Nah they don't. I happen to play in the youth of a dutch club that plays the highest level (these are the pro's), and i can assure you they don't get a new stick every match. First of all a new stick doesnt play better then a stick that is well played in, less stiff, and it wil adapt to your playstyle. Second of all, there is simply not enough money yet, even tho fieldhockey is growing rapidly.
Check out the Adidas TT10. It's very crooked, i think about the max. However, imo, this really limits ur field play. Hitting a good backhand becomes extremely hard, and control is bad. But u can get a nice flick with it.
Ok, to put an end to all the discussion, the stick IS legal, as the bow is exactly 25mm when the stick is on the ground. When you push the top however, the bow will increase a lot, but since the rules are "when laying down without interferance" it is perfectly legal. And for all of you who don't speak dutch, everything I just said is what Teakema say in this movie. And as he plays world cups, I bet he knows the rules!
Get a GX 7000 Jumbow Extra, if you're either really good, or have a really bad time on drags. Its a great stick with (I think) the same amount of bend like the new TT10.
Well I've been thinking about a adidas ( not specificly this one) but I don't know I like Dita to and I had it for long atm I have Stag but it is not one I want again... so Dita or Adidas... Princess isn't bad either... hard :)
They come in a low bow mould and at 250 american, i can get them through a dealer in new zealand for 240$. Which is a far better price than any other stiick such as grays, gryphons and addidas which all are around the $400 mark.
So im basically asking if anyone has any experience or advice on sachin sticks?
particularly the sip-9000 graphite pro dragflick mould
I tried out the GX 7000. There fab. Over a year ago, I didn't know the art of drag flicking. Now I am a captain of a U18, when more than half of the players are over my age. (I think its cause of my drags). And now I can perfectly drag with my Gryphon Taboo Magnum.
for me, the most important things is comfortable.. i've try Mercian, Grays, TK, Voodoo and BE, but its Dita that suit me well.. the cheap Dita G3.. =)
okay here is a clinic for all of you: the stick is technically legal but within the next couple of months national field hockey is changing the rules that, if necessary, the official may push the stick head down to measure the bow, thus the stick will be illegal, but for the time being it is legal. any questions?
malik is a good stick for drag flicking and dribbling and even shot, and the probleme with the TT10 is you can't shot very well but it's a must for drag flicking
it is legal as the law is the bow when placed on the ground. if you push the top of it down in increases to something stupid like 30mm all of the grays sticks now do this. its not illegal just yet but i think in about 2 seasons it will change.
im getting one,. you can arieal the length of the pitch with just a flick of the wrist!!
its not illegal, it has to be 2,5cm when on the ground. It is, the curve is made in such a way that its 2,5 inches, but when you push it, as he does in this video, he tells that its just legal. Too bad you guys can't speak dutch:P
anyone thinking of buying one of these sticks - dont! they are illegal because the bow is over the limit on 28mm but mine broke within 1 month and i didnt get a refund from barringtonsports. waste of £180. i reccommend a malik. Btw im a essex and east U16 player.
They aren't 28mm. I have one, it's 23.5cm bow. Infact, if you look into it, the Gryphon Taboo range have a bigger bow. The Ditas have bigger bows, and even other Adidas sticks have bigger bows.
It's just how low it is on the shaft.
Mine hasn't broken, and I got it when they were first released. I play four times a week, and it's stayed strong. Maybe just a defect with yours?
they(taeke and adidas) actually cheated the rules, he says when you put the stick flat, it is exactly 25mm but if you push down the head it the bow become larger...
so did grays with the gx7000 and next years gx5000 gold specially made for ashley jackson i got the luxury of trying the 5000 its not out yet and its fit!! lol
no im afraid it has not been put online yet but its gold with bronze grip and the other new jumbows are now in shiny paint lol...ash is also now using a new stick by adidas which is siver and says AJ7..like the other internationals.
i am liking the slow mo dragflick. and the stick is prolly legal, it may appear to be more than 25 mm, but when it gets tested, they put it on a flat surface, sticks like these tend to slant backwards a bit. and the rule it the 25 mm block should not be able to get thought the bow of the stick, and since the stick tilts bak a bit, it cannot. pretty tricky. i like. ahah
i think its legal..becoz i myself own a gx 6000 jumbow..which has 24.75mm curve...and this stick has exact 25mm curve...you cant blame them if the stick has 1 0r 2mm more coz it hand made....
anyway..in my opinion its legal..if it not...taekema would have use other stick..
The stick definately has more curve than what we had during the 80's. No taking away any credit from the great Taekema as one of the best I've seen - technique & execution. Awesome commercial in super slow motion; wish you can translate what Taekema is saying.

SukhSingh07 3 years ago
bigger bow usually make the drag flick skill easier...you can put so much pace on the ball although you dun really know how to drag flick

yeahh it lets people drag flick without learning the proper technique and its the technique that takes time to learn
