  • @kiityemly You naughty thing you! bet it was fun lol!

  • Do children listen to these songs anymore? Wow its these songs I remember from being a kid, none of the chart stuff that was out.

  • @ShamrocksGetYouHigh I do hope kids still listen to these songs. I have had lots of young people comment saying they like them. Young people like yourself, getting there children or nephew/niece to listen.

You are to young to remember "Children's Favourites" on the radio Saturday mornings, where I as a child heard these songs.

Thank You for watching. Where in Ireland are you?

I was a truck driver in England, and been to Belfast & Larne a couple of times.

Thank you so much. Will be spending the night looking for more memories now.

  • @Conny11121 Your Welcome!

I have put alot of Children songs on video, which I used to listen to on the radio when I was a child. Do you remember " Childrens Favourites" on a Saturday with Uncle Mac?. Glad you enjoyed it, I enjoyed making them.

Gilly Gilly" Is number 2 in the most watched, number 1 is Kathy Kirby singing Secret Love.

The young man in the video is my Son,

    Best regards Dave

  • thank you so much for posting this I can now introduce my grandchildren to the joyous songs we had as children

  • @Debify You are Welcome.

This is why I posted these songs, so in some small way they will live on. It would be so sad if they are completely forgotten.

    Best Regards Dave

  • @Jenny25513 Thank you for watching. So glad it brought back memories, our childhoods were so full of fun. We did so much, summers were always Sunny. And with 3d we were rich! We were so happy with any treat no matter how small.

Listen to Uncle Mac on Saturday Childrens Favourites.

    Dave

  • Was only looking for the Pink Toothbrush and found this - lovely memories and even made me blub.

    Thanks for posting it Dave.

  • @nixelles I am so glad it brought back lovely memories for you.

  • I grew up singing this as 'gilly gilly hossenfeffer casa bela nova by the sea. xx

  • Who's that guy in 2:22?

  • @Legobro234 The words if you listen "Thats a good idea SON". It is my Son..

  • Thanks Dave, life was great then. The ABC Minors, races round the block, back garden concerts, football in the street with no cars, Front doors open ( we had nothing to steal) treats of fruit and pan sugar, the intermission on T.V. Old Meg singing your a pink toothbrush and sailor, constant sunshine, holes in my trousers. Cripes, I'm a grumpy old man!. Wouldn't trade the memories, kids today are cossetted, wrapped in cotton wool, let them have a childhood like us and skin their knees.

  • Omg. My Nan & Mother use to sing this too me when I was a baby. How shameful lol.

  • @minioutlaw1 G'Day! Maybe shameful now , but what lovely memoirs this song will bring you in the years to come. Please do not forget them, learn the songs and you too can sing them to your children one day.

    Best Wishes to you

    Dave..

  • When I was a kid I used to listen to this song on a cassette tape album of Max and sing along and dance for hours on end. Thanks for putting this up! Does anyone know what album had this song on it as well as the toothbrush song and sandman and chip chopper charlie?

  • Hi 9215,

Glad you liked the video. I bought the cd 3 cd's called "Hello Children Everywhere" vol 2. Way back in the 50's & 60's as children we would listen to the radio, on Saturday's there was a programme for children. Children's Choice, hosted by Uncle Mac... Ask at any good record shop.

  • oh! what wonderful memories, come flooding back, Saturday mornings and Uncle Mac's Childrens favourites..Thankyou for sharing these videos..x

  • i'm sorry, but i really don't get it.

    katzenellenbogen = cat elbow.

    wtf? xD

  • @yeahMemphisJoe171 ... It's a song recorded by Max Bygraves .. which means nothing but encapsulates the spirit of the age (zeitgeist). Times were different then. It was made around 1954 so any young person today just wouldn't understand. :)

  • @RosebudliasCabochons i'm 19 and both me and my sister LOVE this song. we had a tape filled with old songs such as this, i'm a blue toothbrush and the typewriter song (LOL just remebering). we used to act out the robin hood song too. doesn't matter when it was made if you grow up with something its nostalgic to u no matter what your age.

  • :) It's funny how this was given a negative response because I had no negative intent when I wrote my comments.

And yes, you are right Pembo326, growing up with this and other songs is important regardless of your age. It's because I am so much older that it meant something special to me because it was my era :) xx

  • Thank You Sophie,

I have an Uncle living in Harlow! wow!

Glad you enjoyed the song, have seen the others I do have i'm a Blue Toothbrush.
