chris yates is a living legend and a personal hero of mine. his fishinhg ethics and philosphy is one all anglers and naturalists should admire and try to adhere to. on top of this his ability to relocate you from your armchair to right beside him simply through the power of the written word is incredible! in the same league as the likes of Isaac Walton, B.B and Richard Walker. And were stuck with Robson Green on our t.v.s instead. thank u chris for being the perfect ambassor for our pastime.

I agree with what Chris Yates says about lakes 'switching off' here. On every lake I've fished, you seem to get lulls in the fishing during the day and night. Even the more prolific 'runs waters' I've fished. Chris Yates is a legend. Even using his 'old fashioned' gear he'd outfish most modern-day camo guys with three rods and all the set up!
@lechevaliermalfet1 I Still use that reel today not so much for carp fishing but i have had some very big tench and breem on it where use of drag isnt much of a necessity
ryanwilson4 what ar you talking about 'only said he was a toff because he's wearing a suite' what do you want him to wear a hoody and a pair of jeans round his arse??? Just because he takes a bit of pride in his appearence he's a toff! Whats the obsession with everyone dressing like american black gangstas? Whats wrong with being ENGLISH!?!
Well spoken, yes. But if he was a true 'toff', wouldn't he be using a gold plated rod? And I dout he would be sharing his time and knowledge with the likes of you and me...
Chris is a traditionalist, not everyone's taste, cane rods and 1920's reels.
but Chris is a legend to me.

One of the great things about this guy is,,,he doesn't try to sell you anything while your watching,,,what an angler.
