I understand that by definition the topre keys are not mechanical, but does this feel as nice to type on as mechanical keys?  I don't care how they stand technically; I am simply looking for a small mechanical keyboard, and if this is the smallest and feels the same that is a good enough fit for me.

Also do you know anything about the glass top for it?

@roiri100 some people easily type a ridiculous amount... every day. Either for a hobby or for work. I don't ever type that much, more than your average joe and after you've been typing on good keyboards it strains your hand to use a shitty $20 or $80 keyboard.

When I first got my das keyboard (not the current model, I got the one that looks like the IBM model M) I was like... OMG I just spent $100 on a keyboard. After typing on it for 5+ years I would not feel bad spending $300 on the hhkp2

@roiri100 but yah you are right, when you think about it, an Nvidia 570 GTX is, $350. A PS3 is $350. A really really nice computer monitor or TV is $350. It's odd that a keyboard would be in the league, but seriously go try one. After a nice keyboard computer lab keyboards and library computers feel like you are typing through jello. The apple keyboards are epically bad.

Thanks for the pointers to EK. The Topre looks awesome, but I think I'll have to live with Cherry MX Blue Filco for the time being. Now, if only someone would sell GOOD keycaps for a reasonable price! I think maybe the Chinese have some, but my Chinese sucks.

@Khanmanlol You're not supposed do be looking at the keys anyway, and this forces you to learn to type properly. Also you can switch between different layouts without the keys mismatching, plus it looks totally hardcore.

Is your left pinky broken? I sure would like to try one of these keyboards. I am sick of all the mushy keys! I had a fantastic keyboard that, I think, also had the capacitive keys. Maybe they were sued out of business by the patent holder. That would explain why the best keyboard I've ever used became unavailable. Too bad no one retails these Happy Hackers.

Are the keycaps slightly larger than average? And have you played any FPS games with the HHKB? I'm bored with my Filco Cherry Blacks and I'm edging closer to the HHKB :)

@bongmistt Actually, keycaps seems to be larger but the upper part of the keycaps is slightly thinner, like having your finger in something deeper, less flat. Gaming is okay with an HHKB, considering that I can't play/use an Mx Black keyboard as I'm hating them ^^

@Zanazuah Hard to say. Maybe something around 15/20. It's not so smooth than you can imagine. It's a real "vintage typing" feeling. Even if the typing force is locked at 45g, sometimes you have the feeling that you have to "hit" the key more than on Mx Brown switches.

Of course it looks like the HHKB is going to be the best, and most refined experience. but i'm just wondering if its actually worth the price for what it is. or would i be better off with a cherry blue or brown board? the last thing I want is to get the brown board and end up still getting the topre in the future. w

@williamstings I still don't understand why the HHKB Pro 2 is so expensive. About your question, it's very difficult to say "this type of switches is better than ...". Blue is clicky, Brown is fast, Topre is *plop plop*, vintage style.
