I remember seeing some of this show. I didn't feel inspired to watch it simply because Kermit was not hosting it. Its just not a Muppet Show without him.
This was such a brilliant show! And it's too bad it was on the air for such a short time ... My mom recorded it on VHS tapes when it was on TV way back in the 90s and I watched the episodes all the time when I was growing up. I've recently rediscovered it; I'd forgotten how hilarious it was. :D I love The Muppet Show and I love Muppets Tonight ... I'm also hoping the Muppet movie coming out next month will be good. :)
Okay, That is your opinion. I personally find this funnier because I wasn't born when the Muppet show came out. I was 3 when I first watched this, and I can actually relate to the guest stars, who are STILL ALIVE. (most anyways) I understand the jokes better then joke from the 70's. I am a 90's kid, and always will be. My mum who was a 70's kid likes this better. So say it's not as good, slam it all you want, just stop complaining and shut up. I liked the innuendo in this. More grown up feel.
@Spongesponger No lol...you didn't....but I've heard from alot of people that jim henson's characters sound completely off and what not since someone else took them over and I was disagreeing with them. I think Whitmire does an great job as well.
@Scorpio110186 I feel Steve Whitmire's done a great job. They kinda rushed him into his first Kermit appearance but then gave him lots of time to fine-tune and he's excellent. Note that Muppeteers age anyway, so even someone doing one voice the whole way through will sound different eventually; Frank Oz's voice has aged naturally so Miss Piggy and Yoda sound different lately than they did initially!
@LoreleiMission you're right...if i'm not mistaken frank oz left the jim henson company like in 2001 or 02 and eric jacobson took over his characters...he doesn't do a bad job either...but you're right, steve whitmire is an amazing talent
@Nightmastercool97 If this show WAS written for adults, wouldn't it have more swearing and sex-related humor? (No offense to this show at all, this is just 100% hypothetical.)
@GameStation3 Aren't you implying that all adults are dumb morons? There is a different kind of mature humour, namely the one you need to have some intelligence for and do some thinking. The clever humour. The humour both kids can enjoy too while the adults get a parental bonus. That is real comedy
I think part of what makes the muppets so great is that each and every one is completely unique! That and they don't have to argue with each other to make things interesting. For some reason these days people think that if you don't have any conflict between characters then it's boring. And then when they translate this to real life you get all these confrontational people... but, I digress. Muppets are awesome!
Simple yet clever jokes and puns, such underrated humor which would still make for far better entertainment than a lot of contemporary shows, its that charm that only the Muppets could have on the air.
Clifford IS shit. Kermit should have been the host even though he sounds fucking weird. Everything else is good. Could even be funnier then the original.
Yeah it's too bad they don't have this show on tv now, or any muppets on tv. I have loved this show since I was little. They don't make tv like they used to, and it's really quite sad actually.
How do you have copies of this show?!?! Is it out on DVD?? Im trying to get my hands on at least the first season for a Christmas present... could you help me out?

The show hasn't been released on DVD yet. Brian Henson has said he hopes it will be after season 5 of The Muppet Show is out. 8-)
