  • would you be able to answer a question or 2 about how to glass the board?

  • sure, what do you need?

  • @TicoMaster

oh cool thank you so much,

First of all what type of paint can be used to spraypaint the board, I have my own compressor but i don't know what type of paint to use and if to dilute it with water or whatever.

Also when i glass the bottom i get strands of cloth and drips of resin that remain on the deck. nometter how careful i am it always happens. do I have to send that off before i put the cloth on the top??

Thanks again you are a legend

  • you have to use a quick dry acrylic spray paint.

    ....send what off?????

  • @TicoMaster it shouldn't be necessary. but try it out. it might work. maybe it's something about how you mix the glass

  • great!

i have no idea if one day i am going to work with it... i hope so...

anyway, this video helped me having a good idea about making a surf board! Thanks!

  • @TicoMaster .... sand off

  • Hey Ticomaster,

I got one more question. What are the labels/stickers printed on? My friend had problems with the epoxy burning the labels.

2nd question: is it epoxy resin mixed with hardener used for the leash plug? good waves man

  • hey man, great vid. just a couple of questions: do you glass the back of the board first? then the front. Also no video has shown how to install the leash plug. is it just drill a hole the diameter of the plug, then fit it in place with a load of epoxy resin? Thanks again. Damien

  • That's right, for both questions. But be sure that the hole has the exact the depth. If it's too deep the board will too fragile on the other side. And you better have the exact tool to drill the hole or board will crack easily.

    good waves man.

  • what happened after 5:30 on the video? after the 9 holes have dried up? thanks again!

  • well i think its just seven holes eheh. after they dry up you take off those black sticks which were holding the fin cups and then you give the board a final waxing/shining so that the surface becomes perfectly neat.

    thanxx again

  • that's a great video mate, cool! i wonder if you also glass the other side of the board, thanks and more videos!

  • thanxx a lot man.

Yes, one glasses both sides of the board, but i couldn't show every step of the making in detail due to time problems. I just wanted to show people a fine understanding of the process of the making of a surfboard.

    good waves ma friend

  • This is the coolest surfboard making related video I´ve ever seen! I´m planning on making my own board and wanted to know how pros glass and do the fin boxes. Thanx a lot again.

  • Thanxx man!! I'm glad you liked it. I can't really ive you that answer because i'm not a shaper. I'm just a surfer trying to be a filmmaker.

Check the part1 of this video if you haven't yet.

  • That's fine, I'm taking a lot of inspiration from part2...

    Greetings from Argentina.
