Why is Obama contradicting what the email said??? The email guy says he can make solar panels one at a time in his garage cheaper than what American corporations can make them, and Obama says making things one at a time is too expensive, and new technology is very expensive.... dumb.

while its true that not every area could harness solar power due to weather, there are many areas that could use it almost year round. You can put solar panels out in the desert or some area the sun is constantly shining, and just like a power plant u build a grid and send the power through power lines. solar doesnt have to be panels on everyones roof, they could build a power grid for it.

Cheap is a relative term. Solar energy will become cheap after the Obama administration makes fossil fuels cost more than solar energy. He has said he will increase the cost of energy to make it prohibitively expensive. Artificial, deliberate manipulation of energy costs to justify cap and trade and redistribution of wealth and fundamental  transformation.

@bobbytiger Scientists/engineers continue to improve the efficiency of solar cells every day, as with any technology. Its a bit simplistic to define something as failed; you could probably make a similar argument for the first computer ever built. They took up a lot of space (1800 square feet for the ENIAC for instance) and could only perform basic operations using punch cards. I'm sure you would label that as a "failed technology" too. Solar, no where as efficient. Not going to work as well during the winter. Not going to work as well if it's overly cloudy or raining. Not going to work at night. Sure it's a great solution out West. But ask someone in the New England right now if they'd depend on a solar plant in their area to keep their house warm. Much less, actually operate during a winter storm. Make solar a supplement, not the dependent source of energy. Obama is a cod piece

They dont want solar power to catch on, energy companies that is. Than all they could bill u for is service and maintenance, since they arent producing sunlight. Its not the government who decided if we get these things, its corporations. They are the ones financing all these politicians campaigns. Only way solar will catch on is if we boycott reg power (cant happen we rely on it too much), or they find a way to still make lots of money off us for using it.

The sad fact of the matter is that there are no resources available from our federal government to people who want to start these businesses. Obama talks about taking out loans to start new businesses. Fuck loans. If Obama actually gave a shit about clean energy he would push for legislation that would dedicate government resources to clean energy. I don't know, maybe our defense budget could spare a few billion dollars or so?

i live in an ideal place for solar power, on the western slope of Colorado we have over 300 days of sunshine a year and i think it would be nice to see this developed more. this would actually be pretty easy as were i live there is a lot of vacant land that is extremely cheap

According to motherearthnews - Solar energy currently provides less than 0.1 percent of the electricity generated in the United States. Look it up. That is piss poor if you ask me. Why hasn't science developed this any further than it has over the last 40 years? We are stuck with the same technology that put us on the moon at this point. NASA triple stacked panels on the Mars rovers to make them viable. If would cost thousands to convert your house to solar - is it worth the cost?

The demand side is easy. We just need to encourage the future construction of both residential and commercial projects to include solar technology as an integral design feature. This could be accomplished by offering tax breaks or subsides to construction firms that focus on alternative energy solutions within their business model. Voila, instant demand. The new demand & subsequent tax revenue from an exploding solar power industry would pretty much pay for itself.

@AtheistAnarchoRudi You just contradicted yourself in your own statement. Obama is not "addicted" to oil. He's trying to move the country in the right direction of sustainability - it's all the huge corporations and republicans controlling the oil industry right now. Like you also just said, one man does not have the power to change the entire way the country, and the world is powered. That's up to us.

I read an article in my local paper a few days ago about a 21 year old woman who emigrated to this country from a Bosnian refugee camp 8 years ago and is now a state senator here in Iowa. She worked full time while campaigning door-to-door and guess what? Now she helps craft state legislation. Make it happen.

@hibyemypie I agree that solar power is a great alternative as well. It may be expensive in the beginning but will eventually pay off for all of us and our natural resources. Our natural resources is what we need to focus on saving considering that is what we need to survive later down the line. We are all a part of saving our planet and we cant be uspset with China for taking greater strides in doing so.
