  • "Don't throw our Joy away"

  • I used to listen to this in the local graveyard when a stroppy, angst ridden teenager. Always sounded better in the snow for some reason. Have since lightened up.

  • My favorite song of the album.

  • pure magic

  • We were so lucky. When records were records. Every song on this album is a masterpiece and I wouldn't part with my vintage vinyl for anything.

  • Amazing album. What a terrible time it must have been after Ian died...

  • This Hookey on vocals?

  • A masterpiece and probably my favourite song on the album. It also contains some of my favourite lyrics (particularly those recited by Gillian) though the production means quoting them accurately is difficult. Like others have said, songs like Doubts Even Here, The Him, The Eternal and Decades are best listened to whilst gazing out of the window at a dark winter's sky while the rooftops are pounded with heavy rain.

  • always..JD/NO + Public Enemy still influencing, it's funny

  • im ready 2 sleep now

    sorry.xxxxxxxxx

  • Haunting song. Stephen´s drumming really is astounding on this one. Not to mention Peter´s voice

  • Perfect song.

  • for the rain!

  • probably best track from new orders best album, more evidence that hooky should have done more vocals. power corruption and lies was pretty dismal.

  • the lyrics are just breathtaking

  • They will always be the worst live band ever!

  • Thank you procopius....just was getting sick bout people saying ' this sounds "like" Joy Division'...LOL

  • Sounds like this should remind us that Ian was no the only contributer to Joy Division. It appears that Joy Division was really comprised of not only the original band members, but of Martin Hannet as well.

  • Often regarding as the poor man's 'Atmosphere', but this track still has something special about it, and Hook's vocals suit. Hannett still gets a raw deal from this album, even now they still don't give him enough credit for what he did, whether it's J.D or N.O.

  • Hooky's voice is HAUNTING...i can almost hear Ian's voice in the background...

  • Excellent song and album. This has to be one of the most underrated albums around. Whether or not it influenced Trent Reznor or not, I don't know (probably not), but you do hear some similarites in their industrial/techno sound on NIN album such as DOWNWARD SPIRAL. Still an incredible album after almost 30 years (man, how depressing! :o` ).

  • brilliant--brilliant

  • Well Hookey's voice sounds closer to Ian Curtis than Barney's I think. There's also Gillian speaking at the end.

  • The perfect transition from Joy Division to New Order for sure. Proper dark. Looking out your window, a grey rainy day, on your own. Thats when these things are best

  • epic

  • it definitely sounds a little like J.D.voice & music

  • I thought Peter did the vocals on here (and Dreams Never End).

  • in the early album - in particular "movement" , Barney did sing very reminiscent of ian.

  • the intro notes sounds very Kraftwerk.

  • is that barney "trying" to sing like ian curtis???
