  • this is the new (swarm host) for the zerg from HEART OF THE SWARM

  • I would shit a fucking brick if I saw an army of that headed for my siege tank line.

  • This is the ugliest rts.unit I've ever seen.

  • cool, but looks a bit like the roach and the baneling, like bokuroker said :P

if you want to see some huge fanart from starcraft 2, check my real life hydralisk :) /watch?v=M2t7r2MmrbU the head alone is as tall as I

  • OMG i am nearly sad that they didnt use that

  • That was the original "beta" concept for the infestor. They changed it in the final version.

  • it is the new zerg unit from heart of swarm

  • @agent9kk yes it is, and it was uploaded in 2008... duh....

  • heavy artillery unit?

  • It's an infestor that suicides when out of mana!

  • baneroachling!

  • Thatès really creative, I like how it merges different models together- I see the original Infestor's weird crustacean looks in the head region!

  • is this for heart of the swam... they shakk use this cu looks much better than the usual

  • ahh this type of infestor was deleted its was supose to be for infesting building in order to make infested terrans

  • He cannot blink :)

  • whoa its got like a mushroom on it's back.

  • I'm glad they chose the new one instead of this....

  • OM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM

  • Looks better than that maggot we have now

  • @ZverevasLT this one looks too much like a warcraft unit in my opinion.

  • i has ear mouths!

  • think now inph looks better, this is some shitty bane-roach-phestor

  • That's disgusting, perfect

  • Lol it looks like roach mixed with baneling

  • It's a walking bomb.

  • Insectoid does not equal a man with a stick in his hand.

That's my opinion about the walk cycle.

Plus it's not cute, The Zerg are supposed to be cute :P

  • This reminds me of the first boss in Pikmin, a spider that can only be attacked when it opens it shell, pretty cool

  • for some reason i was thinking of warcraft and its beatles...

  • Nice!!! keep it up!!!

  • @elusuario989 Lol look at the date. This is back from 2008, pre-beta stuff. Nothing they are still working on.

  • @elusuario989 LOL this from 2008, pre-beta stuff, nothing new.

  • @TacoStanMan I see, so what's ur point?

  • Armor upgrade for the baneling :D

  • WOOOOOOOOW,i want it!

  • this ended up as a baneling in the end.. at least the model

  • i remember this! haha reminds me of a boss in pikmin. it even opens up it's weak spot!

  • @Lucky466 yep, that spider thing - i think pikmin 1 not sure- that was fun

  • would have made a great unit to play with.

  • Lol The King of the Zerg is laughing about him ^^

  • looks like the heavily armored upgraded super version of a Baneling. in other words...GIEF NOAW =P

  • this looks cooler then actual one

  • it is a good consept especiely the ass

  • looks like a baneling/roach hybrid >_>

  • The Swarm did well to get rid of this guy...just more mouths to feed.

  • Looks just like Kerrigan.

  • this wouldve been better, the new one looks like a purple piece of shit with legs

  • @Jaws3235

... and sounds like one, too. XÞ

  • i love this guys exhaling

  • what are u guys? blind? it clearly looks like a marine

  • Looks like an infestor/baneling/roach/alien extra mouth

  • BANEFESTOR!!!

  • Looks like nerubian crap

  • Oh nice, hope it turns? out to be good

  • i love how? the zerglings look like SWARM of bugs hehe

  • @puffyarson28 its too bad it didn't? end up in the game

  • its well made but it doesnt look zerg.

  • @GraveUypo What does it look like? Protoss? ;D

  • Close but no cigar.

  • @Cherootoe

    ...for either of it's mouths.

  • Lol Has 3 mouths

  • ewww....

  • the infester is different now

  • i like this concept better, and i wanna new concept for the roaches, those guys dont look cool enough

  • lol it looks nothing like the actual thing

  • zerg pwn for ever!

  • Two things about this infestor. It looks nothing like the real one (If you guys have watched the Starcraft 2 Battle Reports you would know) and it doesn't do what the defiler does. This thing can take over other creatures with a neural parasite.

  • @Treyfan Actually, they completely changed the infestor model to something quite similar to this. It's not that recent a change actually so you probably know of it by now. I wouldn't be surprised if this is where Blizzard based their newer model on since the basic body is the same.

  • Jack988 if you want to play SC2 beta just go to Starcraft2Solutions[dot]tk and get way to get key

  • At least it's a massive improvement over the old WoW-looking Infestor.

Here's hoping the Defiler is still available in the editors.

  • In many cases, 10 seconds are all you need when using mindcontrol. If you're up against a mothership, just neuralparasite that, and bring it to your base/main army. By the time the effect wares off, you can easily finish off the mothership. and the protoss wouldn't want to create that kind of big units again. and they'll fight with zealots/stalkers. This neuralparasite idea was doomed from the start. It's lame. Archons/robots don't have neurons. Do zerg have greater psi powers than the protoss?

  • for me nothing can ever replace the defiler. This infestor bullshit is just way out of proportion... and it sucks, big time. New abilities are gay as hell.

  • I totally agree.

Why replace Defilers with infestors when defilers are way more ingenious and original?

  • defilers looks like violator from spawn

  • infestor replace defiler :(

  • By the way, the Medivac Dropship doesn't make any sense at all. You know what's so special about SC1 Terran infantry? They are different from hydralisks as their success depends on how medics and marines are properly microed. Now, in SC2, Marines must save their precious HP from using stimpacks. They are just smaller hydralisks..

Don't tell me "if you don't like this game, don't play it". I would be happy to ignore the game if Blizzard decides to be a bunch of idiots and don't fix these things.

  • Wow rant much? I understand all of your points, but honestly, we don't know everything about the game yet. You're talking about it like you already own it. All of those points are true based on what we currently know, but Blizzard could just as easily destroy all of our knowledge on the game in a second. I'm sure that they implemented a counter to this, or at least a limit because they've seen the success of SC1, why would they mess it up? And for the dropships, what?

  • The dropships are the new medics, and they do it at least twice as good. They heal twice as fast, and they have air superiority to the medics. Also, they have a higher HP. They can survive for a longer period, and have protection from ground-only units. Although they currently cost more, it's the medic + the dropship, so it evens out (Current Medivac- 100 mins and gas; Dropship + Medic- 150 mins and 125 gas)

  • with all due respect, you have to think in terms of balance, and timing.

heal twice as fast? If this ruins the balance, the fact that it's better than medics doesn't appeal to anybody. Who would wait for their starports to be built to heal their marines? I'm sure you've watched many games played by those wicked korean players. Medics also serve as natural blockades against zerglings (this may seem negligible, but it's makes a huge difference)

  • The reason why they brought up the idea of Medivac dropships is that, medics can't jump and follow reapers. Now, would Medivac dropships, their big bodies, follow reapers in their "secret raid missions"? This is totally absurd. Let reapers go on raids alone.

Fortunately, Dustin Brower doesn't like the concept of Medivac dropships, it's possible that it might get replaced with something else. Neural Parasite is another bullshit Blizzard has to take care of.

  • Many people are upset that Blizzard has been creating many unit designs randomly without proper planning. Mothership is one thing. Dustin Brower doesn't even know what kind of role he would give the Thor. Siege tanks are Terrans' artillery. Please watch, "what's wrong with starcraft2", it will tell you everything I want to tell. Many people say "too many employees in Blizzard play warcraft, and starcraft2 is getting contaminated by ideas from warcraft."

  • I guess you've seen Boxer play, and how fiendishly he microes marines/medics. An infantry brigade infiltrating and rushing into a zerg expansion, dancing around, avoiding lurker spines, moving behind medics, killing zerglings, drones, and finally destroying the hatchery. Would this kind of game play be possible with clumsy medivac dropships, that can't get into areas defended with anti-air? They replaced reavers with collosuses. We wouldn't see Stork wreaking havoc with defty reaver/shuttle micro

  • also, you said medivac dropships have "air superiority to the medics". This doesn't matter. I haven't seen any players dealing with marines/medics by trying to get rid of the medics first, and giving marines free shots. Some use dark archons to feedback medics, but they work on air units like science vessels too, and it's a different matter. If you had hydralisks, would you attack the medics first and get them all torn to pieces by stimpacked marines?

  • Actually for the hypothetical situation, it'd depend on the situation. If I am heavily outnumbered, I'd try to kill the medics since I'd lose anyway. But if I outnumber them, then I'd attack the marines first. But yeah, I understand what you mean. Honestly, half of my reply was from memory as I haven't played in a long while.

  • yeah I'd kill the medics first if they hadn't yet healed the damage from the stimapcs yet, otherwise it would depend on the number of marines

  • well wut he means might be they can get away easier and like scout plus they are also transports

  • it was changed cus reapres are faster than medics, and the medics would tke more in get there and heal

  • @chopinandliszt If you use dark archons to feedback medics you're a retard

  • it does depend on the situation, what I meant was, if the terran player uses science vessels and medics at the same time, you could use DA on both. Anyway, this is useless discussion, I assume you've all watched korean players play. proficient terran players never bio against protoss. They always Mech against protoss. You know that, right?

  • @chopinandliszt 90% of the time at the very least. Go watch 20 VODs of pro PvT and you may see one where the Terran goes bio. Flash gets a small amount of marines in the beginning of the game simply to kill shuttles and prevent early dragoon rushes. Yes I do know that I've been playing Starcraft since 1998. Going bio against Protoss is pretty fucking stupid.

  • ok..that might be as rare and risky as offensive photon cannon tactic though.

  • @chopinandliszt Why wouldn't you just use arbiter and stasis a clump of units instead of microing a dark archon that's going to die to tanks anyways?

  • Of course, arbiters/hightemplars are indispensable in late PvT games. But I think, if science vessels really hurt you, you could afford one Dark archon and use it to feedback any wandering vessels, like how the zerg use scourges. After all feedback's range is 10.

  • @chopinandliszt why not use psi storm and just kill a group instead of feedback to kill one medic... lame

  • You are using a nonexistent example.

In TvP barracks level units get raped hard after the 5min mark. Marines are used to kills scouting probes and stop zelots from hitting your wall.

If your not cheesing / being cheesed your going to build between 1 and 4 in that match up. 6-8 if your going to do a fast FD push with your first tank.

  • Why bio in the first place if you're fighting against Protoss? and Protoss obviously goes for early cybernetics core, to stop early vulture raids. I'm mainly talking about TvZ matches, where bio is used most often.

  • Dropships float at a considerable height, it would make any sense if they're able to heal troops that are at surface. I know you think highly of Blizzard, but many people worry that (watch this video "what's wrong with starcraft2") The "new Blizzard" treats many of their games like Warcraft3. They spent too much money on the mothership, which obviously has no place in competitive RTS games, and, to save money, they're using Warcraft3 graphics.

  • Starcraft1 was indeed successful, but this doesn't mean Starcraft2 would succeed as well. You must know, a large number of employees are new. So many people complain the new siege tank looks as if it's from ToysRus. Please watch "what's wrong with starcraft2".

  • Yeah I hate how most of the new units are just like little action figures. They're so... round? Anyway yeah a large amount of employees are new (10 years... doubt many of the original developers are still there). But I still like to think that they learned some things from SC1, I dunno maybe I'm in denial or something. And yeah I did watch that video. I loved it so much.

  • that video was done 2 years ago. blizzard is a good company, they know the flaws and they are working to fix them. give them time.

  • They made a few ridiculous new units that dont fit in the game, the thor... If I play terran, I probably would NEVER waste my minerals on it. (If i buy SC2) thats what happends when you let nerds make your games, they fuck it up with there gay fantasys.

  • people are comparing Neural Parasite to SC1's Dark Archons. This is totally different. Do infestors cost enormous amounts of minerals/gas? Do they lose most of their HP or shields, when the ability is used? It simply destroys the game.

Let's say a protoss player brings in templars and stalkers. As a zerg player, you can use Neural Parasites to take away his templars, (similar to the effect of the SC1 Arbiters' stasis field, except the neural parasite is much cheaper than this)

  • use all their energy in psionic-storming the stalkers. 10 seconds, or 5 are all you need. After the stalkers are all gone, you can get rid of the hightemplar. Why would the protoss player use any of the mothership/carriers/archons/immortals/Collosuses/Voidrays/hightemplarin this situation? In every zerg vs. protoss games, protoss players would only use zealots/stalkers.

This applies for Terran players as well.

  • the idea of the neural parasites working on archons makes NO SENSE as well. Archons are purely psionic entities. They don't have neurons or even brains.

Blizzard contradicts itself everyday. They said the Protoss banned the ability of mindcontrol/darkarchon for a thousand years. and now, the zerg can do it easily. (nevertheless, neural parasite IS a mindcontrol ability) Dark archons look like jokes now... How do they explain why the protoss suddenly stopped using dark archons?

  • There are many situations where 10 seconds are all you need. Mind control the mothership for 5 seconds, destroy their force, after that, take care of the mothership. All attention diverts to the mothership and you can use this confusion to use more infestors.

Why do the zerg need another mindcontrol ability when corruptors have a similar ability?

  • Aside from the psionic storm, the protoss don't have any powerful offensive ability. Look at the Forcefield, hallucination. Terrans/protoss just have big air/ground units, ready to be mind controlled by the Zerg.. Can you imagine your own marines getting slaughtered by your own battlecruisers' new abilities? 10 seconds are all the Zerg players need..

  • Instead of this annoying, shitty neural parasite, they should come up with something more interesting, zerglike and reasonable. Blizzard sucks like they've never done before. Aside from the fancy graphics, there's not really anything "excellent".

Infestor's abilities- they either similar to SC1 dark archons & queen's abilities. THERE'S NOTHING ORIGINAL.

  • with infestors, zerg players can build other species techs. The problem is that, they can build normal marines using this method when they have infested marines in their arsenal. Again, this neural parasite is bullshit

  • the mothership's cloaking ability is lame as well. What kind of player would draw all the fire into his own mothership by hiding the rest of his units? Again, the mothership is just a big, powerful arbiter. What makes it so special from SC1 arbiter? The fact that it's stronger? The wormhole transit is just the recall ability slightly modified.

  • yeah but infested marines are slow

  • hell no boi,

infresters are the fastest land unit in the game!

  • read my comment again!

  • its completeley changed :P

  • But on the bright side they plan to be able to use the original in the map editor

  • Zerg rulz!!

  • you wouldn't be saying that is they invaded earth

  • Mmm, ok. Thanks :)

  • dude this video was made in 2008 and a lot has changed since then so yes infestors are real and they are in the game...but they look better now

  • It's not fake, it's simply a fairly old (don't take my word for it, I only vaguely know about this particular "CONCEPT!") concept art; why would it be fake? I'm not saying this with utter confidence however, so don't yell at me if you ARE right in the first place... Thank you =)

  • Things ugly!

  • Then you should read the dicription too, mate !

"this is a revised version of the starcraft 2 zerg infestor "

    Wooaw, really revised!!!

  • that kind of looks like a roach from starcraft

  • get ur fact right faggot

  • euh, okey!

My 2-years-old sister woud see this is not the real thing, even if she hasn't seen the real thing!

  • looks more like a baneling

  • Looks like? It is a benaling!

  • yes the benaling.

  • @twelvehaha Looks more like a roach to me.

  • Gum chewing mouth

  • live 40k

  • nothing like it fuking fake

u can see in game play now they are much fatter

  • this is much more like the original design. they changed it before they made any videos or screenshots.

  • Ugly, but cool!

  • this model is outdated. so anyone who posts after asking if this is real or wants too debate this can just goto blizzards site and see the newest model.

  • yes that true

  • looks bad...the old ones are better

  • it isnt fake have you seen the gameplay? while 4 bunkers get infested by something crawling underneath marines into terran base?

  • I think it's fake, after all. The artwork isn't even similar to this model.

  • QFT

  • it looks cool

  • I don' t like it at all.

  • tell me, is it real or fake? definitely better then the old one.

  • i like the old one

  • it reminds me of a boss in the game pikmin

  • Good to see that it dosen't look like some stupid Lovcraftian cone on legs.

  • looks like princess yauj + friends

  • troll harder.

  • looks more like a beatle then a zerg... idk it just dosnt remind me of zerg

  • it is zerg-like indeed

  • it looks like a baneling

  • Yeah even though this is fake, I think it's not that bad. Would be kind of cool.

  • They do have infestors in Starcraft 2, but they leek nothing like this at all. But this does look cool!

  • nonono.... u wrong subfin

its like a create an early DT by protoss against terran iam pretty sure... if u have detectors infestors will not bother u a lot

  • they can only temporarilly infest,it would be rely unfair if otherwise. if zerg could send in a large, but weak army ith a couple infestors mixed in, and just take over everybuilding, it would instantily knock the terran player out of the game. it is only temporarilly infested

  • oh really? wow thanks for letting the world know. really, you're the master.

  • it doesnt look like a zerg, the design strays too far from the original colors i reckon

  • yea doesnt look like a zerg

  • i think it looks ok, but it can be better. i hope they'll revise it again : /

  • its better than the infestor they are using now

  • yeah i guess. it looks pretty cool though :)
