@channel4squares The second door is open by then, and the path I took takes the same amount of time to do as the shell strat. A player could do it either way and get the same time result. I just happen to like targetting goombas better than targetting myself. ;)

I use the Wii Wheel too, why is it that my lap times are faster on Automatic on the wheel?

I prefer the Wii Wheel, but when using the Wheel I do better in Auto.

But when using the Nunchuck/controller I do better in manual. What am I doing wrong with the Wheel?

Turning is slower on manual (when you remove mini-turbos from the equation) than auto. In order for manual to be faster, your racing lines have to be more accurate and take both the turn and the timing of your mini-turbos into account. You might not be as precise with the Wii Wheel as you need to be. Auto is a lot more forgiving in terms of accuracy on turns.

Yes it does. It's harder to do since bikes are smaller targets, but you'll get better results with the main ones.

No, the high bounce and tragectory of your vehicle only happens if you are hit just before or after you run into the ramp (which is a wall since it is still up), so the faster you are going, the better.

Once you learn the correct angle at which to throw the shell, it's not very hard to time the throw. I can do it correctly on command 4 out of every 5 times now, and I use a Wii Wheel.
