  • This is a great movie! An epitome of how Hollywood grew rich by cheering everyone up during the Great Depression. Jimmy Durante plays an actor who is famous for his movie, "Schnarzan". The movie is worth it alone for the 'film clips' of this movie-inside-a-movie, (btw, JD is a very sexy-ugly man!). BUT, if that weren't enough, Mickey Mouse introduces one of the BEST animated shorts ever produced by Disney, 'Chocolate Soldiers'. That's here on YouTube as well.

  • This is one of the songs Rodgers and Hart wrote in their unhappy Hollywood days before returning to Broadway. It does have some of Larry Hart's typically outrageous lyrics.

  • Check out Over The Counter 1932

  • Good

  • Why does referencing Over The Counter (1932) need approval??

  • @paulj0557 All comments need approval due to the trolls out there.

  • Over the Counter (1932) is cool too.

  • Similar to:

  • A similar melody to 2-strip Technicolor classic:

  • If you like this you will love the pink and green bunnies in this 2-strip Technicolor classic:

  • If you get to see the whole picture, the scene that directly precedes this numbe is one where Lupe Velez is cursing out Jimmy Durante over the phone (in Spanish), for not being invited to his Hollywood party... and if you listen very closely, at the very end, she slips in some English, calling him a "piece of sh*t". (Don't believe me? Check it out.... Don't know how it got past the censors...)

  • Busby Berkeley going over the top. I made a major effort to collect all of these 1930's Art Deco Extravaganzas. I think I have them all now. They are avaliable from several sources. I can't remember which one of them I saw first (probably on TV way back in the 70's) but I was hooked from the beginning.

  • Großartiger Song

  • yepp

  • "Hello, here's Miss Joan Crawford!"

    love it.

  • Janet Klein does a great cover of this. Love the original though.

  • I love this!

  • Great classic - thanks

  • If only -- make that, IF ONLY the rest of the movie had been this good! Laurel & Hardy are in it, briefly, doing a justly-celebrated egg-breaking bit with Lupe Velez, but Hal Roach had nothing to do this. Harry Rapf produced for MGM, and a brace of directors worked-on it, but after the preview, NOBODY wanted to have anything to do with it! R.J.

  • Satan sing out?!? blasphemy!Just change the lyrics a little and the music to rock and you've got an AC/DC song.

  • Miss the operators I hate all the long waits on those 800 Nos. and crazy recorded messages. Bring 'em back lol.....fun flick...My mom once worked a PBX Board.........

  • Bare backs with a hint of bosom; satin panties being zipped up the side; silk hosiery pulled up an unclad leg - oh, those naughty Hollywood people.

    "Satan sing out - yeah!

    At that crashing, furniture smashing

    Hollywood party

Get up, get out, get in it

    Hollywood party

    Nobody sleeps tonight!"

  • hey wonderful melody, was this
