with him.
