@myfuncpfriends That's completely normal. It can take quite a while for them to become used to you. Being in a new home and environment is really stressful for a guinea pig so give him some time to settle down.

Can anyone help me? I have a question, I got a guinea pig and I've had him for two weeks but he's still scared. When I pet him he gets scared and whenever I pick him up he tries to go away. Will this be forever or will it take along time?

@americangirl975 It can sometimes take months for a guinea pig to become used to you. Each guinea pig has a different personality so it depends on how naturally outgoing your pig is. If you work with him daily he should come around. It just takes a little time and patience.

I used to have 2 guine pigs, but they both died recently. I was thinking of getting 1 more, sooo yesterday i went to the pet store and went to look at the guine pigs. There were babys!!! @ZebraPrint2828 Nope, he'd been socialized since he was born so he isn't afraid of people. It's normal for them to hide for awhile - I'm assuming yours is an American or Abyssinian guinea pig. They are going to be very skittish for a while. Short hair piggies are typically skittish.

@Bee5productions well, i always suggest for people who want to persuade their parents into a guinea pig to adopt from a rescue because of the advantages-- the pigs are already completely vetted, the rescue will help you in care/building a cage, and if for some reason you had to rehome the guinea pig, most all rescues will take it no matter what.

Dingo is just so sweet! He's got lovely eyes and his coat is just so sweet! Have fun with him! I hope him and Aussi get on :) Maybe you could put some grids between them so they'd get used to being around each other? And if they try to nip each other at all (which I don't think they would), then put a gap between too grids so they can still see each other? It's just an idea :)

I wouldn't really worry about Aussie hurting Dingo, I know he is small but young guinea pigs normally get on really well. The older they get the more fights they have when you are trying to introduce them plus they are more likely to fight less when they are introduced as babies :)
