to get there on time they cut our hours and they load the drivers with a lot of picks up and we dont have enough time to get there, if they could separate these trips to make it more comfortable for everybody give more hours to the drivers and more time for picks up that would be great but they do everything the opposite
they cut our hours, they load us with passengers, they dont give us enough time to get there, we get there late and we get yelled cursed because they are late
this job is a joke transit are a bunch of idiots they are really dumb they pay low and the way they schedule these trips are really stupid the computer does it or whatever they do with the schedule is puresimple stupidity if the person has an apoitment u better make sure that he or she gets there on time
becausewe pick up other people and make people late, they load drivers with a lot of pick ups and we dont even have enough time to get there we are always late
Lastly in NYC some "Black Car" services contract with the MTA to transport riders that do not need the special vans. Those black car providers are able to fine the owner operator that f's up any account including paratransit. Knowing that you can be held responsible for losing a Multi- million dollar account is enough for most drivers to take special care in the level of service.
@busdriver824 Poor pay equals in a lot if cases poor performance and ergo poor customer service. The MTA in N.Y.C. Needs to take away these contracts and put the workers on the public payroll like they did for the regular transit private contractors a decade ago. Until there are real penalties for contractors and their employees bad service will mostly go unanswered.
@busdriver824 Is dominated by corporate welfare providers that think that the disabled public ought to kiss their feet. It should be the other way around in fact. Is it the pay that many if these providers give to the drivers. $10.00 per hour is the starting rate for one Jamaica, Queens, NY provider and quite frankly they could pay a whole lot better than that, but alas!
@busdriver824 I don't know what city you drive paratransit in but in N.Y.C. There seems to be one than one level of service. The paratransit industry in N.Y.C
@busdriver824 no one like to be late for sure. The issue however was not lateness but one of refusal to perform the trip after mom spoke up and advocated on her sons behalf.
this is common in the industry! by federal law a paratransit service cant refuse to
schedule a ride for you! but whether you get there on time is another matter.
i do paratransit and ive been expected to be in three places at the same time in
different citys miles apart. I do my best to get everybody where they need to be on time but the office staff usualy load me up to where i cant do it all!!
im sorry for your problem but think ahead, tell the office you have to be there!
you guys are lucky cause in green bay they pay 8.00/hr!
