I remember seeing Yes at the Boston Music Hall in '72 with the Eagles opening for them. I believe, that the version of this solo, he played there is what appears on the YESSONGS album. I have a few pics from that concert and was completely blown away!
I was also fortunate enough to see him perform Journey To The Center Of The Eath there as well! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
@LeoBlueblood I was there too, dude. I think a couple of Yessongs cuts were from that show -- yes, maybe this solo. I remember Jon Anderson had a cold and you could hear it in his voice (and on some Yessongs cuts). There were two concerts at the Music Hall that week. The other was Elton John. I love old Elton John, too, but I could only go to one and think I made the right choice. Hearing "Tales" for the first time LIVE was......fucking amazing. And I went to the "Journey" show too. Way cool.
@sailnutt The Yessongs CD, which is an audio version of the Yessongs film (from which this is taken) is widely available,
Though before I get flamed, I had better state that it is recorded on a different night / venue as Rick does not play Jingle Bells at the start of the grand piano section.
Absolutely brilliant piece - how to use a mini-Moog!
The quality af the Yessongs CD is no much better than this. I recommend Yes - Live Montreux 2003. It is available on iTunes and Rick plays an amazing Six Wives Solo.
Man, this is good stuff
