Oh! howI love this show back in the 1950s beter than roy rogers, hopalong cassidy,I only liked Robin Hood (Richard Green)as much I'm 65 and still like them can we have more Alan J Morland,Drefach,Llanelli ,Carms,Wales,UK
The Lone Ranger was many years ahead of its time. Most of it was shot outdoors, on location...not simply on some sound stage with an OMP (obvious matte painting) as a(n unconvincing) backdrop..
Also, the Lone Ranger had a very liberal undercurrent which was not universally shared in America at the time...racial & cultural tolerance was always touted.
Even though I'm only 43 The Lone Ranger (or the Long Ranger as I would call him and still do) was a favorite of mine. Growing up on Long Island (of course in the days before cable) we obviously had a lot fewer TV choices than kids do today. Between The Lone Ranger and The Bowery Boys my Sundays would be half gone.
Radios first Lone Ranger, George Steinus, left the show early and became a respected film director named George Seaton. Earle Graser took the role from May 1933 until his untimely death in 1941; Ranger announcer Brace Beemer stepped into the title role until the show left the air in 1956. English-born actor John Todd played Tonto throughout. Radio Hall of Fame inductee Fred Foy became announcer from 1948 until the end

Ah! It's bugging me! Who's the announcer for the program? It sounds so much like Gerald Mohr!
